The story
Former Fuji TV announcer Nagisa Watanabe (29) updated her Instagram by October 31, protesting an online article about her. The article in question carried the headline “Islam puts women at ease — Japan, meanwhile, makes you feel like a woman,” and Watanabe said, “Please stop twisting things I never wrote and spreading them,” declaring she would take action — including a disclosure request — over what she called false content. The site in question deleted the article and apologized on its official X account. On 5ch, opinions split over whether the headline was a distorted summary of her own serialized essay for Post Seven, or simply a reposted thread title lifted straight from Nan-G (a 5ch board).

Former announcer Nagisa Watanabe (29), who left Fuji TV at the end of August 2024, updated her Instagram by the 31st, calling out a certain online media outlet.
In an Instagram Story, she quoted a web news item headlined “[Sad News] Nagisa Watanabe: ‘Islam puts women at ease. Japan, meanwhile, makes you feel like a woman.’” She wrote, “I never said or wrote anything like what’s in this title. Please stop twisting my writing to suit whatever you want to believe and spreading it as if it were fact,” adding, “Since this post contains false content, I will take appropriate action, including a disclosure request.”

What people said
It's not deliberate, though —
it's more like they're just digging up dirt on an announcer on their own (pun: アナ = both "hole" and "announcer").
Getting just one aggregator site to delete it accomplishes nothing.
it's a win-win, innit.
[Sad News] Nagisa Watanabe: 'Islam puts women at ease. Japan, meanwhile, makes you feel like a woman.'
A personal account that posts 5ch thread summaries as "news" just copied the board's thread title verbatim — that's why she's saying she never said the words in this headline. It's not some daily news site like the ones on Yahoo, just a personal account.
The essay on Yahoo News has been taken down, but the original essay on Post Seven is still up.
Even if she doesn't like this headline, I wish she'd explain what she was actually trying to say.
Even Watanabe was taken aback by the low internet literacy of the sports/entertainment board crowd.

> She went on: "This looks like a news site, but when you click the link the article doesn't even exist, and there's no source listed for this headline either.
> A little thought would tell you it's fake, yet so many people believe this kind of thing is true — I'm shocked at how low internet literacy is…"
The source was Nan-G (a 5ch sports-chat board), you know.
It was the title of a thread started on Nan-G.
Nan-G users may have fired off hundreds of replies having read only that thread title, but
that's a literacy problem on Nan-G's end.
And you've got no literacy either.
But that's a reaction to the primary source (the essay), lol.
Everyone who actually read the primary source is confused about what's even supposed to be wrong with it.
Why are people provoking those who read the essay (the primary source) by calling them low in internet literacy?
With aggregator sites like this, it's not just her — you should check the primary source no matter who it's about.
They're nothing but clickbait titles.
never written a single thing
about Saudi Arabia
and that it was pure fabrication,
but turns out
she did in fact bring up Saudi Arabia before.
She's actually mentioned Saudi Arabia four times before —
three times in her column series and once on a livestream (now deleted) — so you can't really say she never made any kind of assessment of Saudi Arabia.
First time I've seen people actually get hooked by an aggregator site lmaooooo
She says she never said Islam puts women at ease — so what did she actually say?
She is criticizing Islam itself, though, right?
There's no demand for it.
My impression this time was that a lot of people actually did check the primary-source essay properly.
And even having read it, they didn't feel anything was off about this headline.
This guy's Japanese is shaky.
Question: What was the post?
Answer: That explanation right there.
Doesn't seem off to me at all.
I think it's your intelligence that's shaky.
They probably just wanted to know the original — what Nagisa Watanabe actually posted
that ended up getting turned into a summary
like that.

people who can't understand it
Re: #61
people who can
Something like the Yukan Fuji?
Even the fine-print note at the bottom is quoted verbatim.

Background and key points of this story
A disclosure request for sender information is a civil procedure used to identify anonymous posters, and in recent years an increasing number of celebrities have turned to it in response to defamation or impersonation. The article at the center of this controversy appears to have originated from an account that distributes 5ch (Nan-G) thread titles verbatim as “news,” and users in the thread pointed out that similar repost-style accounts exist elsewhere. The primary source for Watanabe’s own remarks was her serialized essay for Post Seven; the corresponding Yahoo version of the essay has been taken down, but the original Post Seven article was still up as of the 31st. Within the thread, a divide emerged between those who had read the primary essay and felt nothing was off about the headline, and those who questioned the literacy of people who judged based on the headline alone — with both sides splitting according to which source they had actually read, a dynamic that sets this apart from a typical online firestorm.
