The story
Hololive talent Usada Pekora posted a photo of a watermelon captioned “end of summer,” teasing a mysterious upcoming stream — and it became a hot topic on 5ch’s “Nanidemo Jikkyou G” board. Since she once streamed herself wrapping a watermelon in rubber bands and waiting for it to burst, plenty of 5ch users got excited with comments like “it’s that rubber-band thing again” and “the watermelon’s nice and chilled.” Meanwhile, true to the board’s freewheeling nature, the thread veered wildly off-topic into Pekora’s stamina, how deep the “NanJ” regulars’ Hololive knowledge runs, and comparisons to rival streamer “Hori Daisuke.”
What people said
Is something going on?
Guess she's just built different, health-wise
More interested in Miku, who lost to the hypnosis app, than in Pekora
lol
yeah seriously, what even is this
She eats it properly afterward, so it's just barely okay
Honestly, hardcore fans would pay good money just to hear her say her catchphrase "konpeko~"
It's a required skill for NanJ regulars
Tell me who your favorite VTuber is
What about Captain??????
Marine's throat's been rough, so I couldn't help but leave her out this time, peko
Background and Key Points of This Topic
This teaser is nothing more than a single photo and caption posted by Pekora herself — the actual content of the stream has not been revealed. Because she has previously streamed a segment where she wraps a watermelon in rubber bands and waits for it to burst, thread speculation centered on a repeat of that bit. “Hori Daisuke,” who comes up repeatedly in the thread, is a streamer frequently referenced in 5ch’s streaming/VTuber threads, known for his extreme stunts, and here he’s brought up again as a comparison point for Pekora. It’s worth noting, though, that this is all speculation on 5ch’s part based on past patterns — whether the stream will actually turn out to be a watermelon segment had not been confirmed as of the thread’s posting.
