Nippon Broadcasting System’s “Shimofuri Myojo’s All Night Nippon” announced via its official X account that the late-night broadcast on the 23rd would be cancelled due to Seiya’s poor health — the second consecutive week the show has been pulled. On the forum, while many expressed concern for his health (“That’s a long time, honestly,” “Probably COVID or something”), the fact that the show is built around the duo format also drew plenty of ribbing, like “Can’t Soshina just do it solo?” No specific reason or diagnosis has been disclosed, and posts speculating on the cause remain just that — speculation.
Seiya’s illness drags on: “Shimofuri Myojo’s ANN” pulled for 2nd week running — “Is he seriously okay?” worried posts flood X
Nippon Broadcasting System’s “Shimofuri Myojo’s All Night Nippon” (Fridays, 1am) updated its official X account as of the 22nd.
It announced that the late-night broadcast on the 23rd would be cancelled due to poor health of Shimofuri Myojo’s Seiya (34).
Wait, he's been sick since the 9th? That really is a long time.

If he were actually going on medical leave they'd announce it properly — so what's going on?
12AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:03
So Soshina can't even do the radio show solo?!
39AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:21
Re: #12
When he did it with his entourage before, it was dead boring.
13AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:04
Seiya: "After I die, keep it secret for three years" (riffing on the famous dying order attributed to warlord Takeda Shingen)

Re: #4
Nah come on, he's alive!
Probably COVID or something.
17AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:05
Not sure how many regular shows he's got, but I wonder what's happening with the others.
20AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:07
Is this gonna turn into a mental thing, like with "Chibi" from Ninety-Nine? (nickname for comedian Okamura, who has struggled with panic disorder)
23AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:08
Acting like Beat Takeshi, who used to skip ANN all the time on a whim?
25AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:09
Fairly successful Yoshimoto comedians do a ton of stage shows too, so it's no wonder some of them break down physically.
You need serious stamina to keep that up.

Re: #25
Worked like a literal draft horse.

Re: #25
Watching popular celebrities, I sometimes think the sheer distance they travel must be insane.
27AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:11
I rely on this show through Spotify.
31AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:15
Normally in a case like this, wouldn't the partner just say "sorry for the inconvenience" and carry it solo?
35AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:17
Re: #31
Meanwhile Shitara handles "Banana [Moon GOLD]" solo just fine. (Shitara, of the comedy duo Bananaman)
32AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:15
The whole appeal of radio is one guy carrying it solo when his partner's out — did he just dodge that?
37AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:18
???: "Radio pay is way too low, man."
45AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:28
Re: #37
Radio pay is low, but it's recorded live, the time commitment is short, you can wear your own clothes since looks don't matter, nobody can see you so you can talk loose, and since basically nobody's listening, edgy topics come up more easily.
38AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:20
Wait, wasn't this week supposed to be a special week?
So instead of having Soshina bring in a last-minute guest, they're having a completely different comedian host it instead?
I don't really get it.
40AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:22
Shimofuri's ANN has had Soshina rubbing his eyes and talking half-asleep since the early days, and it's still going strong, huh.
43AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:25
Honestly, neither Shimofuri nor Nippon Broadcasting seems to care much either way.
46AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:29
Seiya: "Mr. Idota, why is your motorcycle that color? lol" (Idota, of the comedy trio America Zarigani)
47AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:34
Geradon, who just became champions, probably has more pull anyway. (comedy trio who recently won a comedy competition)
51AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:42
Seems like the flu is lingering longer than usual this year.
52AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:42
Can Soshina not do radio solo?
56AnonymousOct 22, 2026 11:22
Seiya did say before that he's had insomnia.
57AnonymousOct 22, 2026 11:25
Saito's case also started out as a mysterious illness at first, remember.
58AnonymousOct 22, 2026 11:26
So it's a duo where the show doesn't work unless both are there.
They could just do it with Soshina plus a guest though.
65AnonymousOct 22, 2026 11:46
Seiya's got a ton of regular show appearances — is he gonna be okay?
72AnonymousOct 22, 2026 12:04
Re: #65
There's no shortage of replacements.
66AnonymousOct 22, 2026 11:52
Surprised that Soshina can't do radio alone.
70AnonymousOct 22, 2026 12:02
This really is dragging on — might be something serious.
Wasn't there something about how he left [a show] that seemed kind of alarming?
Could it be something like that Nasunakanishi guy's stroke? (referring to a member of the comedy duo Nasunakanishi, who previously suffered a cerebral infarction)
Well, he's got a lot of regular shows, so there'll probably be some kind of announcement eventually.
71AnonymousOct 22, 2026 12:02
Didn't he leave the radio show early but still show up at the fan appreciation festival the next day?
77AnonymousOct 22, 2026 12:10
This Yoshimoto lineage — Okamura → Kajiwara → Seiya — they all end up with health problems at some point, huh.
Background and key points of this discussion
“All Night Nippon” is Nippon Broadcasting System’s flagship late-night program, and it’s often hosted by comedy duos as a pair, meaning that if one half is absent, the recording itself becomes hard to pull off. The recurring jab in the thread — “Can’t Soshina just do it solo?” — reflects this structural constraint of the show’s format, not any real doubt about Soshina’s individual ability. The official announcement only cites “poor health” as the reason for the hiatus, so posts floating theories like the flu or exhaustion remain pure speculation. Some commenters also brought up past cases of top Yoshimoto comedians like Takashi Okamura and Yuta Kajiwara falling ill and taking time off, but these are separate past incidents with their own circumstances, and no evidence has been presented linking them directly to Seiya’s current condition.
