The story
TBS’s Sunday Drama Theater series “VIVANT” entered its endgame with Season 2’s episode 23, which aired on November 1, and will wrap up with episode 24 next week on November 8. The broadcast is expected to run 10 minutes longer than the usual one-hour slot. On 5ch’s live-discussion threads, many posters worried whether a single remaining episode could actually resolve everything the show has piled up — from Nogi and Nozaki’s escape plan to the fate of the fusion-reactor data — while others were simply enjoying the “Shonen Jump”-style plot convenience, like supposedly dead comrades coming back to life. Reactions mixed anticipation and anxiety over the already-teased film sequel.

I'm happy we can all discuss it together like this.
Next episode's probably just the escape plus finally learning what Abe Hiroshi's really after.
Same here lol, like is this Dragon Quest or what
Nogi, F, and Liu start singing like some kind of triplets.
and now it's suddenly this sloppy fast-forward kind of pacing.
Nozaki's probably alive anyway.
This show's rule is simple: shoot the head to actually kill someone, shoot the torso to keep them alive.
there's something to call out like once a minute.
is probably getting saved for the movie.
Next week's probably just up through Nozaki's rescue.
'The truth lies behind the behind of the behind!'
Yeah, that gyoza robot and the whole Vatican thing were garbage.

And Beki's starting to show signs of dementia.
No way they actually wrap everything up.
Sure, possible if you use the right kind of gun.
It's fiction, so anything goes.
Well, if you just halve the gunpowder load in the bullet, the power drops, so sure.
Lord Heart deflects even a club swing.
That much is for sure.
He's probably got seven scars.
Yeah, I'm done at this point.
It's too ridiculous to watch without the live-commentary threads.
Though it'll probably be a huge hit anyway.
Was there anyone in the cast that actually surprised you? Maybe they're saving it for the finale?

A dead comrade comes back to life.
A grand treasure-hunting adventure begins.
Is this Dragon Ball or something?
Season 2 really has that 'live-reading-Shonen-Jump' energy.
Yeah, there's clearly an homage to '80s Shonen Jump manga here.
The writing's clumsy, but if you think of it as reading the Jump from the era Gian liked, it doesn't bother you as much (a nod to the loud, simple-minded bully character from Doraemon)
Season 2's plot construction felt even more amateurish than Season 1's.
He basically forced some old house in Shimane he liked into becoming a 'pilgrimage site' and had everyone take commemorative photos there — total free rein.
Wonder how the top-tier actors dragged along for that actually felt about it.
Juicy!
Oh, you actually think he's dead~
What a gullible viewer lol
Background and key points of this discussion
“VIVANT” is a flagship TBS Sunday Drama Theater title whose 2023 Season 1 was a massive hit, sparking calls for a film adaptation and a sequel — this Season 2 is an extension of that momentum. What split opinion in the thread was less the intricacy of the mystery-solving than how the writing prioritizes scale and spectacle. Some viewers nostalgically praised the show for having the kind of intensity TV dramas used to have, while others coolly criticized its “Shonen Jump”-style plot convenience, such as supposedly dead characters coming back to life or enemies abruptly switching sides and becoming allies. Questions were also raised about the director also serving as screenwriter, and viewers were divided on how much of the piled-up mystery can realistically be resolved in a single final episode. With a film adaptation already hinted at, there was also talk of the story possibly continuing beyond the TV finale.
