The story
It’s been revealed that HoYoverse’s (miHoYo) new title “Petit Planet” will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The game’s existence had already been rumored based on rating-board listings, and the fact that one of the company’s flagship-tier titles is landing on Switch 2 with no PS5 release announced became a hot topic on the gaming hardware board (Geha). In the thread, speculation spread that other HoYoverse titles like “Genshin Impact,” “Honkai: Star Rail,” and “Zenless Zone Zero” might also come to Switch 2 down the line, and posters debated the relationship between Nintendo and Chinese developers, as well as how Nintendo’s review stance toward free-to-play games may have shifted.

What people said
There's no rating listing for PS5, you know.
It's seriously over for PS5 lol
Lmao
Azur Promilia already vanished from PS5 🫵🤣
Maybe we'll seriously get not just Genshin but Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero too.
There's no stopping the momentum of Chinese games.
Well, it's not coming to PS5, so PlayStation can't take credit for it lol
Seeing this, a bunch of companies are probably going to rush onto Switch 2.
The user-base numbers are just on a different level.
It didn't launch at the best possible timing — right as the Snezhnaya (スネジ, a Genshin story-arc reference) stretch kicked off — so it's probably not coming out anymore.
Because Palworld was never released on Switch.
Also, a Japanese company made the ripoff — that part matters.
Nintendo obviously reviews every game that goes on the eShop.
The fact that it's being sold there at all is proof Nintendo checked it and found no problem.
Well, by that logic, when a game that was on Switch and Steam comes to PS, people call that 'ditching Nintendo' too — so it goes both ways.
There's also one called 'Lili's World' that's coming to Switch 2, by the way.

It's not going to turn into whatever garbage platform has its rankings completely dominated by Chinese games.
Exactly.
If anything, Nintendo loves China.
I mean, the eShop's already packed with Chinese indie games.
Something like Genshin that can move hardware and rake in money passively is exactly what they're desperate for.
Wouldn't be surprised if they start rolling out Chinese games one after another starting next year.
And they probably want to pull out of PS — where the hardware keeps getting cracked — as soon as possible.
It'd make the whole 'Special Lineup' thing pointless.
Free-to-play games don't even count toward the '15 million in 15 days' benchmark that the Special-Lineup fanboys care so much about, so whether they release on Nintendo hardware or not changes nothing, no?
I don't think it's really about Petit Planet itself — I think the shock is that HoYoverse joining Nintendo means PlayStation got snubbed, lol
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
HoYoverse (miHoYo) is a major Chinese developer behind large-scale free-to-play titles such as “Genshin Impact,” “Honkai: Star Rail,” and “Zenless Zone Zero,” which have so far been released mainly on PC, mobile, and PlayStation. Because Nintendo has long been seen as cautious about approving free-to-play games with gacha mechanics, the thread reacted with surprise — “wasn’t it supposed to be restricted?” — while the lack of any PS5 release announcement fueled two main threads of discussion: reactions to PS5 apparently being left out, and speculation that other flagship HoYoverse titles might eventually come to Switch 2 as well. It’s worth noting, though, that at the time of this thread a Switch 2 release for Genshin Impact or Star Rail was pure speculation, not confirmed — treating the Petit Planet announcement alone as a guarantee that other titles will follow would be premature. The discussion also drew comparisons to “Palworld” to question the consistency of Nintendo’s review standards, though these comparisons mixed in differing premises, including the fact that Palworld was never actually released on Switch in the first place.
