The story
Analysis by overseas outlet Digital Foundry has revealed that GTA6 runs at native 1440p/30fps on the base PS5, without relying on any upscaling. The fact that hardware nearly six years old can deliver this level of visual quality drew surprise on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (“Geha”) board, and the discussion soon expanded to whether a 60fps performance mode exists, how it compares to the PC version, and the PS5-vs-Xbox pre-order ratio — turning the thread into a wide-ranging mix of technical talk and sales speculation.

Looks like GTA 6 runs at native 1440p, 30FPS on the base model PS5 without upscaling

Wow, the Pro's going for a ridiculous price now.
I bought my PS5 during the pandemic and just kept using it.
Not just PS5 — every console's controller settings menu is horribly inconvenient, it's a pain…
Though I'd also want a high-res mode for screenshots.
It's probably the CPU that's the bottleneck, not the GPU, so that's a tough ask, right?
Honestly it's impressive this quality runs at even 30fps on a 6-year-old console.
There was a leak about GTA Online's internals, and it seems consoles are just more profitable.
Rough news for someone like me who leans PC.
It really was hell.
I'm a casual who played GTA3 on PC back in real time (barely in my 30s now),
but the cheating in GTA5's PC multiplayer was so bad I basically couldn't play it…
Pre-orders are apparently almost 80% PS5 so far, but will we be able to play with Xbox users too?
I'm not one of those console-war types, so I just hope everyone can play together.
Nah, we're fine without cross-play.
If it's unused, you could probably get about that much.
I just get the feeling memory was so tight they couldn't even use upscaling.
The PS5 box has "4K" printed on it in huge letters, and yet the console's flagship title isn't even 4K?
What's going on with their memory management?
That console only has like 50-60% the power of an RTX 5060.
Guess they really did design this with PC in mind 😁
If you knew the player ratio for GTA Online, you couldn't say something that dumb.
It's obviously PS6 that's the priority, however you look at it.
What is this guy even saying?
He just wants people to double-dip and buy it twice 😁
I've been on PC since GTA3, but yeah, PlayStation is genuinely where GTA Online thrives.
I'm not into roleplay servers or creepy anime-character avatars, so I couldn't enjoy that side of the PC version.
And honestly, it's the cheaters.
The number of cheaters is night and day between the two.
But still… I want to play GTA on PC…
Overwhelming sales.
Overwhelming buzz.
Come brag about it after it's actually sold, would you.
If you're going that far, why not just get a PC?
These days you can get a TV with all the gaming features for around 150,000 yen,
and it might even be mini-LED.
Prices have come down a lot.
It's already selling well — what exactly are you seeing?
Oh yeah? So how many has it sold so far?
It's not like every single title is obligated to support it.
There are actually plenty of games that do support 4K.
Why don't you just do the math yourself from the source in this thread?
Or can't you even manage that?
[Good News] GTA6 pre-orders: PS5 version up 606%, blowing Xbox out of the water!

You can see it, right?
Even looking at that, I can't tell how many have already sold, so enlighten this idiot.
True, if you're running a 40-series or newer GPU.
Even the entry-level 60-class card can hit 4K/60fps with DLSS.
DLSS 4.5 has been a total game-changer.
GTA Online is probably going to keep getting updates for years, so by the time it ends, it'll probably be broken anyway.
Guess even the Pro can't hit 60fps at 1080p either.
If it were a purely solo game, sure, but this is a game where 10+ people are running around online in the same space.
It'll depend on your connection too, but I doubt they can even lock 30fps for the online mode.
Come to think of it, it's pretty rare for a console to already be lying to you right there on the box.
If you've never touched PC gaming, you end up writing comments like this without realizing it.
There's not enough RAM to even run FSR, so it's physically impossible.
Background and Key Points of This Topic
GTA6 is Rockstar Games’ latest title, slated for release on PS5, Xbox, and PC. Digital Foundry is an overseas outlet well known for its visual analysis, regularly publishing articles that measure actual hardware performance in terms of frame rate and resolution — and this report’s claim of “native 1440p/30fps without upscaling” is based on that kind of hands-on analysis. The finding applies to the base PS5 model, which is distinct from how the higher-end PS5 Pro performs, though some posts in the thread conflated the two. It’s also worth noting that the cited figure — “PS5 version pre-orders up 606%” — comes from a specific retailer’s pre-order data mentioned in a separate thread, not official sales figures or final shipment numbers. Whether a 60fps performance mode exists remains unconfirmed at this time, and the heavy CPU demands typical of big open-world titles are thought to be a factor.
