Calls Grow for New Member Ahead of Reiruru’s Graduation — 5ch: ‘The Hole Reiruru Leaves Is Way Too Big’

The story

On a Hello! Project fan thread, anticipation over a possible new member for Juice=Juice ahead of Reiruru’s graduation became a hot topic. Posters repeatedly called for a recruit at least 160cm tall with strong vocal skills, floating trainee names like Yoshida Hikari, Nemoto Karin, and Ohno Airi — though others pushed back with a harsher take: ‘there’s no real talent among the current trainees.’ A CanCam interview was also brought up, in which current member Ishiyama Sakura talked about ‘the sheer impact of all 11 members lined up shoulder to shoulder,’ underscoring the group’s now-established trend toward taller members. Some also revisited the past decade of BP award winners and which groups they were later assigned to, noting that many current members — including Danbara, Matsunaga, Kawashima, and Hayashi — rose up through the trainee ranks.

Yoshida Hikari-chan
Nemoto Karin-chan
Ohno Airi-chan

Sorry, but under 160cm is kind of a dealbreaker
5AnonymousSep 12, 2026 22:48
Not needed unless she's Ebata-tier
Would be great if the new auditions turn up someone Ebata-tier though

CanCam exclusive interview [Juice=Juice's Ishiyama Sakura & Endo Ayakari]

Q. If you come to a Juice=Juice live, what would you want people to focus on — for the group as a whole, for yourself, and for each other?

Sakura: For the group as a whole, honestly, just the whole performance. It's not just that the singing is good — we've got so many seniors who are almost too skilled, so I just want people to simply enjoy the music. And because everyone's tall with such great style, there's a real impact when all 11 of us line up shoulder to shoulder — it's something else. I really want people to pay attention to that.

They're succeeding by going tall, so there's no room for short members anymore

Finding someone to fill Reiruru's shoes won't be easy
At least there's no one like that among the current trainees
10AnonymousSep 12, 2026 22:56
If they held auditions right now, I bet a lot of high-level talent would turn up
11AnonymousSep 12, 2026 22:57
Someone who admires Danbara, came up through auditions, and can really sing — that'd be Tsutsui
15AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:03
The most skilled trainee right now is Nemokari (nickname for Nemoto Karin)
16AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:04
Guess this is the fallout from putting someone who wasn't a strong vocalist into Juice at a time when they needed to reinforce singing members
17AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:05
Let's be honest — there's no standout among the current trainees with high idol charisma, height, and vocal skill all at once
With TV appearances on the rise, throwing in a junior-high schooler would just be dead weight
Bringing in someone like Nagano or Tsutsui after their group's disbandment would be a better, more immediate contributor

BP award winners — past 10 years

2017 Danbara ⇒ Juice=Juice
2018 Shimakura ⇒ BEYOOOOONDS
2019 Matsunaga ⇒ Juice=Juice
2020 Ishiguri ⇒ OCHA NORMA
2021 Yokaze ⇒ Tsubaki Factory
2022 Matsubara / Onoda ⇒ ROSY CHRONICLE
2023 Kawashima ⇒ Juice=Juice
2024 Hayashi ⇒ Juice=Juice
2025 Nishimura ⇒ Tsubaki Factory
2026 Ishikawa ⇒ Morning Musume.

Next BP award winner, it's ANGERME's turn

2027 Kishida or Nemoto ⇒ to ANGERME

Seems like the flagship group just isn't taking trainees anymore
20AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:09
Wouldn't there be demand for a Juice=Juice-only audition?
23AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:11
Re: #20
Now that you mention it, unlike Musume. or ANGERME, they've never actually run a Juice=Juice-only audition, have they
22AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:10
And the high-level girls it reels in get funneled straight into the trainee program
26AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:12
Surprised Danbara and Matsunaga's wins were only 2 years apart
Well, that was Danbara's second time though
27AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:14
By the way, in 2016 it was Kassaa and Momomohime
28AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:15
Tall × strong vocals only, please. No room for anyone who can't sing in tune
29AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:18
For Juice=Juice, I'd nominate the tall Aoki Yuuna-chan and Suzuki Kotomi-chan
31AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:37
If both of them keep being popular, they won't quit before 30
32AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:39
They already picked up strong vocalists back-to-back with Kawashima and Hayashi, so Juice isn't in a state to add a new member right now
Anyone added now would just get buried and fade out
43AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:46
Re: #32
Fine if they get buried
The whole point is to bring in real talent and raise them while Reiruru's still around
34AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:40
For ANGERME, Aoki, Ono, and Tamura would be plenty, no?
40AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:43
Is Yoshida really going to be okay joining Juice=Juice? Hope the pressure doesn't break her
41AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:45
Re: #40
JJ's had two members get worn down mentally and come back, after all
42AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:45
Re: #40
Compared to Mippuru and Risachi, who broke down once and came back, the recovery was actually pretty quick
46AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:47
Re: #43
Isn't that Kawashima and Hayashi you're describing?
52AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:49
Re: #46
The hole Reiruru leaves is way too big
You can never have too many standout talents
47AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:47
Apparently both Danbara and Inoue say they want to go as far as they can with everyone in Juice=Juice, so graduation isn't on their minds at all
61AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:54
Re: #47
Sounds like she'll be around a long time
I've been watching her so long already, I'm satisfied
53AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:50
Joining after they've already gone viral has to be an unprecedented level of pressure though
57AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:52
Re: #53
That's incredibly lucky, if you ask me
58AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:52
Re: #53
Morning Musume. used to be exactly like that too
60AnonymousSep 12, 2026 23:54
Good, Yamamoto hasn't been discovered yet
65AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:13
Re: #60
With school/college concerns in the mix, a group as busy as Juice was never really in the running to begin with
66AnonymousSep 13, 2026 00:15
Re: #65
I see
She's a Hello! Project treasure, let's take good care of her

Background and key points of this discussion

In Hello! Project, promoting trainees into full groups has become routine, and the list of BP award winners from 2017–2026 raised in the thread shows just how many of them ended up assigned to Juice=Juice. Many of the group’s current core members, including Reiruru, also joined through this same trainee pipeline, which is why filling a vacancy left by a graduation always draws intense fan interest. The thread saw a clash between those wanting ‘someone tall with strong vocals’ and a more cautious view that ‘adding someone right now would just leave them buried’ — a reminder that this isn’t simply about filling a headcount, but also about training time and balance with existing members, a point that’s easy to overlook. It’s worth noting that no actual new member or fresh audition has been officially announced, so everything in the thread remains fan speculation and wishful thinking.
