The story
Kojima Productions has issued an official statement in response to spreading online speculation about a change in publishing partner for its new title, PHYSINT. Even before the statement, observers had already noted conflicting accounts from both sides over whether the contract change was truly “sudden” and which party was responsible for how the news got out. On 5ch, opinions split over whether Sony or Kojima Productions was more at fault for how the deal fell apart, and attention also focused on the fact that it remains undecided whether the new game will ultimately launch on PlayStation, Xbox, or both.
What people said
Recently, an article about KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS was published online.
This has sparked widespread speculation about the reasons behind the change in publishing partner for "PHYSINT." Some of you may have seen this unfold yourselves.
The new game is coming to Xbox
Not coming to PlayStation
Ugh, Xbox fanboy
It's not even confirmed yet, quit jumping to conclusions
They went around saying Sony unilaterally cut the contract, and now this? Give me a break.
Exactly
And they're the ones who were sending out the 'funnels' (sicced their fanbase on people, Gundam reference) to begin with
And not even a word of thanks.
They reaped what they sowed.
There's no reason to be thankful when you get suddenly cut off
'Sony reaped what they sowed' works just as well as an explanation
Is there even any point for MS to allow a multiplatform release?
An 'asha' (exclusivity supremacist)
'Why would you even think it's coming to that crappy PlayStation?'
Well, at least it's a relief that Kojima doesn't actually have the final say here
Still, it'll probably end up exclusive
I figured the story was already finished
Even OVERDOSE is still being reshot because an actor died, don't ask for miracles here…
Rick? Michonne? Tyreese?
Madonsoku (nonsense name) and Minami Hamabe
It's 'Physint,' not that
It's 'financier' (the little cake), not 'Physint'
That's up to Microsoft though
They'd need to post a photo of 'Asha' shaking hands with Totoki (Sony's Hiroki Totoki) or something
And it won't come to PS unless Microsoft, who's footing the development bill, repeats the old-era blunder of releasing it multiplatform on PS.
So true
By the time Physint comes out, MS will need to be busy selling Helix (their new console), so there's no real reason for them to bother putting it on PS
Shut up, just release it already…
I could even live with it if it stayed multiplat up through PC.
I used to think that too
But the conclusion is probably just 'releasing two titles would only pile up more losses'
Kojima put Death Stranding 1 on Xbox too, after all
So from SIE's perspective there's probably no upside left in it
Death Stranding cost a ton of money too though
Kojima is basically a god, don'tcha know
Can you not read?
The great 'Kojima of the world' himself said it!!
Background and Key Points of the Debate
PHYSINT is a new title from Kojima Productions, led by Hideo Kojima, and news that its original publishing arrangement was changing set off a wave of online speculation — theories ranging from “Sony unilaterally cut the contract” to “Kojima Productions was the one who stirred up conflict first with its post on X.” This official statement appears aimed at calming things down, but the statement itself is only touched on in fragments within the article, and 5ch’s reaction has largely turned into a contest of reading between the lines. Threads repeatedly circled around business performance (“profit,” “loss”) and which platform the game will ultimately land on (“Xbox exclusive,” “PlayStation return”), but none of this has been officially confirmed — it remains speculation on an anonymous message board. Readers should be careful to separate the emotional back-and-forth of defenders and critics from the facts actually stated in the official statement.
