The story

On October 17, 2026, Hololive talent Laplus Darkness sparked a reaction with a post on X expressing her refusal of sexual harassment. Her talent agency, Cover Corporation, explained that the post stemmed from sexually explicit images of exposed genitals being sent to her account without consent, and revealed that she posted impulsively because similar incidents had happened before. On 5ch, discussion centered on backlash over the post appearing to be aimed at listeners as a whole, and on the contradiction of how the images reached her account at all, given that her DMs were supposedly closed.

Thank you for your continued support of hololive production.

We have received a great deal of feedback regarding the post made by our talent, Laplus Darkness, on X on October 17, 2026. We would like to explain the circumstances that led to this post and our company’s response.

That was 100% aimed at the listeners

Dropping the "I got sent dick pics" excuse after the fact isn't cool
Such a classic "woman move"

Re: #6
She actually explained it properly on her alt account
Guess you wouldn't know that if all you've seen are reposts from crappy affiliate blogs (lit. "affi-affi poop-man," 5ch slang mocking clickbait aggregator sites)
21AnonymousOct 20, 2026 22:41
Oh good, so there was no sexual harassment comment after all… 😭
28AnonymousOct 20, 2026 22:43
Don't mess with the guy who actually sent the dick pic ("chin-totsu," slang for a dick-pic drive-by)
Why'd she pick a fight with listeners who just left a horny comment???
33AnonymousOct 20, 2026 22:45
Re: #28
Exactly this
I seriously don't get it
49AnonymousOct 20, 2026 22:58
So what was that comment about "it's only okay because of the relationship between us"?
Is there some scene I don't know about where close friends just trade dick pics?
52AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:00
Re: #49
Exactly, lol
If that comment was about being sent the explicit pic, then by that logic it's fine to send genital pics as long as there's mutual trust, lol
58AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:01

Otaku, plural?
A corporate talent leaving her DMs open to random members of the public?
68AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:07
Re: #65
Whoa whoa, the activist herself has descended on this very thread…

Re: #68
You're the one who got summoned
I summoned this thread
97AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:18
By the way, Laplus doesn't have her X DMs open to everyone, so only mutual followers could have sent her the explicit image
102AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:20
Re: #97
Lol
So it's harassment between people who already have a relationship — guess that makes it "fine" by this VTuber's own logic
106AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:21
Re: #97
Only mutual followers could've sent the explicit pic, yet random listeners got told "you harassing otaku men need to stop with the harassment comments" — way too harsh on the innocent ones 😭
110AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:23
Re: #97
Wait, is this for real?
So she was harassed by someone close to her, not some random stranger
108AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:22
Re: #106
This is seriously hilarious
It's like regular listeners who never sent any dick pics just got randomly punched in the face
109AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:23
Hololive talents don't have open DMs, so sending it directly should be impossible, right?

Does that mean it was sent to the "nakami" account (the performer's personal account behind the character)?
But then complaining about it on Laplus's own character account
…yeah, no wonder everyone's reacting with "what the heck" 😩
114AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:25
Re: #109
The official statement specifically says it was sent to Laplus's account, so it's not the "nakami" (behind-the-character) account
They're digging their own grave here

Re: #114
"Laplus Darkness's (sub) account!!!"

That's the escape hatch, right?
122AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:27
Re: #118
You can't send to the sub account either

125AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:28
Re: #122
Lol
What on earth is going on here
129AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:29
Re: #122
Maybe she closed her DMs after it was sent, who knows
130AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:29
So does that mean the dick-pic sender is somewhere among the mutual followers, out of the 1,400 people she follows?
134AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:31
Re: #130
If it was sent by a mutual follower,
then someone with an actual relationship to her is the one who did it

Which would mean it was extremely rude and inappropriate for Laplus to tell ordinary listeners who AREN'T mutual followers to "stop with the harassment comments, you harassing otaku men"

I seriously doubt she and the agency thought this far through before putting out that statement
150AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:36
So Laplus wins this one, huh
153AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:37
Re: #150
Nah, she apologized, so that's a loss
156AnonymousOct 20, 2026 23:38
Re: #153
She hasn't deleted the tweet though, so it's not a loss yet

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Among VTuber agencies like Hololive, it has become increasingly common for official statements to lay out a response policy toward slander or sexual harassment directed at talents, and Cover Corporation’s explanation here is one such example. Where opinions in the thread split was over the fact that her post appeared to be aimed even at “ordinary listeners who had simply left a horny comment.” As for how the image reached her despite her DMs reportedly being closed to everyone but mutual followers, multiple theories were floated — such as it being sent via a sub-account — but the agency offered no concrete explanation, leaving the matter unresolved. Neither the sender’s identity nor further details of the incident have been officially disclosed. The thread also saw opinions that sending unsolicited explicit images should itself be legally regulated, reflecting a pattern of similar incidents repeatedly becoming a talking point around VTubers.
