It’s been announced that Akisa Sugihara, an 18th-generation member of Morning Musume。’27 who joined in March 2026, will hold her first “Birthday Event” exclusively for fan club members on January 21, 2027, at I’MA SHOW in Tokyo. The show runs two performances at 4,700 yen each. On the forum thread, discussion centered on whether holding the event 10 months after joining counts as early or late, with fans also speculating about the timing and venues for fellow 18th-gen members Yasuda, Suzuki, and Ishikawa. Meanwhile, posts comparing the venue’s size to other members’ events drew some pushback, and the topic spread in several directions.

Her very first birthday event, and it's already a month late lol
9AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:02
'Already,' huh — her join date was 3/21, so yeah, it's been 10 months
11AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:03
Has it been a while since a first-year birthday event happened?
12AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:04
If they skipped it this time, it'd end up being almost 1 year 10 months after joining before she ever got one
13AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:04
There's kind of an unwritten rule that you can hold one once you're about half a year in
18AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:09
Goto's first one was here too
Hope she grows bigger step by step from here
20AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:11
Born December 20, 2011
Maybe doing it next year is a way to line up the event year with the other members?
21AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:12
It's next year simply because of December's schedule
Her birthday overlaps with Yokaze (a fellow member's nickname) anyway
22AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:12
Considering they'd have to travel after school lets out, I bet all the 18th-gen members end up at this same venue?
23AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:13
There's a lot going on around New Year's, and it's tough to memorize choreography too
I think they're factoring in the burden on her quite a bit
24AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:13
So that means Yasuda, Suzuki, and Ishikawa will also hold theirs next year!
25AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:14
If Suzuki and Yasuda both do theirs, their birthdays are close together in April, so fans will probably end up split between the two
And that's during the spring tour too
26AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:14
They'll probably sing 'Yume 15' (likely a birthday-event staple song)
A video message from Wakanya (a fellow member's nickname) seems likely too
Just transfer her to Angerme already
27AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:14
Yasuda and Suzuki's birthday month is April, Ishikawa's is September
33AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:16
Meigeta's (a fellow member's nickname) birthday event was pretty rough too after moving to a bigger venue, so Yasuda and Suzuki could be in trouble
Their name recognition isn't great either
34AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:17
I guess all the 18th-gen members end up here
Wouldn't be surprised if Yasuda and Suzuki end up doing a joint one
35AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:17
Yasuda's event could end up being wild in its own way
37AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:18
A joint birthday event for Morning Musume members? Can't imagine that happening
38AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:18
They must have some kind of arrangement with the Yurakucho venue
Well, it's a relief for fans traveling in from out of town at least
40AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:20
Maybe they just couldn't book a venue, plain and simple
44AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:22
The 17th gen's first birthday events were at the place known as '362,' so this is a slight capacity bump for a first-time event
46AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:30
Nagano: Asahi Hall, both shows sold out
Hayashi: Hiratsuka Hall, all 3 rotations sold out
Nishimura: Hikousen Hall, both shows sold out
Sugihara: Love & Allure (a joking jab, not an actual venue)
47AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:32
If Mesa didn't do her birthday event now, she'd end up being the last of the 18th gen to have one
49AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:36
Her solo photo (kobetsu) sales aren't great — will the seats actually fill up?
55AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:40
Re: #49
Even Sakurai, who's fully sold out on solo photos, is always below Homamei (a fellow member's nickname) anyway
61AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:41
Re: #49
First-time events always fill up
50AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:36
Will arriving at Yurakucho at 19:11 make it in time for the 2nd show?
Even sprinting out the door the second quitting time hits, this is the best I can manage
51AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:37
Like Haru-san, there's also the pattern where solo photo sales are weak but she's actually popular in person at events
52AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:38
Since joining Morning Musume in March, Akisa has gone to every single member's birthday event
And she's even been to several events for non-Morning Musume members too
54AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:39
Jumping into the Top Oshi (TO) rankings race through point-based two-shot (cheki) sessions!
58AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:41
Re: #54
They're not even accepting applications for that
60AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:41
Re: #58
There is a proper application open, actually
64AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:43
Re: #60
No, there really isn't
62AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:41
Special treatment again, huh
65AnonymousOct 21, 2026 18:43
Re: #62
It's been 10 months already, so it's nothing special at all
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
In Hello! Project, it’s become a fan-watched tradition to see when, after joining, a new member gets a fan-club-exclusive “Birthday Event.” Sugihara’s event comes 10 months after her March 2026 debut, and opinions on the thread were split over whether that counts as early or late. There was also a flurry of posts comparing the venue size to other members’ track records, though some argue venue choice reflects year-end scheduling and agency logistics more than a straightforward popularity measure — so judging the situation by venue size alone may be premature.
