  • FRUITS ZIPPER: Fans Sense Something “Off” as Amane Tsukiashi Alone Doesn’t Join Hands in Group Shot

Ruka Nakagawa of the seven-member idol group FRUITS ZIPPER made her solo debut on September 18, performing her debut song “Asa ni Naranaide” (“Don’t Let Morning Come”) on “THE FIRST TAKE.” After the performance, a scene showed the members gathering and joining hands — but Amane Tsukiashi was the only one who didn’t join the circle or take anyone’s hand, sparking talk among fans about the “off” feeling it gave. Reactions on 5ch split between those who saw it as simple individual quirk and those who pointed to Tsukiashi’s background as a former HKT48 member as a sign of distance from the rest.

FRUITS ZIPPER, the hugely popular seven-member idol group that also appeared on last year’s 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen (year-end song contest), saw member Ruka Nakagawa (29), who represents the group’s “purple” color, make her solo debut on September 18. That same day, she performed her debut song for the first time on “THE FIRST TAKE,” the YouTube channel where guests sing in a single unedited take.

The debut single is titled “Asa ni Naranaide” (“Don’t Let Morning Come”), a groove-heavy R&B track that has also been chosen as the ending theme for “Mame to Mugi,” the TV Tokyo drama co-starring Asuka Saito (28) and Mio Tomita (26) set to premiere October 2 — a sign that Nakagawa is likely to draw even more attention as a solo artist going forward.

The solo debut is said to have been a long-held wish for Nakagawa. Just before her one-take performance on “THE FIRST TAKE,” she commented, “I love singing, and at some point I started dreaming of becoming someone who could deliver songs solo too. Now that I’ve made my solo debut, that dream has come true today. I’d be happy if my dream could become a small part of someone’s happiness who listens to it.” And after finishing the song, a surprise was waiting for Nakagawa.

That other Nakagawa is a big star in Indonesia these days.

    Background and Talking Points

FRUITS ZIPPER was formed mainly around members who came up through “Kawara Lab” (a reader-model scouting project), and Amane Tsukiashi stands out for having been a member of HKT48 before joining. Within the thread, this difference in background was repeatedly cited as grounds for speculating about a “wall” between her and the other members. At the same time, many pointed out that with seven members, some difference in how well people click is only natural — and the thread split along the line of whether idols should “put on a united front in public” versus whether “personal likes and dislikes should just be accepted.” It’s worth noting that a single moment in a video is thin evidence for concluding there’s bad blood or that someone is being frozen out, and none of those involved have commented on it.

*This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Geinou/Sports News+) thread “[Idol] “My heart skipped” — FRUITS ZIPPER’s Ruka Nakagawa: Amane Tsukiashi alone doesn’t join hands… the “off” feeling fans sensed in the members’ group shot [Ailuropoda melanoleuca★].”

  • Hello! Project Trainee Airi Ohno Earns Vegetable Certifications — 5ch: ‘Sounds Like She’s Declaring She Wants to Join Angerme’

Hello! Project Trainee Airi Ohno (Anyako) announced on the group’s official X (formerly Twitter) account that she has earned certifications as an “Organic Vegetable Advisor” and a “Vegetable Cultivation Specialist.” Hello! Project already has a member who carries the title of “Vegetable Sommelier,” and Ohno’s announcement is being seen as an extension of that trend. Reactions on 5ch were split: some read the certifications as a positive sign — a stepping stone toward joining a senior group like Angerme — while others questioned the practical value of these private certifications and whether they should take priority over idol activities.

    56AnonymousSep 25, 2026 17:24
This will be an important stepping stone toward joining Angerme

    Background and Discussion Points

The “Vegetable Sommelier”-type certifications Ohno earned are private certifications that can be studied for through correspondence courses, not state-recognized qualifications. Within Hello! Project, there’s precedent for members touting personal certifications as a special skill — Yui Murata of Tsubaki Factory, for instance, goes by the title “Vegetable Sommelier” — and Ohno’s announcement was seen as following that same pattern. On the thread, opinions split between a favorable reading (“maybe this is a stepping stone toward a future promotion or move to a senior group”) and a skeptical one (“do these private certifications actually mean anything in practice?” / “shouldn’t she be focused on performance first?”). Beyond her own social media post, little else is known about the certifications themselves, and the reasoning behind earning them — or what effect they’ll have on her future activities — remains unclear for now.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “I’m Hello! Project trainee Airi Ohno! I’m happy to announce that I passed the ‘Organic Vegetable Advisor’ and ‘Vegetable Cultivation Specialist’ courses and earned my certifications!“

  • Juice=Juice’s Budokan & PIA Arena Shows — Effectively Fan-Club-Only — Sell Out 8,000 Seats in First Round; 5ch: ‘This Is on a Whole Different Level’

Juice=Juice’s upcoming performances at Nippon Budokan and PIA Arena MM sold out all 8,000 combined seats across both venues in the first-round sales alone — tickets offered exclusively to fan club members, before general sales even opened. On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, users expressed shock at this drawing power, but opinions split over the cause. Some argued it’s simply fans flowing in from other Hello! Project groups, while others countered that there’s a clear increase in what look like brand-new fans at the venues. The discussion expanded to cover trends in membership numbers, the ticket lottery system, and comparisons of fan demographics with other groups.

    10AnonymousSep 25, 2026 08:58
They pulled every string and went all out, but still didn't book anything bigger than Budokan or PIA Arena, and made it a MOALA-verified show.

Rather than cash in and sell out while they're hot, the ticketing approach basically says "we'll just keep quietly doing shows for our fan club members the same as always, even after the momentum fades."

That's very on-brand for this shoddy agency, honestly.

    87AnonymousSep 25, 2026 11:17
If you don't get tickets you just don't go, and if you do get them you go — so the barrier to applying is actually lower than for a group where you're guaranteed to get in.
It's like gambling, so it stokes that thrill of chance too.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

“MOALA verification,” used for performances on the scale of Budokan or PIA Arena MM, is an anti-scalping system requiring identity verification, and its adoption is spreading for events with hard-to-get tickets. In this case, both venues’ combined 8,000 seats sold out through what was effectively fan-club-only advance sales using this verification system. Where the thread split was over whether this represents genuine growth in new fans or an inflow from other Hello! Project groups like Angerme — some pointed to trends in membership numbers as evidence of new fan inflow, while others argued it can be explained purely by the drawing power of existing fans, and no consensus was reached. The discussion also brought in a comparison of audience demographics (male/female ratio) with BEYOOOOONDS, developing into a debate over shifting popularity between the groups.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Juice=Juice: ‘Effectively fan-club-only events at Nippon Budokan & PIA Arena MM sold out 8,000 seats across both shows in the first round’ — Isn’t that just too amazing?“

  • Juice=Juice’s Popularity Boom: Is It All Down to Vocal Skill? 5ch: ‘Even Their Weakest Singers Beat Other Groups’ Best’

A thread titled “Juice=Juice’s success really comes down to their vocal skill, doesn’t it” popped up on 5ch’s Hello! Project board and drew a wave of responses. Juice=Juice has long been praised as a “group with strong vocal talent,” but opinions split over their recent surge in popularity: some argued it’s simply the payoff of years of accumulated skill, while others credited luck and timing—like a viral song or social media buzz. Some defended the group, saying “even their weakest members sing better than other groups’ top members,” while others pushed back, noting “there was a stretch when their vocal skill was just as strong and they still didn’t sell.”

    1AnonymousSep 25, 2026 12:11
Groups other than Juice should start putting real effort into vocal lessons too.

They were always said to be a high-skill group, remember?
All that accumulated skill is what led to this big hit now.
    7AnonymousSep 25, 2026 12:15
Historically speaking, vocal skill alone only gets you as far as staying inside "the village" (fandom slang for a small, hardcore-only fanbase, as opposed to real mainstream success).
    8AnonymousSep 25, 2026 12:17
There's no way they'd be this popular without their "shutter chance" (a lucky viral break referenced repeatedly in this thread).
    9AnonymousSep 25, 2026 12:18
Say what you will, but in a group that had Takagi and Kanazawa in it, there's an unspoken pressure not to stay bad at singing.
Irie's skills have shot up like crazy too, and Ishiyama—who was notorious as the group's "Gian" (Doraemon's screechy, tone-deaf character, fan slang for an off-key singer) back in her trainee days—keeps getting handed major parts now.
    10AnonymousSep 25, 2026 12:18
Before their big breakout ("Moremi," fan slang for their viral hit/moment), back when their vocal skill was at the same level, they were even less popular within the hardcore fandom than Ocha Norma, and their Budokan show had to be propped up by "Rosy" (fandom nickname, exact reference unclear).
    22AnonymousSep 25, 2026 12:27
    Re: #10
Maybe Tsubaki Factory should get "Rosy" to prop them up too, then.

    31AnonymousSep 25, 2026 12:32
Their breakout hit ("Moremi") owes a lot to songwriter/producer Yamazaki Aoi, but the fact that new fans dig into the back catalog and go "oh, this old song's great too, and this one"—that's because Juice=Juice genuinely has the chops.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Since its formation, Juice=Juice has been praised as a “group with strong vocal talent,” and the thread’s opinions split between those crediting that accumulated skill and those attributing the group’s recent surge in popularity mainly to a viral song or social media buzz (referred to in the thread as “Moremi” and “shutter chance”). The former camp points to things like “even Juice=Juice’s lower-ranked members sing better than other groups’ top members” and “new fans are enjoying even their older songs,” while the latter counters that “there was a period when their vocal skill was just as strong and they still didn’t sell” and that “whether a song goes viral matters more.” Note that the thread never clearly specifies which songs or events “Moremi” and “shutter chance” actually refer to—they appear to be shorthand understood within the Hello! Project fan community, which may make them hard to follow for readers unfamiliar with the fandom. The question of whether talent or buzz drives popularity is also a recurring debate throughout idol culture more broadly.

  • Latest Hello! Project Height Chart Sparks Debate: 5ch Says ‘Juice=Juice Is Fudging Their Numbers’

A thread on a Hello! Project fan forum lit up over a debate about members’ heights. It started when Ichika Arisawa revealed on her own blog that her company health checkup put her at “155.1cm.” That led to an updated height list for Juice=Juice members, but it quickly drew suspicion that the officially published numbers were inflated — the so-called “saba yomi” (literally “reading mackerel,” Japanese slang for fudging a number). The thread also cited a news article noting that Japan’s average height hasn’t grown in recent years and has been overtaken by China and South Korea, stretching the height debate into international comparisons.

Height being low really is one reason Hello! Project doesn't catch on overseas
they don't even get noticed visually to begin with

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Idols’ officially published heights, including at Hello! Project, come from agency profiles and can differ from measured figures like health checkup results. The “saba yomi” (number-fudging) suspicions that circulated in this thread are just unofficial fan guesses based on things like thick-soled boots in stage outfits or comparisons with members of other groups — they’re not backed by verified evidence, which is worth keeping in mind. The claim that Japan’s average height has been overtaken by China and South Korea is based on an August 2026 Nikkei article, which points to nutrition and lifestyle changes as factors. Meanwhile, posts comparing Juice=Juice’s average height (around 162cm) to K-pop groups rely on users’ own calculations and comparison points, not official data. Since the numbers in this thread come from a mix of “official announcements,” “fan observation,” and “news articles,” it’s worth tracking which claim rests on which kind of source.

    17AnonymousSep 25, 2026 11:07
If we're talking popularity in terms of concert turnout, it's nowhere near 10x — but for the light kind of popularity where people just watch a video, the gap could really be that big.
Plus, videos that are already circulating tend to get pushed even harder by the algorithm.

Up until now, Hello! Project groups have danced to other idol groups' songs plenty of times.

And sure, groups they shared a bill with at joint concerts have sometimes danced along to Hello! Project songs together with them.

But other idol groups voluntarily dancing to Hello! Project songs on their own — and several groups doing it at once, no less — that's a genuinely big deal.
    67AnonymousSep 25, 2026 11:33
The name recognition gap with the other Hello! Project groups is just too huge.
    68AnonymousSep 25, 2026 11:36

A lot of fans have already drifted away from Kawaii Lab, so nothing gets traction anymore unless money's been spent on the video.

    Background and Points of Debate

In recent years, TikTok has become a primary way for idol groups to reach new fans, and Hello! Project is no exception — each group’s official account has been ramping up choreography-video posts. What split the thread was whether the gap in view counts comes down to a plain difference in popularity, a difference in presentation (specifically, how much sex appeal is used), or a compounding algorithmic effect where videos that have already gone viral get pushed even harder. Some posters also pointed out that concert attendance figures don’t necessarily track with social media view counts. One thing readers could easily misread: the ‘post count’ figures cited in the thread refer to the number of videos posted using a particular song or dance, not the view count of Juice=Juice’s official account itself — those are different metrics. It’s also worth noting that all of these numbers come from posts on an anonymous message board, not official statistics published by TikTok or the talent agency.

※This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread ‘Juice=Juice’s TikTok views are like 10x other Hello! Project groups’ — what’s actually different?‘

  • Hello! Project Fan Club Numbers Jump 20,000 in a Year — Sign of a New Fan Boom? 5ch Weighs In

A post on 5ch’s “Hello! Project” board caught fire after someone noted that an acquaintance who’d just joined the Hello! Project fan club received a membership number in the 160,000s — prompting the observation, “About a year ago (around June 2025) the numbers were only in the 142,000s, so doesn’t that mean nearly 20,000 new members have joined?” Thread posters floated Juice=Juice’s popularity and buzz around new members as reasons behind the apparent surge in new fans, but opinions split on whether the jump in membership numbers actually reflects real membership growth, given the presence of people with multiple accounts and the handling of members who’ve quit. The discussion also branched into a debate over whether concert tickets should go digital.

These days you have to register your favorite group when you join, so they probably track it that way now.

Background and Key Points of Debate

Hello! Project membership numbers are issued in order of sign-up, so the gap between two numbers works as a rough gauge of how many people have joined. However, it’s never been officially disclosed whether the numbers of members who quit get reused, or how many of the new numbers belong to people holding multiple accounts just to secure concert tickets — so opinions in the thread were split, ranging from “the real figure is much smaller” to “even accounting for duplicate accounts, it’s still grown.” The debate over digital ticketing also split along lines of whether the holdup is Up-Front’s own equipment or logistics at regional venues, with comparisons drawn to other idol fandoms — though all of this remains speculation. Because membership numbers feed directly into ticket competition rates for FC-only shows and into merch sales, the topic draws attention as a proxy for a group’s drawing power. That said, it’s worth keeping in mind that the “20,000 more members” figure raised in this thread is just one person’s guess based on a single member’s registration number, not an official statistic.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Thanks to the flood of new fans, Hello! Project’s FC membership is up 20,000.”

  • New Group ‘JUICYJUICY’ Gets Buried by Juice=Juice in Search Results, Fans Say

New idol group JUICYJUICY has stirred up discussion on 5ch’s Hello! Project board by picking a name confusingly similar to the popular Hello! Project group Juice=Juice. Posters pointed out that searching the katakana rendering “Juicy Juicy” (ジューシージューシー) pulls up Juice=Juice instead, leading many to suspect the name was chosen deliberately to ride on the established group’s recognition. At the same time, some noted that Juice=Juice has unexpectedly surged in popularity on its own, further overshadowing JUICYJUICY — leaving the thread buzzing with the sense that the strategy, if it was one, had spectacularly backfired.

Background and Key Points of Discussion

Not just in Hello! Project, but across the idol industry as a whole, it’s a recurring topic when a new group’s name is similar enough to an existing one that its search results get swallowed up. The JUICYJUICY and Juice=Juice case is a textbook example, and posters repeatedly pointed out that once rendered in katakana, the search results overlap almost completely. The central point of debate was whether the naming was a deliberate attempt to cash in on the established group’s name recognition, or simply a coincidence — opinions stayed split, with no consensus reached. The thread also touched on the general point that popularity among underground and regional idol groups can shift quickly, but unverified rumors about the internal circumstances of specific groups could not be confirmed, so this article does not cover them.

Note: This article is compiled and summarized from excerpts of the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “JUICYJUICY, the ASOBI-produced group that totally tried to cash in on Juice=Juice’s name wwwwwwwwwwwwwww.”

Yukimi Fukunaga, a member of the idol group LOVE Re:MiND who also works as a gravure idol, announced on September 17 that she would be taking about a month off due to poor health. On September 24, she updated her X (formerly Twitter) account to reveal that a worsening chronic condition had led to her being hospitalized in a locked psychiatric ward. On a thread on 5ch’s Geinou/Sports Express+ board, the ominous image conjured up by the term “locked ward” set off a flurry of personal anecdotes and misconceptions about what such wards are actually like. Some urged everyone to quietly leave her be (“just leave her alone”), while others took a more cynical view, suggesting she “just wants attention” — reactions were split. Posters who said they’d actually been hospitalized themselves offered accounts suggesting the environment isn’t always as strict as people imagine.

    23AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:07
This is such a 'just leave her alone' situation
    29AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:13
Even a locked ward isn't that different from a general ward unless you're in a private room — people are just going off appearances
    41AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:23
Do they actually shock you with electricity or dunk you in water in a locked ward?
    43AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:24
    Re: #41
My image is a straitjacket, an empty room, and getting shot up with sedatives

    Re: #41
So there's a building where you get admitted, it's built right next to a cliff, and every so often the cliff collapses and buries the whole building alive… something like that?

    Re: #41
In reality I don't think they have that kind of manpower or time to spare
    47AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:29
Is a locked ward like something out of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest?

    That's old lol
    Though it's a classic lol
    54AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:32
If it's really a locked ward, that's no joke. Though people do get discharged pretty fast, huh.
    63AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:36
Does someone who ends up in a locked ward really get out again in just a month?
    65AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:38
    Re: #63
Once you're on meds and settle down, sometimes you can be out in about 2 months
    75AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:44
Regular hospitals are basically like locked wards too these days — the COVID infection-prevention rules are still in effect, so even seeing family is a high bar
    77AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:46
    Re: #75
I was hospitalized back when they were saying no visits due to COVID, but I could freely go to the convenience store outside. That's not how it works in a locked ward.
    85AnonymousSep 25, 2026 06:53
Doesn't 'locked' mean you can't get in from outside? Sounds dangerous if some unhinged person shows up

    Re: #85
You can't get in or out without someone unlocking doors that are double- or triple-locked, both from outside and inside

Background and key points of this discussion

A locked ward refers to a ward where the entrances are kept locked at all times, and patients and visitors cannot come and go freely without a staff member unlocking the door. The degree of restriction depends on the type of admission (voluntary vs. involuntary medical-protection admission, etc.), and posters in the thread shared firsthand accounts such as “unless you’re in an isolation room, it’s not that different from a general ward” and “some hospitals even have smoking rooms” — suggesting that associations with electroshock or straitjackets don’t necessarily match reality. Fukunaga has only disclosed that a “chronic condition worsened,” without revealing a specific diagnosis or symptoms, so it’s worth noting that the thread’s various speculations remain just that — speculation. It’s no longer rare for celebrities to publicly disclose their own mental health struggles, but the fact that reactions here split between sympathy and skepticism reflects a broader gap in public understanding of mental illness and psychiatric hospitalization.

  • Gravure Idol’s Promo Photo Looks Nothing Like Her in Person — 5ch Cries ‘False-Advertising Scam lol’

Gravure idol and cosplayer Awa Minami updated her official X account on September 23, reporting that despite appearing at an in-store event, not a single fan approached her. Alongside an apology, she self-deprecatingly analyzed the cause, writing that she “can’t rule out the possibility of some discrepancy between the poster and the real thing” — a comment that’s since gone viral. On 5ch, many found the gap between her promotional photos and her actual appearance amusing, while others took a cooler view, suggesting the whole thing was a deliberate publicity stunt, and some pointed out that this kind of “packaging-photo scam” isn’t unusual in the gravure or adult-entertainment industries.

Awa Minami, a talent working as both a cosplayer and gravure idol, updated her official X account on the 23rd. She revealed that although she appeared at an in-store event, the “gap” between her and her promotional poster was so big that no one recognized her — and the revelation is drawing a big reaction.

Awa reported: “Today, even though the store was kind enough to prepare a large poster for me, I currently find myself in the harsh situation of having been approached by zero fans…”

She apologized, saying, “I deeply apologize to the store and everyone involved for the great concern I’ve caused,” and went on: “After thinking it over in my own way, I’ve reached the conclusion that I can’t rule out the possibility of some discrepancy between the poster and the real thing.”

At least put in the effort to dress the same as in the poster.
    11AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:23
This is obviously a deliberate stunt for publicity, right?

They've been running this same gimmick for pachinko-parlor promos for years now — everyone's long since sick of it.

I hope this thread's OP grows up to be the successor to "the Chilean guy" (an old 5ch in-joke about a legendary thread-starter).
    18AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:25
    This is wild…

I've actually met Masami Nagasawa in person, off-camera.
    24AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:26
It's not that she looks different from the poster — isn't it just that nobody knows who she is to begin with?
    27AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:26
This kind of overly calculated stunt is just boring.
    34AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:27
This had me cracking up lol ("草生える," literally "grass is growing," = LOL)
Though it was probably staged on purpose.
    35AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:27
    Feels so forced.
She's clearly marketing herself with that gap as her whole gimmick.
    36AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:27
Guess she's just on a different level (and not in a good way).
I see people who look just like her all the time on X.
    37AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:27
It's not really the photo, it's the outfit that does all the work lol
    This is clearly intentional.
    38AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:27
There's been a lot more of this ever since Joyman (a Japanese comedy duo famous for this kind of exaggerated bit).
    47AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:29
    She's getting complacent just because she's decent-looking.
    49AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:30
This is literally her whole shtick, she's doing it on purpose.
For some reason she keeps joking that it's her mom who shows up to these events.
    50AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:30
She looks like some lady who wandered out in her house clothes to take out the trash.
    51AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:30
Us older guys don't actually mind girls like this.
    54AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:31
Is "zero fans showed up at the pachinko parlor" some kind of trend now?
    56AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:31
This is just a regular customer you'd see hanging around a pachinko parlor.
    57AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:31
Gravure idols can sometimes look way too different between their own DVD covers and
a bit part they play in some TV drama….
    59AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:32
She looks like some frumpy lady in a baggy T-shirt
heading out to the supermarket, doesn't she—
    62AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:33
At this point, the poster and the real her together are basically the complete work of art.
    77AnonymousSep 24, 2026 18:35
To a divorced woman, about "back then" —

"Exactly the same / basically the same"
    or
"Totally different / like a whole different person"

which one am I even supposed to say?? lol

    Background and Talking Points

“Packaging-photo scam” (パケ写詐欺) is slang mocking the gap between promotional photos and the real thing, a term also used in gravure, mail-order shopping, and job ads. In this case, she spread the story herself with an apology-style post on X, and several 5ch commenters speculated it was staged for publicity. This kind of self-deprecating joke has become a common promotional tactic in recent years, aimed at generating goodwill rather than backlash, and using it at in-store events isn’t unusual. Meanwhile, some replies made baseless claims about her body type or career history, but since these can’t be verified, this article does not cover them.
