The story

The latest chapter of Hunter x Hunter, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, became a hot topic on 5ch’s Livegalileo (“anything goes” live) board. As the Kakin succession arc continues, some posters speculated the story might hit a break point in about one more chapter, while others guessed at the editorial situation behind how many chapters’ worth of manuscript are stockpiled. Meanwhile, a screenshot of a page crammed with text sparked half-joking astonishment, with some asking “is he having AI write this now?” Opinions split between those calling the developments since Tserriednich started moving “lame” and those enjoying the exchanges between Prince Benjamin and the Phantom Troupe, making for a lively thread arguing over the series’ current quality.

Wraps up in one more chapter
6AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:18
Kakin royal genetics really are a Nen gacha
Camilla pulled a good one
7AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:19
Re: #6
I wonder if they're all Specialists
Halkenburg's probably a Specialist too
9AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:20
So going to the casino means they might run into the scrub-hunting clown guy…? (fan nickname for Hisoka)
12AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:21
Re: #9
Wasn't the one at the casino Bono in disguise?
16AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:21
Re: #12
Even the author's probably forgotten that, so it's fine
19AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:22
Re: #12
It was the real one — Bono turned into the Shadow Beast (In'yu)
11AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:20
Why has Tserriednich basically become the protagonist?
75AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:46
Re: #11
Because he's the author's favorite
14AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:21
I bet he's got the manuscript drawn up to around chapter 430
18AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:22
Re: #14
426 or 427
24AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:25
When they get to the Dark Continent, let's just have Hiei and Yusuke show up and end it with "Whoa, this was the Demon World all along!" (nod to Togashi's earlier series YuYu Hakusho)
29AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:27
Re: #24
There's precedent from YuYu Hakusho, so the moment they reach the Dark Continent a tournament might just kick off and wrap things up fast
80AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:48
Re: #24
If he does it like the Demon World arc of YuYu Hakusho, it'll be over quick
25AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:26
Looking at how proactive Benjamin and Halkenburg are, the first queen's bloodline is just too good
30AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:27
Re: #25
Wasn't Tserriednich also a child of the first queen?
Mii and Halkenburg should be siblings too
27AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:26
Same as the Chrollo vs. Hisoka fight — when strong characters fight in such underhanded ways it's kind of boring
Tserriednich especially, he talks so big but the fighting is way too lame
28AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:27
Re: #27
That's because the peak of raw power was already fully explored in the Chimera Ant arc
53AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:35
Leaving influence even after death
Reviving even after being killed
Transferring your consciousness into someone else
I guess the whole concept here is Nen abilities specialized around simply refusing to die
59AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:37
Re: #53
They're all pretty sci-fi-flavored abilities
83AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:49
I don't like how petty the Troupe is being about this
Go wild and blow up the ship or something
86AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:50
Re: #83
Well, the boss has to steal the treasure, so…
89AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:51
Re: #83
That ain't like you~~~
That's so not like you, is it~~~
87AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:50
If they kill Tserriednich inside his own illusion, does Morena's group level up?
95AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:52
Re: #87
They'd see an illusion of leveling up, but they wouldn't actually level up
97AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:53
Re: #87
They do level up, but it reverts once they step outside the range
92AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:52
Anyway, what's with needing to reach "the pinnacle" just to beat Hisoka
Was there ever a reason the whole Troupe couldn't just gang up on Hisoka?
96AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:52
Re: #92
It's less a rule and more that they all wanted to fight him solo, I think
99AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:54
Re: #96
I think Shizuku and Bono dropped out to help the boss instead
Well, they could just make him fight them one after another
104AnonymousAug 31, 2026 16:57
Re: #96
The only one who absolutely insists on going solo is the boss
119AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:04
I'd assume the stockpiled manuscripts are already with the editors, so whether it runs 10+ weeks straight is really up to them
121AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:04
Re: #119
There isn't enough stocked up
123AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:04
Re: #119
There's not 10 chapters' worth stocked
130AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:11
Is everyone actually reading this because they think the current story is good?
132AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:12
Re: #130
I'm curious how far Benjamin can get before he dies
Though he'll probably die without accomplishing anything
136AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:14
Re: #130
It was fun up until Tserriednich started moving
The Tserriednich parts are boring
141AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:16
Started reading again after a long break and cracked up at this wall of text
Is this seriously a manga?
150AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:19
Re: #141
If the pages were bigger he could actually fit some art in too
157AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:23
Re: #141
Togashi's definitely having AI churn out these rough drafts, no doubt about it
158AnonymousAug 31, 2026 17:24
Re: #141
Last time this ran, the Jump-board regulars' wall-of-text parodies had me dying laughing

Background and Discussion Points

Hunter x Hunter is well known for its irregular publication schedule, largely due to author Yoshihiro Togashi’s health issues, and this thread’s interest in “how many chapters until it wraps up” and “how much manuscript is stockpiled” reflects that background. The story is currently mid-way through the Dark Continent arc and the Kakin succession arc running in parallel, with the princes’ Nen abilities and the Phantom Troupe’s movements depicted simultaneously — which regularly draws comments that the large cast makes the plot hard to follow. Opinions in the thread split over how Tserriednich, who has become something like the lead character of the succession struggle, is being handled: some said the story “was good until he started moving, then got lame,” while others voiced support for the banter between Prince Benjamin and the Phantom Troupe. The text-heavy page that became a talking point is also worth a note — it’s a form of the dense, monologue-style prose Togashi often uses, and the claim that it was AI-generated isn’t factual, just a reader’s joke.
