The story

It was announced on November 2, 2026 that married couple Noritake Kinoshi (64) of the comedy duo Tunnels and actress Narumi Yasuda (59) will appear together for the first time, playing husband and wife in a new commercial for UCC Ueshima Coffee. The ad depicts everyday happiness, with Kinoshi hand-dripping coffee and Yasuda smiling with a mug in hand. On 5ch, the thread lit up with comparisons to Takaaki Ishibashi — Kinoshi’s longtime comedy partner, who has been divorced multiple times — along with talk of Yasuda’s old song “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” and behind-the-scenes gossip that the couple once chartered a boat for their wedding.

It has been learned that Noritake Kinoshi (64) of Tunnels and his wife, actress Narumi Yasuda (59), will appear together in a commercial for the first time. The UCC Ueshima Coffee TV ad begins airing nationwide the same day.

Their backing is just on a totally different level.

Who's blocking the home video release of 'Soroban-zuku'?

Even in scenes set inside the house, he can't take off that hat — must be rough.

My dad went to their wedding and came home with a fancy custom return-gift — a Noritake x Narumi collab piece (yes, the china brands matching their names). I could probably dig it up somewhere — think it'd fetch a good price on Mercari?

Re: #9
Fans would snap it up — you should sell it.

When Narumi Yasuda was a guest on Nori-san's radio show, he played 'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.'

Re: #10
There's a re-recorded version out now, called 'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (2024 ver.).'

On December 20, 2021, every film directed by Yoshimitsu Morita since his commercial debut was released as a 27-disc Blu-ray box set titled 'Morita Yoshimitsu 70th Birthday Memorial: Complete Director's Works (a nod to his film Something Like That), Complete Limited Edition,' put out by Nikkatsu/Happinet Media Marketing for 110,000 yen — except 'Soroban-zuku' is the one film missing from it.

That's actually a real problem.

I've seen Kinoshi in person — I'm 180cm and he's almost exactly my height, surprisingly big guy.
18AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:26
Boring.

Come on, go trash the set or something, make us laugh.

Re: #13
He's busy with his 'Baron' thing (one of his side projects) — cut him some slack.

Didn't realize Marao Shioda was still alive — this thread jogged my memory, looked him up on Wikipedia and was shocked.
25AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:31
So the two of them even go together to set up Kinoshi's art exhibitions out in the regions.
26AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:31
Meanwhile Ishibashi ('Bashi-Taka') went through a late-life divorce and is dealing with illness on top of it.
27AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:32
I really want to watch 'Kono Ai ni Ikite' (Living for This Love) again.
Why won't they let me?!
29AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:35
Ishibashi's just not useful anymore, so it's got to be the married couple carrying things from here on out.
30AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:36
I see Kinoshi around a lot — are the production companies or sponsors just fans of his?
There's basically zero public demand and his shows get no ratings, he's totally played out — they don't need to keep casting him.
35AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:41
I kind of love how deliberately staged Narumi Yasuda's commercials are.
37AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:43
Fun fact: both of them have done canned coffee commercials before.
39AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:50
'Soroban-zuku' was honestly pretty boring.
41AnonymousNov 2, 2026 18:57
This thread's crawling with people who call Taki 'Pierre' (odd jab, since Pierre Taki is already his stage name).
52AnonymousNov 2, 2026 19:10
Kinoshi was head over heels and pushed hard for the marriage, from what I recall.
Turned out great in the end.

Re: #52
She ended up blessed with kids and seems happy, but it feels like she gave up the most crucial years of her acting career.
If she hadn't married, she probably could've been on top of the industry.
57AnonymousNov 2, 2026 19:16
It never even plays in the actual movie,
but somehow everyone still knows Narumi's 'Nausicaä' song.
69AnonymousNov 2, 2026 19:50
Narumi Yasuda and Honami Suzuki are both nearly 60 and their looks are just unreal.
80AnonymousNov 2, 2026 20:22
Ishibashi Takaaki married twice, divorced twice, and all four daughters take after him.
Kinoshi's been married 32 years and the couple's still going strong. Both married actresses — where did the two of them diverge?

Re: #80
Exactly.
So anyone saying 'Ishibashi's the more normal one' clearly doesn't know the full story.

Background and Talking Points

Narumi Yasuda’s song “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” is well known through streaming, but posters pointed out that it never actually plays in the film itself. As for Takaaki Ishibashi, Kinoshi’s comedy partner, talk of his divorces and health issues came up repeatedly, with many framing him as a “contrast” to Kinoshi — though pushback against the idea that “Ishibashi is the more normal one” also surfaced, so opinion wasn’t entirely one-sided. Posters also noted that ‘Soroban-zuku’ is the sole film missing from the Blu-ray box set collecting director Yoshimitsu Morita’s complete works, highlighting a surprising gap in the archival record tied to the couple’s careers. There was also talk that the couple chartered a boat for their wedding and kept the press out, though this and other such details come only from thread posts, with no official confirmation — worth keeping in mind.
