  • “The Blue Sky I Wanted to See” Idol Group: Anya Nishimori & Yuria Miyakoshi Announce Graduation — 5ch: “Felt Doomed From the Start”

“The Blue Sky I Wanted to See” is an idol group formed in June 2023 that drew attention for being billed as Nogizaka46’s “official rival.” Anya Nishimori and Yuria Miyakoshi, members since the group’s founding, have announced they will graduate from the group at the end of January 2027. According to the official website, the decision came at the members’ own request, with Nishimori commenting, “I came to feel that I wanted to pursue a different path.” On 5ch, discussion centered less on the graduation itself than on the group’s struggling popularity, the fact that collaborations with Nogizaka have barely happened, and suspicions about the management given the overlapping hiatuses of other members.

Anya Nishimori and Yuria Miyakoshi of “The Blue Sky I Wanted to See” will graduate from the group at the end of January 2027.

Nishimori and Miyakoshi have been active members of the group (nicknamed “Bokusei”) since June 2023. According to the official website’s announcement, the members themselves requested the graduation, and after repeated discussions, this conclusion was reached.

Nishimori explained the circumstances behind her graduation: “After thinking many times about what comes next in my life while doing this work, I came to feel that I wanted to pursue a different path.” She added, “For the time I have left, I’ll do my best to give back even a little of my gratitude, so I hope you’ll watch over me until the very end.”

If there's no chance of a comeback left, they should just disband cleanly.
Dragging it out like this is exactly why the members can't bring themselves to give up.
Management needs to make the call.

Nogizaka also failed from the start, though.
I heard the Nogizaka era from their debut up through "Kimi no Na wa Kibou" is considered a "dark history" — never performed live, and most fans don't even know about it.

Apparently if you can name Nogizaka's debut song, "Guruguru Curtain," fans will respect you for it.

    Background and Talking Points

“The Blue Sky I Wanted to See” formed in June 2023 and debuted billed as Nogizaka46’s “official rival,” but the group belongs to a different talent agency than Nogizaka, and actual joint appearances or collaborations have barely materialized. On the thread, comments pointing out this gap — being “completely ignored by Nogizaka” — stood out. Beyond this graduation announcement, posters also noted that Ai Kinoshita is on hiatus to focus on her studies and Yua Kudo is on hiatus due to poor health, meaning the overlapping departures and hiatuses of core members over the past few months became a bigger talking point than the graduation itself. Management’s announcement was limited to saying the decision came “at the members’ own request,” with no concrete explanation of treatment or future plans for the group. Many posts speculated about transfers to other Sakamichi-affiliated or underground idol groups, but these are all baseless guesses, and any post-graduation plans will have to wait for an announcement from the members themselves.

  • What Earbuds Do You Swear By? 5ch Weighs In With Everything From Chinese Budget Brands to Anker to High-End Gear

A thread titled “What earbuds do you NanG folks use?” popped up on the Nandemo Jikkyou board (a sports/variety discussion board on 5ch, whose regulars call themselves “NanG”), and users piled in one after another with their personal favorites. The responses ranged wildly in price and philosophy — from 60,000-yen-class Chinese wired earbuds to Sony’s WF-1000XM6, EarFun, Anker, and Noble’s multi-driver models — highlighting the divide between wired and wireless loyalists. As the thread went on, attention shifted to the relationship between price and sound quality, specifically how much a 10x price gap actually buys you, with many agreeing you can hear a difference up into the tens of thousands of yen, but beyond 100,000 yen it’s mostly down to personal taste.

I'm confident I could tell apart the ones I actually own.
Though I don't own anything that fancy

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

In recent years, Chinese and other newer manufacturers like EarFun and Noble have been gaining ground in the earbuds market thanks to their strong price-to-performance ratio, and the fact that they get mentioned in the same breath as Sony’s flagship models reflects that trend. Where opinions in the thread diverged was on how much a price difference actually translates into sound quality: many felt a noticeable difference in the range from a few thousand to a few tens of thousands of yen, but the prevailing view was that above 100,000 yen, it’s less about universal performance gaps and more a hobbyist’s pursuit of the unique character only that specific model can offer. Anker came up as an example of bass-heavy tuning that splits opinion, suggesting it’s not a one-size-fits-all choice. The thread also raised the question of whether people could actually tell the difference in a blind test, hinting at the tension between genuine performance gains and the “self-satisfaction” that’s part and parcel of the audio hobby.

  • Heavy Rain Floods Kanto: JR Cuts Train Service 20-30%—5ch Says ‘Just Power Through and Get to Work’

Heavy rain is forecast across the Kanto region through September 7, and JR East has announced it will cut train frequency by 20-30% on major lines including the Yamanote Line, Chuo Line Rapid, Sobu Line Rapid, and Chuo-Sobu Local Line. In Tokyo’s Kita Ward, Level 4 evacuation instructions were issued to roughly 5,200 residents in the landslide hazard zones of Oji and Akabane, and Tokyo Metro also warned of possible delays and service suspensions. Some municipalities in Kanagawa, Saitama, and Tochigi decided to close elementary and junior high schools for the day. The thread saw frustration—”with trains cut back, it’s bound to be packed, so how are we supposed to get to work?”—clash with hardline arguments like “if you’re a working adult, just power through and go to work,” along with a stream of complaints about workplaces that don’t allow remote work or paid leave.

Hasn't flooded since they built the underground palace (the massive underground flood-control reservoir)

Background and Key Points of This Topic

JR East’s practice of preemptively cutting train service (a “planned reduction in service”) to match heavy rain forecasts is an approach that has spread in recent years, born from lessons learned when 2019’s Typhoon No. 15 caused chaos as commuters swarmed stations. This latest cut is an extension of that same policy. Kita Ward’s “Warning Level 4 Evacuation Instructions” is a category that was consolidated after a 2021 revision of the Basic Act on Disaster Management abolished the old “evacuation advisory” designation; legally, it amounts to a strong call to “evacuate promptly.” Opinions in the thread were split over whether to push through and go to work or stay home, reflecting a structural problem: many workplaces still don’t genuinely allow remote work or paid leave even during disasters. It should also be noted that, as of the time of posting, no actual flooding or water damage had occurred—the evacuation instructions and service-suspension information are “advance warnings based on forecasts,” not confirmed reports of damage.

  • Hiroyuki Ariyoshi testifies to Yoshimoto comedians’ rough treatment — Dacho Club had his back, ‘I was prepared for anything’

On the September 6 broadcast of the radio program “SUNDAY NIGHT DREAMER,” Hiroyuki Ariyoshi spoke about the “roughness” he experienced from comedians affiliated with Yoshimoto Kogyo back in his early days. He said that having Dacho Club around was what let him stand up to the massive agency Yoshimoto, looking back and saying he’d “steeled himself” for it at the time. On 5channel’s “Geisupo+” (Entertainment/Sports News+) board, the remark sparked a lively thread covering how Ariyoshi’s poison-tongued persona took shape, opinions for and against Yoshimoto’s near-total dominance of the industry, and anecdotes about individual comedians like Dacho Club and Bakarhythm.

Talent Hiroyuki Ariyoshi appeared on the JFN radio program “SUNDAY NIGHT DREAMER” on the 6th, reminiscing about his younger days standing up to the “giant agency” Yoshimoto Kogyo.

Ariyoshi opened with, “I used to watch ‘Ametalk,’ you know — the one about ‘Tokyo Yoshimoto.’ It was interesting.”

The Yoshimoto comedian laughed it off awkwardly.

    54AnonymousSep 6, 2026 22:18
    Re: #33
But that's because the ball was already being passed around exclusively among them first.

Chidori and Kamaitachi are strong as well, but nothing has the overwhelming dominance Downtown and Nainai had in the 2000s, so Yoshimoto might just keep getting pushed back.

Ariyoshi seems like he's just saying whatever comes to mind, but he's actually sorting out what's okay to say and what isn't in an instant.
Take the nicknames he gave the SMAP members, for example:
Kimutaku → "Getsuku Baka" ("baka"/idiot here can also read positively, like in "fishing idiot" — it's not a pure insult)
Nakai → "Fake SMAP" (sounds like it's putting Nakai down, but it actually praises SMAP while also elevating Nakai as their leader)
Making these razor's-edge calls in a split second is what makes Ariyoshi, Ariyoshi.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Hiroyuki Ariyoshi has a career arc that includes a slump after his duo broke up, followed by a comeback built on his poison-tongued persona. In the thread, the balance of power for comedians from agencies other than Yoshimoto trying to make it in Tokyo’s comedy world became a central topic. Some posts pointed to the gap between mid-sized agencies like Ohta Production and Horipro and Yoshimoto, which has overwhelming scale in terms of how many comedians it represents, with the shared view that an agency’s size affects how freely a comedian can speak their mind. Meanwhile, opinions split on Ariyoshi’s poison-tongued style itself — some admired his knack for nicknames, while others said they couldn’t really feel what was funny about it at the time. The thread also branched into lively comparisons of individual comedians’ anecdotes tangential to the main topic — stories about Dacho Club and Ken Shimura, Bakarhythm’s career history — turning into more of a freewheeling chat that never converged on a single conclusion.

  • Emiko Uenuma Slams TV Industry: “They Work Popular Stars to the Bone” — On Sandwichman Date’s Health Leave

Emiko Uenuma brought up Sandwichman’s Mikio Date (51), who has been hospitalized and gone on leave after suffering a cerebral infarction, on the September 6 broadcast of “Uenuma & Takada no Kugizuke!” She speculated that Date’s good nature — despite carrying 14 regular TV programs as one of the industry’s most in-demand stars — may have made it hard for him to turn work down, and criticized the way the TV industry uses its talent, saying, “They’ll work the popular ones to the bone, won’t they.” On 5channel, the remark sparked a split reaction: some agreed, pointing to an industry structure that leans on the same popular names over and over, while many others were skeptical of blaming the industry, arguing his health problems stem from his own lifestyle.

Guess that means she just wasn't popular enough.
    4AnonymousSep 6, 2026 20:39
Then why doesn't she book a bunch of unpopular talent on her own show and radio program?
    6AnonymousSep 6, 2026 20:40
Isn't getting worked to the bone on TV basically the definition of being popular?
This is turning into some kind of philosophical debate.
    8AnonymousSep 6, 2026 20:41
Weak show concepts have no choice but to lean on big-name talent.
    9AnonymousSep 6, 2026 20:41
Well, even being popular doesn't erase the anxiety.
His sketches are great, but he probably knows his unscripted studio banter ("hiraba") isn't quite on that level,
so naturally he feels he has to keep grinding while the demand is there — that's just common sense.
The problem is he kept pushing that hard long enough to actually wreck his body.
    11AnonymousSep 6, 2026 20:43

Doing what Chidori does — just sitting in the studio watching someone else's segment and tossing in commentary — is the easy gig.
A lot of shows Chidori appears on don't actually need Chidori.
These days there are tons of wasteful studio shoots where a bunch of people just sit there watching a VTR clip.
Like Ikezaki sitting in the studio watching a video of someone's pet cat, and viewers are literally just watching Ikezaki watch a video — some of these shows clearly don't need Ikezaki, or even a studio, at all.
    17AnonymousSep 6, 2026 20:50
    Re: #12
And there's always a reaction cutaway shot ("wipe") too.

Honestly it's a waste of talent, every one of his regular shows.

Showa-era TV featured a much wider pool of performers than today, with no lopsided casting.
Now it's the same people over and over.

Back then dramas ran for six months, and when a new series started up, it wouldn't reuse the same actors.
Now it's always the same actors, which is exactly why it's boring.

If you go around eating everything shouting "zero calories, zero calories," you can't really complain when people call this karma.

    Background and points of debate

Sandwichman’s Mikio Date is a hugely in-demand star said to carry “14 regular programs,” and news of his hospitalization and leave of absence due to a cerebral infarction only broke in early September. Emiko Uenuma’s remarks point to the broader structure of Japan’s TV industry, where work keeps piling onto a handful of popular talents. Opinions on the thread split sharply between those who blame how the industry uses its stars and those who chalk it up to Date’s own lifestyle habits. Some also pointed out that Date and fellow Sandwichman member Takeshi Tomizawa’s agency, Grape Company, partly runs on a “bataa” system (a practice where booking a popular talent comes bundled with also hiring lesser-known talent from the same agency) — meaning Date’s personal workload is tied up with the agency’s overall business in a way the article alone doesn’t make clear. Others noted that Showa-era TV rotated through a much wider range of performers, feeding a view in some corners that always relying on “the same familiar faces” is part of what’s made television less interesting.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5channel (Geinou/Sports News+) thread “Emiko Uenuma criticizes TV industry over Sandwichman Date’s cerebral infarction: “They’ll work the popular ones to the bone” / “I do wonder about that”.”

Actor Kentaro Sakaguchi announced on his own paid fan club site that he has married a non-celebrity woman he had been dating. His talent agency also confirmed the marriage to Sports Hochi. On the thread, reactions focused less on the marriage itself and more on the fact that news outlets ran headlines with a typo — writing “species agency” (種族事務所) instead of “talent agency” (所属事務所) — and left it that way. Replies piled up joking about whether it was an agency for goblins and orcs, or a romance that crossed the boundaries between species. The typo was eventually corrected to “talent agency,” but since the thread starter had created the thread with the typo still in place, the conversation stayed out of sync for a while.

Re: #1 Correction to the thread title:

Kentaro Sakaguchi marries non-celebrity woman — surprise report on fan club site, talent agency also confirms.

    Background and Talking Points

The typo here looks like a simple conversion/proofreading slip in the source article’s headline, which should have read “talent agency” (所属事務所) but came out as “species agency” (種族事務所) instead. Since the error was still live when the thread was created, most replies ended up fixated on the phrase “species agency” rather than the marriage news itself. A parallel thread on the same story, started by a different poster using the correct “talent agency” wording, also exists — a typical case on 5ch of headline wording varying depending on who reposts the wire story. The easy point to miss is that this “species” business isn’t a fantasy setting or a quirky agency nickname — it’s just a typo, and even within the thread the correction only gets shared partway through. Details about the woman he married aren’t discussed in the thread; no information beyond “a non-celebrity woman” has come out.

  • Sakana-kun, Matsuko, Big Daddy… The Famous Faces Who Got Treated Like TV Talents for a Hot Minute

A thread on the Hello! Project board of 5channel heated up around the question: “Who are the celebrities who aren’t actually professional talents, but got treated like TV personalities for just a brief stretch?” Names came up across every category — from still-active faces like Sakana-kun, Matsuko Deluxe, and Animal Hamaguchi, to one-hit-wonder types like war photographers, shogi commentators, and the “Balloon Uncle.” What they all have in common is that an expert in their own field got temporarily pushed into the living-room spotlight by some TV segment — names like ramen critic Minoru Sano, mountaineer Ken Noguchi, and horse-racing pundit Keijiro Okawa were also named.

    Background and Talking Points

Japanese TV has a long tradition of bringing people who made a name for themselves in a specific field into the “cultural figure” slot on variety shows and talk programs, temporarily turning them into talent-like celebrities. Many of the names raised in this 5ch thread are specialists in areas like cooking, mountaineering, shogi, horse racing, and photography, who became familiar faces to the general public thanks to that TV exposure. On the other hand, some of the names mentioned — like Matsuko Deluxe and Sakana-kun — were originally meant to be temporary guests but ended up sticking around as long-term talents, so the thread is split on whether they really count as “brief.” Many of the names are unfamiliar to younger viewers, highlighting just how wide the generational gap in name recognition really is.

※This article is composed as excerpts and a summary from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Celebrities who weren’t actually professional talents but got pushed as talents for a brief moment.”

  • After Akihabara and Ikebukuro, Shibuya Joins the “Otaku Town” Club — 5ch: “Otaku Culture Has Become the Uniqlo of Hobbies”

Akihabara was once known as a hub for PCs and home electronics, while Shibuya was branded the “town for young people” — a place with little connection to otaku. There’s even a well-known story from 2006 in which a voice actor fan meetup had to hastily change its venue away from Shibuya. This time, though, an ad for “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” was reportedly put up at Shibuya’s famous Scramble Crossing, and nearby shops even hosted voice actor handshake events. On 5ch, this sparked surprised reactions that Shibuya has now joined Akihabara and Ikebukuro as an “otaku town.” Discussion ranged widely — from historical theories on how Akihabara became an otaku mecca in the first place, to the stark contrast with the 2000s when Comiket attendees were mocked behind their backs as “gross” (kinmo-☆), to claims that otaku culture has gone so mainstream it’s been “Uniqlo-ified.”

Twenty years ago, in 2006, a “1,000-yen off-line meetup” was held, hosted by voice actress Yurika Ochiai (known for roles like Konomi Yuzuhara in the bishoujo game “To Heart2,” now going by Yurika Tomori/Yurina Hase), and I, a fan, attended. Despite the shockingly low 1,000-yen entry fee, attendees got to enjoy Ochiai’s home cooking and even receive an autograph — a truly dreamlike experience.

This meetup has become something of a legend online, but Ochiai had originally planned to hold it in Shibuya. Just before the event, though, one prospective attendee said, “Shibuya is the town for young people — for Akiba-type otaku like me, stepping into Shibuya’s territory feels impossible,” and the venue was changed as a result.

Borrowing that attendee’s words, in the 2000s Shibuya seems to have clearly been the town of “young people” (the popular, non-otaku crowd), while Akihabara, by contrast, was the town of otaku.

Why did it turn into this weird otaku town?

The shift toward "real-life" experiences is kind of right on the money — you can't get the maid cafe experience online.

Then again, Vtubers ended up filling that role instead, and even that seems to be fading now.

Background and key points of this discussion

Akihabara’s identity as an otaku town took root through the 2000s, when the spread of home PCs became intertwined with adult-game culture, and offshoots like maid cafes shaped the neighborhood’s image from there. In recent years, though, a surge in inbound tourism has pushed the ratio of tourists so high that, from locals’ perspective, the “otaku town” character is arguably fading. Opinions in the thread split between those who see otaku culture going mainstream as a positive, and those who view it more critically as having been thoroughly consumed and flattened into generic content by marketing — the “Uniqlo-ification” argument. It’s also worth noting that the original article only reports on ads and shop promotions in one part of Shibuya; it doesn’t mean the whole of Shibuya has become a permanent otaku commercial district the way Akihabara has.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (News Speed+) thread “[Culture] Akihabara, Ikebukuro, and now the new “otaku town” Shibuya — “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” at the Scramble Crossing, voice actor handshake events at shops.”

Background and Key Points on This Topic

“Can I Follow You Home?” is a long-running TV Tokyo street-interview show whose whole appeal is approaching people late at night and following them all the way back to their homes. This time, a fan of Juice=Juice became the subject, and reactions poured in on the Hello! Project board almost the moment the segment aired. Posters moved fast to identify whose fan the subject was, and some were surprised that not just the member’s name but the group name itself seemed to register with ordinary people. At the same time, some suspected the appearance had been arranged in advance — a suspicion informed by past claims that the show has occasionally handpicked fans of celebrities or otherwise buzzworthy figures for its segments. The fact that the aired footage felt short only fed that suspicion further. Neither the show’s producers nor those involved have commented on the actual intent behind the segment, so the truth of the matter remains unconfirmed.

Wait, they'd already played 5 matches?
    Had no idea.
    4AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:12
Chiba, the gatekeeper of J2 —

looks like we'll get to watch them there again next season.
    7AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:12
The 'Tax League' isn't getting any buzz at all lol (a mocking nickname for J.League, since stadiums are largely funded by taxpayer money)
    86AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:39
    Re: #7
    Yeah exactly.
Even when there's a match on a Wednesday, TV only pushes baseball and ignores it completely.
Pathetic TV coverage that just endlessly rehashes garbage non-news like "Ohtani isn't in the starting lineup."
    9AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:12
    JEF Chiba actually winning…
Guess that means it'll rain tomorrow, huh
…nah, that joke's way too real to make right now

It's already pouring, so say it all you want
    11AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:13
Mito Hollyhock beating Kashima and steadily racking up points — maybe that lit a fire under Chiba too, like they couldn't afford to keep losing.
    12AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:14
Gamba's Myojin has clearly had nothing but bad vibes around him.
Though it's kind of funny how Gamba cycles back to a terrible manager the second things start looking up.
    15AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:16
How generous of Gamba, handing out points to every promoted team
    19AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:17
Did they really need to spell it out in number of days?
Also wait, did they lose every single match in the no-relegation transition league?
    36AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:20
    Re: #19
That six-month transition-format league doesn't count as an official J1 season
    20AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:17
How many years has it even been since Chiba won in J1, lol
    Anyway, congrats
    21AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:17
Apparently Nagoya only had 2 points after 6 matchdays last year, so Chiba should be fine, right?

It became "JEF United Ichihara Chiba," remember?

    Ichihara is VONDS now
Chiba is JR East Furukawa United
They ended up splitting into separate territories

Soga's getting hit by disaster-level heavy rain again, so yeah, that's rough lol (Soga = the district where the stadium sits)

    Re: #58
But you've never even been to a baseball stadium, have you?
    81AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:37
    Re: #58
Classic reaction from a "yakibuta" (5ch slang mocking obsessive baseball fans) getting worked up over surface-level numbers — kinda charming, honestly
    60AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:30
With the rain, planned train suspensions have already started in Chiba — can the fans even get home?
    73AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:34
    Re: #60
    Wonder what they'll do.
Aren't the trains suspended until tomorrow morning?
    65AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:32
Apparently the dog on JEF's emblem is a Chihuahua

No way it's some foreign breed.
Being serious for a sec, it's probably a Shiba Inu or an Akita Inu

    Re: #65
It's an Akita Inu — a fierce dog, that one
    67AnonymousSep 6, 2026 21:32
Wait, is Gamba actually in trouble?

On the flanks, only Eli Adams was actually pulling his weight.
They should've held onto Juan Alano

Background and Key Points of This Story

JEF United Chiba is remembered as a club that fought near the top of the table in the early 2000s under manager Ivica Osim, but was relegated from J1 at the end of the 2009 season and has spent most of the years since stuck in J2. The “6,132 days” making headlines now refers to the number of days since that very win late in the 2009 season — meaning, ironically, their last J1 victory came in the same season they were relegated. The thread also buzzed about Chiba’s rough start this season, five straight losses right after promotion, and opinions split on whether it was even necessary to phrase the gap in days (“did they really need to say it in days?”). Also worth noting: heavy rain caused planned train suspensions across Chiba Prefecture on the day of the match, which likely contributed to the low attendance — a detail that doesn’t fully come through from the comments alone.

*This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Geinou/Sports News+) thread “[Soccer] JEF Chiba wins in J1 for the first time in 6,132 days (17 years)! Snaps season-opening losing streak at 5 — Yamura opens the scoring, Tsukui adds another“.
