A thread titled “Every member of the current Juice=Juice has a great personality” appeared on the Hello! Project board, with posters reminiscing about the current members’ characters. They praised Matsunaga Ria for being kind to her juniors, and noted that Kanazawa Tomoko, Uemura Akari, and Ichika have been able to do their own thing without getting mocked by those around them. They also quoted Kawashima Ikka’s remark, “I feel like kindness might actually be a selection criterion.” On the other hand, some recalled that “the original members really did have bad personalities back then,” and the thread settled on the view that the current good team chemistry owes a lot to the influence of leader Uemura and member Dambara.

That's actually pretty amazing, isn't it.
2AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:00
The way you're putting it makes it sound like the original members had bad personalities.

Re: #2
That's because they actually did.

Re: #2
Could you say that to Inaba's face though?

Re: #2
It's not so much "bad personalities" — basically every idol is a rival to every other idol. Uemura was just the least bad because she has no ambition. Though even Uemura has strong likes and dislikes lol

How are you supposed to tell anyone's personality from just this photo?
9AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:05
Matsunaga was a good one from the start — she was kind to Tako-chan.
10AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:05
In any other group, Ichika-chan probably would've gotten crushed.
13AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:07
The fact that Tako and Ichika can do their thing with zero drama, without anyone mocking them, is probably the answer. It gets hard whenever there's a member who sneers at kids like that.

Kawashima: "The members of Juice=Juice are shockingly kind — kind enough that I wonder if kindness is literally a selection criterion."
16AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:09
My strongest memory of Matsunaga is her going totally wild and not listening to anyone during the 'Rimi Sta' segment with Manakan.
17AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:10
I guess it's all down to Dambara's influence — even Rei Rei's turned into a saint-like mother figure.

Re: #17
That's more Uemura's influence than Dambara's.

A 16-year-old schoolgirl who looks like she could be in Hello! Project, horsing around at a cat café

Good to see the little troublemaker who used to go wild grow into a caring senpai. Hayashi seems like she's got quite a strong personality, so it'll be interesting to see how she develops once she loses the "group's youngest kid" buff.

"I don't want to make Dambara-san sad" — it's nice that everyone seems to be thinking that.
26AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:17
Tako-chan's literally the only one with a good personality though.

Re: #26
🤤 What about me?
27AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:17
The ones with bad personalities mostly ended up shuffled off into Kobushi/Tsubaki Factory (a nickname blending the two sister groups), after all. Not totally sure about ANGERME. Beyooooonds have good personalities too.

If that other stuff is reconstituted-from-concentrate juice with metal shavings in the zip-pouch, then this one's 100% pure juice — of course the personalities are good. (wordplay off the group's name, "Juice=Juice")

A group that peaked and died in the original-lineup era.

Re: #31
The original lineup never even got off the ground lol

Matsunaga Ria:
"The current Juice=Juice all talk together and eat meals sitting around a table, but the original members always had their earphones in backstage and only ever looked at the mirror. I often find myself thinking I don't want our juniors to go through that kind of experience. I want them to have nothing but happy experiences and keep smiling forever!!"

Hayashi's got her head on straight — she knows exactly what she's doing playing the baby of the group.
37AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:23
Yesterday's Juice Day event was a big success too.

Ishiyama Sakura:
"It's precisely because Dambara-san is our leader that today's Juice=Juice came together the way it has, and she supported us from back when we were still so inexperienced — that's why we're able to be here now."
43AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:30
It's kind of touching seeing Matsunaga goofing around with the members on TikTok.
44AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:30
That's actually just Matsunaga's natural personality though.
54AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:43
Yafuzou kept sending letters to Mippuru the whole time, and it ended up bringing her back to Juice.
63AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:58
Re: #54
What's admirable is that she doesn't go around saying that herself. Miyamoto's fans keep going around saying "It's all thanks to Karin-chan!" though.
56AnonymousOct 11, 2026 16:45
I don't think I've ever seen a two-shot of Irie and Ishiyama.

Haven't you bought the autumn tour merch?
Background and Key Points of This Topic
Juice=Juice is an idol group under Hello! Project (Up-Front), and over the more than 10 years since its formation it has gone through repeated member departures and additions. What split opinion on the thread was the question of whether the original-member era really did have a harsh atmosphere personality-wise — even fans who remember that period are divided on it. It’s also worth noting that the “good personalities” reputation rests on subjective grounds — the members’ own comments, media remarks, and fans’ personal impressions — rather than any official assessment of character. Dambara Ruru and Uemura Akari, named as reasons the group’s internal atmosphere improved, are both current members, so this can be read as an episode illustrating how team dynamics have shifted alongside generational turnover.
