  • Nasukawa Tenshin: “I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks the decision was off”

After the match, Nasukawa Tenshin reportedly spoke about the difficulty of scoring, saying “there’s so much I don’t understand” and “there are plenty of moments where I go, ‘huh?’” The bout, which he lost on points, appears to be his second career loss, and the fact that he scored a knockdown in round 7 yet still lost the decision became a hot topic on 5ch. The thread split between those who called the decision fair given the scoring rules for a round with a knockdown, and those who felt it was unacceptable to score a knockdown and still lose — with the discussion spreading into talk of future opponents and weight classes.

Nasukawa Tenshin feels the difficulty of scoring firsthand: “There’s so much I don’t understand,” “I think there are plenty of moments where I go, ‘huh?’”

In boxing, a round with a knockdown is basically scored 10-8.
Against that, he just wasn't racking up points elsewhere.

When Nasukawa scored the knockdown, he turned his back to throw up his arms in a victory pose instead of checking on Inoue's condition
That meant nobody could confirm whether Inoue's younger brother was really hurt
That's what cost him the fight
In other words, he lost because of his own mistake

WBA → Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez, one of the top pound-for-pound fighters and arguably the strongest boxer active today — basically unbeatable for him
WBC → Inoue Takuma, but after two straight losses he won't get a title shot anytime soon
IBF → Jose Salas Reyes, the unbeaten champ who picked up the belt Nakatani vacated
WBO → Christian Jimenez, the champ who thrashed Yuki Takei — the one guy Nasukawa could actually beat — so also basically unbeatable for him
Nasukawa can't beat any of them

Yesterday Takuma and Tenshin were both clinching to catch a breather too

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Boxing scoring rules generally count a round with a clear knockdown as 10-8. What split the thread was which mattered more: the “fact of the knockdown” or the overall balance of the fight. If the claim in the thread is accurate — that he was already behind 2-1 by the end of round 7 — then his comeback after the knockdown simply wasn’t enough on the cards, which supports the argument that the scoring was procedurally fair. At the same time, the gut-level pushback that “scoring a knockdown and still losing doesn’t add up” remains strong, and that’s a tension that follows scored combat sports in general. Also worth noting: the thread lists the current champions of the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO as potential future opponents for a title run, but that’s just one poster’s own rundown — not an official ranking or designation.

  • “6-Member Tsubaki” vs. “7-Member Rosy”: 5ch Points Out the Talent Gap Between Two Kobushi Reject Groups

On a Hello! Project thread, a post comparing “6-Member Tsubaki” (later Tsubaki Factory) — formed from trainees who didn’t make the cut for Kobushi Factory — with the current “7-Member Rosy,” also formed from rejected trainees, went viral. While acknowledging that the industry has changed (fans can now attend handshake events with just one CD purchase), commenters pointed out that members like Yamagishi, Niinuma, and Kishimoto were already highly regarded back in their trainee days. Many argued that even though both were “leftover groups,” there was a clear difference in the members’ raw potential. Others noted that Kobushi itself later struggled too, with tour tickets eventually selling below face value, so it’s not simply a case of one group being better than the other.

    1AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:48
Yamagishi: Praised for her figure since her trainee days
Niinuma: Early favorite, pushed as a top candidate from the start
Kishimoto: The skilled singer of the group
    2AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:48
Sure, times have changed — you can get a handshake with just one CD now — but the members' potential was on a completely different level.
    3AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:50
Isn't this exactly why Rosy is struggling?
    4AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:52

    10AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:57
    Re: #4
Kobushi only looked decent because Nomura leveled up and they had a secret weapon in Reirei — Kobushi itself was the real leftovers group. Hello! Project fans openly called it the "bargain sale group" and figured the next group would be the real deal.
    5AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:53
6-Tsuba's draw at shows was even worse than Rosy's.

    6AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:54

Really? I thought early on, Taguchi and Renashi seemed like they were expected to do well.
    32AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:19
The main reason 6-Member Tsubaki never took off was that, for some reason, they were formed right in the middle of Kobushi's big promotional push.
    33AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:23
The moment you factor in Juju-chan, Tsubaki is simply in a higher league.
    34AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:24
Well, it was basically Kobushi as the main act and Tsubaki as the side act. Kobushi then self-destructed, and here we are.
    35AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:27
Like, why release such a gloomy song for your indie debut? Their opening-act slot for ℃-ute was so painful I couldn't even watch.
    36AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:28
Rosy just formed, so this is about what you'd expect. Tsubaki would be ranked below Rosy too if it weren't for "Ritokyame" (a member's nickname) joining.
    37AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:28
Up until "Hatsukoi Sunrise," they were pretty hopeless — kind of like Rosy is now.
    38AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:30
"Seishun Manmanka" and "Kedakaku" (song titles) were what got me into Tsubaki.

    53AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:59
You can tell how much effort the agency put in just by how they were treated post-debut — Tsubaki got nothing but great songs, while Rosy is drowning in duds.
    56AnonymousSep 28, 2026 22:04
    Re: #53
Though honestly, it was already bad news when their planned 2024 debut got quietly scrapped without explanation.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Hello! Project has repeatedly used the same method when forming new groups: gathering trainees who didn’t make the cut for an existing group’s lineup. Tsubaki Factory’s origins trace back to six trainees who missed out on Kobushi Factory, and the newly formed “7-Member Rosy” is said to have come about the same way. What split opinion on the thread was whether “missed the cut” can simply be equated with “lacking talent” — several posters pointed to cases where members’ reputations shot up years later, arguing that people who were simply held in reserve shouldn’t be lumped in with genuine leftovers. It’s not unusual for a group’s early reputation to diverge from how its members are judged years down the line — one former Kobushi member went on to become a core member of Juice=Juice — which shows just how hard it is to judge “potential” right after a group forms.

※This article was compiled as an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “‘6-Member Tsubaki,’ formed from Kobushi rejects, and ‘7-Member Rosy,’ also formed from rejects — the members’ potential was worlds apart.“

  • Takui Nakajima Announces Tour Truck Mini-Car Merch — 5ch Reacts: “Who’d Even Want This?”

To coincide with his October 12 concert at the Tokyo International Forum, Takui Nakajima has unveiled a new piece of merchandise: a die-cast miniature of his own tour truck. The model opens up to reveal it fully loaded with gear inside, prompting surprised reactions on 5ch’s Hello! The thread split between comparisons to the band-merch tradition of acts like B’z and Eikichi Yazawa, and pointed remarks that Nakajima actually tours the country in a real equipment van, leaving reactions mixed.

    Background and Points of Discussion

Miniature-car merchandise tied to a tour is a known tradition among artists who run large-scale tours, such as Eikichi Yazawa and B’z, and many in the thread drew comparisons to that lineage. At the same time, some pointed out that Nakajima himself doesn’t actually run a large tour truck operation — he tours the country in a van loaded with equipment — and that gap between the merch’s image and the reality fed into the surprised sense that it might be “more than he can really claim.” Tomica-format die-cast cars are a genre with strong collector appeal, meaning there’s potential demand beyond just fans, though some noted that low production runs tend to push the price up. Overall, the thread’s reactions were a mix of warm reception toward the new merch and puzzlement over the scale of it.

  • Yofu Runo Attaches Ribbon to Her Penlight to Avoid Color Clash — 5ch: “Mustard and Yellow Are Basically the Same Color”

Tsubaki Factory’s Yofu Runo asked fans to attach the “Ribbon Charm” merch — handed out at her birthday event late last year — to their penlights, and the request became a hot topic on 5ch. Her stated reason: to make it easier to tell her apart from new member Nishimura Otsuki, whose member color is close to her own. One fan who actually attached it and brought it to a show reported that the fabric’s glued-on part came loose partway through the roughly two-and-a-half-hour concert. That report kicked off a wider discussion on the thread about how often Yofu’s member color, “mustard,” overlaps with other members’ colors like “yellow” and “orange.”

The "Ribbon Charm" merch from Runo-chan's birthday event at the end of last year —
I hadn't had the chance to use it at a Tsubaki show yet, so I figured "it's dark, should be fine" and tried out the thing Runo-chan asked us to do — attaching it to a penlight — at Biyo Yoko-Ari (a Hello! Project concert at Yokohama Arena)…
Over the roughly 2.5-hour show, the fabric's glued part came loose.
Before this, there was also a case where the glue on a Stone Bijou charm (rhinestone decoration) came loose and the charm got lost.
They're more fragile than you'd expect, so be careful.

The question is why they didn't just give her the open orange slot.
    35AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:32
I mean, Itsuki-chan already has the "main" yellow — Yofu's mustard is just a derivative shade, so she should know her place.
    36AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:33
Same as with Shimoitani — they probably overlapped her color on purpose so it'd expose how unpopular she is.

    40AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:34
Honestly, I feel like they should've just given Nishimura orange or light blue.
    41AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:36
King seems like she'd suit orange or light blue equally well. But I think yellow works for her too.
    44AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:37
    Re: #41
King apparently asked Chiori for her blessing because she wants to do the "Itsu-King" bit (a pun pairing her with yellow member Itsuki), so orange's fine as is…
    43AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:37
Feels bad if orange ends up with zero members repping it.
    45AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:37
Fun fact: back when King was a trainee, her color was actually pink.
    46AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:38
Except in cases like Biyo, where it's the first member added post-debut, I feel like they generally don't reuse a color right after the member who held it leaves, even if it's technically open. In that sense Kishimoto's yellow isn't strange, but it overlaps too much with Yofu's. And if they're handing a color to Nishimura, I'd go with Niinuma's light blue over Yagi's orange, which would probably draw extra flak right now for a bunch of reasons.
    48AnonymousSep 28, 2026 20:41

    50AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:07
    Yamagishi — Light Green
Ogata — Light Orange (retired color)
    Niinuma — Light Blue
    Tanimoto — Light Purple
    Kishimoto — Yellow → Nishimura
Asakura — Light Pink → Murata
    Ono — Emerald Green
    Onoda — Peach
    Akiyama — Light Red
    Kawanishi — Purple
    Yagi — Orange
    Fukuda — Royal Blue
    Yofu — Mustard
    Ishii — White
    Doi — Bright Green

Why weren't light green or light blue used?
    51AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:10
The red from the insect unit actually suits Nishimura.

Yeah, King does kinda give off ladybug vibes.

    Background and Points of Debate

In Hello! Project, each member is assigned her own dedicated “member color,” letting fans show at a glance who they’re supporting through the color of their penlight or merch. But as the lineup grows, the pool of available colors inevitably runs short, and situations like this one — where “mustard” ends up close to both “yellow” and “orange” on multiple members — are a recurring issue across idol fandoms generally, not just Hello! Project. This time, that underlying color-overlap problem collided with a practical workaround: fans repurposing the limited-edition “Ribbon Charm” merch as a permanent penlight attachment, which exposed a separate issue — the fabric simply isn’t durable enough for that kind of use. The thread split into two camps: those who see the color overlap as a lack of consideration toward the newly added member, and those who see it as an inevitable side effect of a growing roster. Worth noting: comments about members being “unpopular” are unsubstantiated fan impressions, not verified facts, and shouldn’t be taken at face value.

※This article is compiled as an excerpt/summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “[Good News] Yofu Runo: “I put out ribbon merch at my birthday event, so please attach it to your penlights — a member with a similar color (Nishimura Otsuki) joined, so it’s to help tell us apart”.”

  • Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City Was Built on a Former Prison — 5ch Buzzes Over the ‘Coincidence’ of the Number 60

A thread on 5ch’s Hello! Project board titled “Turns out Ikebukuro Sunshine used to be a prison” set off a wave of discussion about how Sunshine City was built on the former site of Sugamo Prison, where war criminals were held and executed after World War II. Posters were struck by the observation that the “60” in the building’s name, “Sunshine 60,” matches the number of people executed there. Alongside that, the thread filled up with nostalgic memories of Ikebukuro landmarks like Animate and Manga no Mori, a string of infamous local incidents, and ghost-story-style local rumors, blending the area’s history with people’s personal memories.

When I was in middle school, a friend took me to Animate in Ikebukuro for the first time. Manga no Mori (now defunct) was there too. Manga specialty shops were still rare back then, and Ai Iijima did the commercials for it. There was also a pretty high-level girls' school nearby. For a middle schooler, Sunshine City felt like a dreamland — such a fun place to hang out.

The bad vibe is probably because it's the gateway from northern Kanto into Tokyo, so there are a lot of yankees (delinquents) and hangure (quasi-gang members) around.
    55AnonymousSep 28, 2026 21:00
So including Class A, B, and C war criminals, 60 people were executed there.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Sugamo Prison was a facility seized by GHQ after World War II, where death sentences were carried out on war criminals, including the seven Class-A war criminals such as Hideki Tojo. Sunshine City, which opened in 1978, was built on the site of the former prison. The thread’s claim that “the 60 in Sunshine 60 matches the number of executions” is an intriguing numerical coincidence between the building’s name and the execution count, but it isn’t officially confirmed as the reasoning behind the name — it’s best enjoyed as urban-legend-style lore rather than fact. Meanwhile, many of the incidents mentioned, such as those near the Pokémon Center and the stabbing spree in front of Tokyu Hands, were indeed real, reported cases, but claims that incidents happen every year in specific spots, along with the ghost sightings, remain personal anecdotes and hearsay rather than confirmed facts, so that distinction is worth keeping in mind.

  • Zoro Awakens Conqueror’s Haki — 5ch Reacts: “It’s a Conqueror’s Haki Bargain Sale”

In the latest chapter of Weekly Shonen Jump’s ONE PIECE, Roronoa Zoro awakens Conqueror’s Haki (Haoshoku Haki), and reactions poured into a thread on 5ch (Nandemo Jikkyo G board). With Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji now all wielding Conqueror’s Haki, some posters got hyped, saying “he’s basically the Pirate King already,” while others pointed to the power’s growing inflation, calling it a “bargain sale” and saying it “feels like a dying mobile game.” The thread also drew debate over the differences between Conqueror’s, Armament, and Observation Haki, and over the gender imbalance among characters who possess it.

Oda: "I went and made the same mistake I did with Crocodine again… tried to keep it simple this time with just three types, but yeah, that didn't work out either, lol"

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

In the ONE PIECE story, Conqueror’s Haki (Haoshoku Haki) has long been portrayed as an exceedingly rare power — unlike Armament or Observation Haki, it can’t be trained into existence and only manifests in those born with the innate talent for it. Early in the story it was a special power wielded by only a handful of characters, like Luffy and Shanks, but as the series has progressed, more and more characters have gained it, and with Zoro’s awakening this time, the three core members — Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji — now all possess Conqueror’s Haki. This is exactly where opinion split in the thread: some argued it “only makes sense for the main crew to all have it,” while others grew cooler on the trend, saying it’s “been inflated by handing it out too easily.” Points the story itself hasn’t clarified — like how Conqueror’s Haki compares in strength to Armament Haki, and the fact that almost no female characters possess it — also became subjects of speculation.

  • Which J-pop Singers Don’t Use Vibrato? 5channers Say ‘Aimyon’

A thread on 5ch’s music board asking users to name “J-pop singers who don’t use much vibrato” quickly filled up with names spanning generations and genres — Aimyon, Yorushika, ikura, Sakanaction’s Ichiro Yamaguchi, SEKAI NO OWARI’s Fukase, RADWIMPS, BUMP OF CHICKEN, Official HIGE DANdism, and Spitz, among others. The discussion went beyond a simple list, branching into why singers who avoid vibrato tend to be well-liked, whether “kobushi” (a melisma-like vocal flourish common in Japanese singing) counts as a form of vibrato, and how aging affects the voice — turning a thread about personal taste into one about vocal technique.

Spitz does use it, you know

    Background and Key Points

Vibrato is a vocal technique involving a fine, rapid wavering of pitch, long prized as an ornamental flourish in enka and opera. Since the 1990s, however, rock acts and singer-songwriters have increasingly favored a more restrained style that deliberately avoids it. The thread brought together names from recent artists like Aimyon and Yorushika alongside figures from earlier generations, such as the Shibuya-kei scene and Elephant Kashimashi’s Hiroji Miyamoto, suggesting that non-vibrato singers turn up across genres and eras. At the same time, posters disagreed on whether “kobushi” should count as a type of vibrato, and some pointed out that aging vocal cords can weaken and start producing an unintentional, constant vibrato. It’s worth noting that how deliberately any given artist avoids vibrato is a matter of listener impression rather than something the artists themselves have confirmed, so it shouldn’t be read as settled fact.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Non-vibrato: J-pop singers who don’t use much vibrato.”

  • One Piece’s Latest Chapter Sparks Debate: The Right Hand He Cut Off… Rolls Away as a Left Hand

In the latest chapter of “One Piece,” currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, Zoro appears to slice off an enemy’s right hand — but in the very next panel, the severed hand lying on the ground is drawn as a left hand. Social media users spotted the discrepancy, and it quickly became a hot topic on 5ch as well. Thread opinions were split over whether it was a simple drawing error or an intentional plot hint, though the prevailing view leaned toward “no defending this,” backed by images showing the enemy’s hands intact and matched up just a few chapters earlier. Still, some posters shrugged it off, noting it would likely just get fixed in the collected volume.

Turns out both hands were left hands all along

    Background and Discussion Points

One Piece currently runs on a biweekly publication schedule, with Eiichiro Oda handling most of the artwork while assistants and editors check panel-to-panel consistency. This time, the topic was a panel showing the enemy’s severed hand lying on the ground as a left hand, immediately after a scene depicting Zoro cutting off the enemy’s right hand. Thread posters were split — some argued “a slip like this at this point is unusual,” while others floated the idea that it might be foreshadowing — but images showing the enemy’s hands intact and matched up just a few chapters earlier suggest it’s more likely a simple drawing error. As commenters noted with examples from other long-running series like Dragon Ball, this kind of slip isn’t unusual for weekly or biweekly manga, and is typically corrected when the chapters are compiled into a collected volume. What often trips readers up is the assumption that a famous creator wouldn’t make mistakes — a premise that makes minor art inconsistencies like this one especially prone to going viral as a talking point.

  • DECA!BEAT Named Insulation Navigators for Environment Ministry’s ‘Deco-Katsu’ Campaign, Appear at Press Event

DECA!BEAT — the cross-group Hello! Project unit made up of Kirara Yonemura (OCHA NORMA), Hisaki Ebata (Juice=Juice), Runo Yokaze (Tsubaki Factory), and Akoto Yumiketa (Morning Musume ’26) — appeared at the Ministry of the Environment’s “Deco-katsu 2nd Stage” press event in Tokyo and was named “Insulation Navigator.” Under the new concept “Make Decarbonization Easier: Raku-Deco-katsu,” aimed at achieving net-zero by 2050, the event unveiled initiatives in the clothing and housing (insulation) sectors. On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, discussion centered on why only 4 of the unit’s 7 members were chosen, mentions of the left-out members Okamura, Goto, and Uemura, and the unit’s connection to “Eco Moni.,” which previously handled Environment Ministry projects.

Kirara Yonemura (OCHA NORMA), Hisaki Ebata (Juice=Juice), Runo Yokaze (Tsubaki Factory), and Akoto Yumiketa (Morning Musume ’26) appeared on the 28th at the Ministry of the Environment’s “Deco-katsu 2nd Stage” press event held in Tokyo.

The Ministry of the Environment is updating “Deco-katsu” — its campaign toward achieving net-zero by 2050 — to a “2nd Stage,” setting a new concept phrase: “Make Decarbonization Easier: ‘Raku-Deco-katsu.’”

At the event, the ministry unveiled an overview of the new concept phrase along with concrete initiatives in the priority areas of “clothing” and “housing (insulation).”

    Background and Talking Points

“Deco-katsu” (short for “decarbonization lifestyle”) is a national decarbonization campaign the Ministry of the Environment has run since 2023, and this isn’t the first time it has brought in celebrities as “navigators.” “Eco Moni.,” mentioned in the thread, was an earlier unit that handled Environment Ministry messaging, so this fits an ongoing pattern of the government using talent to get its message across. What’s distinctive this time is that the unit mixes one member each from four groups — Morning Musume ’26, Juice=Juice, Tsubaki Factory, and OCHA NORMA — and since only 4 of the unit’s 7 members were chosen, speculation about the selection criteria became the thread’s main topic. That said, the official announcement never explained the reasoning behind the lineup: while the focus on “clothing” and “housing (insulation)” and the 2050 net-zero target are confirmed facts from official sources, any read on who was picked and who wasn’t remains pure fan speculation.

    (´・ω・`)Cut it out

    Background and Discussion Points

The sensation described in the thread — “my head hurts, maybe because of the air pressure” — is medically known as weather-related illness (kiatsu-tsū, or “barometric headache”), a phenomenon in which changes in air pressure are thought to stimulate the inner ear, throwing the autonomic nervous system out of balance and triggering headaches and fatigue. That said, figures like “30 days of low pressure straight in Tokyo” are exaggerations based on posters’ personal impressions, not official Japan Meteorological Agency data, and should be read with that caveat. “Sulking Nap Club” is also the informal name for a recurring chat thread on News VIP that uses emoticon characters; it isn’t tied to any particular incident or news story, but exists mainly for posters to narrate and share everyday small talk about weather and daily life as it happens. The way topics like unrealized gains on semiconductor stocks, dentist visits, and laundry are interspersed reflects the casual, live-narration feel typical of this kind of thread.
