  • 78 Sickened by Azabu-Juban Festival Stall Ramen — 5ch: ‘This Beats the Diarrhea Muffin Incident’

Seventy-eight people who ate chilled crab ramen from a food stall at the “Azabu-Juban Summer Festival” in Tokyo’s Minato Ward came down with diarrhea and vomiting, and three were hospitalized. Minato Ward’s official announcement attributes the food poisoning to Salmonella, but stool tests on those affected reportedly also turned up norovirus, diarrheagenic E. coli, and Plesiomonas. On 5ch, discussion centered on the fact that the stall’s operator is a former MMA fighter, plus claims that the container apparently used to prepare the soup looked a lot like a bucket that had been used to keep live eels swimming just before the festival — fueling wild speculation about the real cause.

A shocking new fact has come to light in the case of the “Azabu-Juban Summer Festival,” held in Tokyo’s Minato Ward in August, where 78 people who ate a stall’s “chilled crab ramen” reported symptoms including diarrhea and vomiting, with three hospitalized.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Minato Ward announced that Salmonella had been detected in stool samples from 31 of those affected and two staff members, framing it simply as “Salmonella food poisoning” — but in reality, far nastier pathogens had turned up too.

Reading the press release on Minato Ward’s official website is shocking: stool samples from those affected tested positive not only for Salmonella, but also norovirus, diarrheagenic E. coli, and Plesiomonas.

The white container used to prep the chilled ramen soup (probably one of those plastic buckets from a home center?) looks a lot like the container in a post from late July, right before the festival, showing live eels swimming in it…

This is purely a thought-experiment-level guess, but here's the hypothesis: even if the bucket was scrubbed clean with detergent after holding raw eel, Salmonella could still linger in the fine scratches on the plastic surface. Then, once nutrient-rich ingredients went in and sat unheated, the bacteria could have multiplied explosively inside the container…

This theory seems on the money. Eels probably aren't kept in especially clean water while alive, so if soup went into that same bucket afterward, yeah, that's genuinely bad. Why not just use a pot?

So they let eels swim in a pail can, then poured soy milk into it to make soup lol. No wonder it caused food poisoning lol

A pail can isn't exactly meant for holding food ingredients in the first place.

Background and key points of this story

Minato Ward and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government have officially described this as “food poisoning caused by Salmonella,” but the original article notes that norovirus, diarrheagenic E. coli, and Plesiomonas were also detected in the stool of those affected — meaning this can’t simply be reduced to poisoning by a single pathogen. It’s worth noting that the theory that circulated widely on the thread — that the container used to prepare the soup resembled a bucket that had held live eels just before the festival — is speculation based on a post on X (formerly Twitter), and has not been confirmed as the cause by Minato Ward or the stall itself. Because the stall’s owner is a former MMA fighter, he drew personal attention apart from questions of cooking skill or hygiene management, sparking a mix of defense and criticism. Some voices also raised suspicions of collusion with local government, though no evidence for this was presented.

  • Isn’t America’s Demand Also “Interference”? Online Users Mock Japan’s New Foreign Interference Prevention Law

Based on the coalition agreement signed by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Japan Innovation Party on October 20, 2025, a law establishing a “National Intelligence Council” to guard against foreign interference passed during the recent special Diet session. The next focus is said to be enacting an anti-espionage law, establishing a Foreign Intelligence Agency (tentative name), and introducing criminal penalties for “improper” interference by foreign powers. On 5ch, threads reacting to this news mostly had China and North Korea in mind when it comes to this interference-prevention framework, but posters repeatedly pointed out the irony and contradiction that America’s massive investment demands and the base issue are never labeled “interference in domestic affairs.” Voices insisting that special treatment is only natural since the US is an ally clashed with those who see it as effectively a relationship of subordination, and the debate spilled over into the broader question of what the Japan-US security alliance really is.

(Excerpt) ◆”This cannot work without the public’s understanding and trust”

(Excerpt) The coalition agreement signed by the LDP and Japan Innovation Party on October 20 of last year explicitly states that the parties “will discuss comprehensive intelligence reform and carry out the agreed-upon measures.” Among these, the law establishing the “National Intelligence Council,” meant to serve as the command center for policy, passed during the recent special Diet session. The next focus will be enacting anti-espionage legislation and setting up a “Foreign Intelligence Agency (tentative name)” to formally authorize full-scale intelligence operations both at home and abroad.

Suneo, playing tough guy like Gian and running wild in "Asia Class 1-1," got punched out by the transfer student — the real-deal Gian. Ever since, he became Gian's flunky, his personality warping more and more, and instead of asking for help he tries to justify the bullying he himself once dished out to other classmates. Unable to communicate like a normal person, he ended up hated by the whole class, and eventually everyone just ignored him. Classic story, honestly. (A Doraemon-character analogy — "Gian" and "Suneo" are the manga's bully and his flunky, used here to stand in for the US/China and Imperial Japan.)
    888AnonymousSep 7, 2026 12:10
Re: #846 That's the view from China's side, isn't it? But that's not actually how it went. It starts from the fact that the transfer student — the real Gian — was the one who'd been wiping out native peoples everywhere he went. Every classroom he barged into ended up wiped out entirely… and the next one he set his sights on was Asia. Left unchecked, Asia was headed for the same massacre… and at that point, there was exactly one who stood up to him — that was Japan. Unfortunately, the ones at fault were the Japanese (and Koreans) of that era who tried to use Manchuria as a defensive line… that part did happen. But in the end, Gian got punched back and gave up the massacre. Except because that country submitted to Gian, it's kept getting bullied ever since… that's the correct reading of it, I think.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The law establishing the “National Intelligence Council” is real legislation that passed during the recent special Diet session, based on the coalition agreement the LDP and Japan Innovation Party signed on October 20, 2025. The next points of focus are enacting an anti-espionage law and establishing a Foreign Intelligence Agency (tentative name); the government has also been asked to consider introducing criminal penalties for “improper” interference by foreign powers, though that’s still at the discussion stage. What split the thread was how to read the asymmetry between this framework — clearly aimed at specific countries like China and North Korea — and the fact that the Japan-US Status of Forces Agreement or America’s economic demands (like the investment agreement) are never framed as “interference in domestic affairs.” Those who see special treatment as natural given the alliance clashed with those who see it as effectively a relationship of subordination. One point of possible confusion that never came up in the thread’s back-and-forth: the “Foreign Interference Prevention Law” doesn’t name any specific country — it refers to a broader institutional framework covering things like foreign funding and influence operations in general.

  • Gifu Cake Shop Arson Leaves 5 Dead or Injured — Man in His 70s Who Died Wasn’t Even Invited to the Gathering

A fire believed to be arson broke out at the cake shop “Sunrise” in Motosu, Gifu Prefecture, leaving five people dead or injured. It has now emerged that the man in his 70s who died after being taken to hospital had not been invited to the gathering held there that day. The gathering was an occasional get-together of junior high school classmates centered on a woman (66) believed to be the shop’s owner, with attendees said to be mostly aged 64 to 65. Wondering why a man in his 70s — who apparently wasn’t invited — was even at the scene, 5ch users traded all kinds of theories about the age gap and the relationships involved.

In the fire believed to be arson at a combined cake shop and residence in Motosu, Gifu Prefecture, which left five people dead or injured, it has come to light that the man who died after being taken to hospital had not been invited to the gathering.

At around 9 p.m. two days ago, a fire broke out at the cake shop “Sunrise” in Motosu, Gifu Prefecture,

burning roughly 300 square meters of the two-story building.

play mahjong, and sing karaoke. Neighbors expressed the depth of their shock, saying things like "It had no bad reputation" and "This is devastating."

The fire broke out after closing time, and it's believed the gathering was serving its usual social role as always.
A man (66) who was in the same grade as the owner in junior high said, "A lot of well-behaved people are in that group, and their love for their old school runs deep, so the community has held together."
He himself had only been invited to a mahjong session a few months earlier. "It's a complicated feeling — I can't even ask the people around me about the incident," he said, looking down.

Fuji Funeral Services — Doll Memorial Festival
Sales corner: Sunrise — Cakes & Sweets

Background and Key Points of This Story

“Sunrise,” where the fire started, is believed to have served after closing time as a spot where a woman (66) thought to be the owner and her junior high classmates gathered to play mahjong and sing karaoke, and it’s likely a similar gathering was underway that day too. While the core attendees are said to have been 64 to 65 years old, the man who died was around 70 — not matching the gathering’s target age group. Because of this age gap, discussion on the thread centered on the possibility that the man wasn’t actually meant to be there and ended up at the scene through some other circumstance. Peripheral details, such as a business partnership with a funeral company, have also surfaced, but why the man was present and the specifics of his relationship with the perpetrator have not been clarified in reporting, and the motive for the incident has not been established as fact at this stage of the investigation. Worth noting that this is a topic where speculation tends to run ahead of confirmed facts.

  • Takafumi Horie on Tomomi Itano backlash: “Yeah, some of that’s just poor-people envy”

Businessman Takafumi Horie addressed online criticism of former AKB48 member Tomomi Itano on his YouTube channel. Some have accused Itano of “flexing” over the international school her daughter attends and her use of a foreign domestic-staffing service. Horie responded that it’s “envy from people who are economically poor,” predicting the backlash would “die down within a month.” The comment sparked debate on the 5ch Geino/Sports News+ board, with users split over whether dismissing criticism as mere envy is fair, and others pointing out real structural problems with international schools themselves.

Businessman Takafumi Horie, known as “Horiemon,” updated his YouTube channel on the 6th, sharing his personal take on online criticism aimed at former AKB48 member and TV personality Tomomi Itano.

In the video, the topic turned to criticism from some quarters accusing Itano of “flexing,” relating to her daughter attending an international school and her use of a foreign-born housekeeping staffer.

When his manager, who was interviewing him, asked, “Do you think kids develop more ability at an international school than at a Japanese school?” Horie replied, “I think that depends on the international school,” before adding, “But honestly, that criticism is just envy from people who are too poor to send their own kids to an international school even though they’d like to.”

International schools actually have huge problems though
Most of them aren't recognized as real "schools" by Japan's Ministry of Education, so the only path forward after graduating is a university overseas

I eat vegetables because they're delicious!

Background and key points of the debate

Horie’s “criticism equals envy” line is a familiar refrain of his, and this latest YouTube comment is just the newest instance of it. What split the thread was the validity of that argument itself: some questioned dismissing critics’ points outright based on their finances rather than engaging with the substance, while others countered that most of the criticism really is tinged with jealousy anyway. Worth noting, though, is that many international schools aren’t officially recognized as “schools” under Japan’s School Education Act by the Ministry of Education — meaning graduates’ options afterward can be limited mainly to universities abroad. That’s a structural issue facing any family that chooses international education, not just something specific to Itano. It’s worth remembering that this institutional point tends to get buried under the more emotionally charged “envy” debate.

  • One Piece’s Current State Divides Fans: 5ch Users Say ‘Demon Slayer Is the Better Manga’

On 5ch’s “Nanidemo Jikkyou G” board, a discussion about the current state of One Piece heated up. It started with talk of sluggish volume sales — someone noted the convenience store shelves weren’t moving — and spiraled into comparisons involving One Piece’s Guinness World Record for total print run and its return-rate versus Demon Slayer and Dragon Ball. From there, complaints piled up about the changing art style, pacing, and plot direction, with some accusing the characters of having become slaves to the plot. Meanwhile, readers who’d recently binge-read the series to catch up pushed back, saying it’s “genuinely still good” — exposing a split between longtime fans and newer readers.

Ever since the series became plot-first, the characters turned into Oda's puppets — it's done for as a story.

Usopp just gets heart-eyes, drooling over his dream destination Elbaf, and lectures Imu and Gaban.
Chopper ditches his job as the crew's doctor to go translate for an owl in the middle of a battlefield.
Brook gets a pointless, dragged-out flashback arc that's supposed to lead into rescuing Gunko, except the Straw Hats can't even break the ice themselves — in the end it's Loki's hammer flying in out of nowhere that smashes it.

It's stopped being "characters act, and the story emerges" — now it's "characters act just to make the story work."

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

One Piece is a series with a total print run so massive it’s earned a Guinness World Record — its sheer print numbers stand out even within the industry. The “about half returned unsold” figure that came up in the thread isn’t an official statistic; it’s an anonymous post based on bookstore impressions and guesswork, not a verified number, so it should be taken with caution. The comparisons to Demon Slayer and Dragon Ball are also simple print-run comparisons against works that wrapped up or went on hiatus while still at the height of their popularity — a different situation from a series still being serialized. Where opinions in the thread split was along generational and reading-style lines: longtime readers tend to be disappointed by the changes in characters and direction, while readers who recently binge-read to catch up are enjoying it at face value. This kind of split in how a long-running series gets evaluated, based on when a reader started following it, isn’t unique to One Piece — it’s a structural point worth keeping in mind when reading any critique of a long-running work.

  • Young workers who quit on the spot after being called out at their part-time job — 5ch: “If you’re in the wrong, just apologize”

An article describing today’s young people — who quit the moment they’re called out for a mistake at a part-time job, and get irritated at being corrected even when they’re clearly at fault — sparked a wave of reaction on 5ch. Behind it lies a generation raised with almost no experience of being scolded, and the question of whether “praise-based parenting and education” has actually done anything to boost their self-esteem. In the thread, posters from the brutal Employment Ice Age generation called it plain self-indulgence, while others firmly defended those who quit, arguing the real problem lies with companies’ treatment of workers and their management style — turning it into a conflict that resists any simple generational explanation.

    Published 9/6 (Sun), 7:31 AM

    with online

“I got yelled at for a mistake at my part-time job, so I’m quitting.” “Even when I’m the one in the wrong, being called out on it just annoys me.” These days, more young people are growing up at school and at home with almost no experience of being scolded. To raise the self-esteem of Japanese youth — said to be lower than that of their Western counterparts — many have championed “praise-based parenting and education.” But does it actually raise self-esteem at all? This piece is excerpted and edited from the book “Does Self-Esteem Have to Be High?” (Chikuma Shobo), digging into why praise alone doesn’t necessarily build self-esteem.

    Re: #417
Most of the time, this stuff happens in the first place because of how the company does things.
Blaming everything on frontline workers and never fixing anything is on management — the ones who quit are the ones in the right.
The workplace needs to change its ways first.
    504AnonymousSep 7, 2026 07:50
It's such a simple thing — if you're at fault, you apologize — yet there are way too many idiots who twist it into "the company's methods are outdated" or "I'm being made to do work that doesn't match my pay."
They're stuck in blame-everyone-else mode and never once think they might be at fault, so the idea of apologizing just doesn't occur to them.

They'll blame the company for everything, quit, quit, quit, trash their own work history, and once they can't get hired anywhere, they'll probably start whining that society is the problem.
In a way, it's almost sociopathic.

    534AnonymousSep 7, 2026 07:55

No, that's not right. It's precisely because people put up with terrible ("black," i.e. exploitative) workplaces for so long — scolding subordinates while ignoring how bad the company's own methods are is itself blame-everyone-else thinking.
If the company's ways never change, people will keep quitting one after another and only the low-quality ones will be left.

The people bashing Gen Z in this thread are probably all stuck in bottom-tier jobs themselves.
At the government-affiliated financial institution where I work, there's a rank-and-file Ice Age generation employee who shows up, sits down and goofs off all day, screams at customers, screams at his boss, and then once quitting time hits, files for three hours of overtime pay and goes right back to goofing off — and he's pulling in 11 million yen a year (roughly $75,000) doing that. If I showed people that reality, a lot of folks in this thread would probably lose their minds.

The Ice Age generation is the one that got exploited the hardest, after all.
Giving up days off and pulling unpaid "service overtime" was just normal, using paid leave was obviously out of the question, and this was the generation where the "manager in title only" scandal (staff labeled as managers just to dodge overtime pay) became a real issue.
Staffing agencies tacked on fees under all kinds of pretexts (remember Goodwill, which later went bankrupt after that became a scandal?), and bosses didn't give reasonable guidance — they just screamed and browbeat people.
The labor people put in was clearly not matched by what they got paid.

In the last thread there was some idiot going on about how they'd work hard for 10,000 yen an hour instead of minimum wage, but someone who can't even handle a minimum-wage job obviously can't handle a job paying 10,000 yen an hour.

    Re: #813
    No, that's not right.
Of course nobody's going to try hard at a minimum-wage job.

Background and key points of this discussion

When people talk about young Japanese lacking experience of being scolded, “praise-based education” often comes up as the culprit — an approach that spread as a countermeasure to Japanese children’s self-esteem being seen as low by international comparison. Meanwhile, in the thread, a post claiming “30,000 people a year died by suicide” during the Ice Age generation era was corrected by other posters, who pointed out that this figure referred to middle-aged and older people at the time, not the Ice Age generation itself — a distinction worth keeping straight, since it’s easy to conflate when discussing generational arguments. The debate largely split into two camps: those who see the lack of tolerance for being scolded as simple self-indulgence, and those who see the real problem in working conditions and how workplaces handle guidance, making quitting a legitimate response — a picture that goes beyond a simple generational divide. Among Ice Age generation posters, there were also notable reactions drawing parallels to their own experience of enduring hardship without ever landing full-time employment.

  • “I barely get to eat at my single mother’s house” — Ad about child poverty sparks big reactions

A Japanese TV ad depicting a sixth-grader growing up in a single-mother household has stirred up discussion on 5ch’s Nandemo Jikkyo G board (a general live-discussion forum). The line “I barely get to eat properly” set off a wide range of reactions — criticism of government policy and the welfare system, debate over the realities of child support and public assistance, and claims that boys tend to be turned away from children’s cafeterias (kodomo shokudo, community meal programs for kids). At the same time, some questioned where the donated money actually goes, and others argued that public consultation services should be publicized before running ads like this — turning the thread into a broader debate about how child-poverty measures should really work.

Background and key points of this discussion

Behind this story is the 2019 controversy in which NHK featured a high school girl as an example of “poverty,” only for it to later emerge that she’d been buying up merchandise at idol events — a scandal that blew up at the time. Threads keep citing this incident, showing how deep the distrust of the concept of “relative poverty” itself still runs. On child-poverty measures, many argued that public systems like welfare and child support should be publicized before resorting to ad campaigns like this one, and some questioned where donated funds actually end up. It’s worth noting that claims about boys being turned away from children’s cafeterias remain anecdotal and aren’t backed by official statistics.

No way that manager character could ever pull off a beloved-figure arc like Otsuki

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

“Mii-chan and Yamada-san” is a manga known for its shocking ending, in which the protagonist is buried in the mountains by her own mother, and many comments on this anime-adaptation announcement pointed out the gap between the poster’s wholesome look and the original’s extreme content. The Shinjuku Station ad follows one already up at Sendai Station, and since in-station transit advertising signals that the production committee is investing a sizable budget, the thread saw hopeful comments like “this is the season’s top dog” and “that must’ve cost a fortune.” At the same time, other users doubted that the TV anime could avoid content changes, or questioned whether the buzz would last until it actually airs, resulting in a mix of anticipation and skepticism. The author’s other work, “Tenchou,” was also brought up, once again highlighting how divisive their style can be.

  • Are 2K Monitors Pointless? 5ch Erupts Over Resolution Debate

A thread titled “2K monitor users are idiots” appeared on the Hardware/Industry (“Geha”) board and grew into a broader debate over resolution and scaling methods. When it comes to PC monitors, “2K” isn’t an official standard — it’s a nickname that came to refer to 2560×1440 (QHD), sitting between Full HD (1920×1080) and 4K (3840×2160). In the thread, opinions clashed over whether integer-multiple scaling matters when displaying Full HD or 720p content on a 4K screen, and over how high a refresh rate humans can actually perceive. Some also argued for deliberately choosing FHD or smaller monitors for gaming, prioritizing response speed — splitting opinion between image quality and practicality.

After 2K, go for 4K instead — the pixel counts work out to clean multiples
    10AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:06
    Re: #7
On smartphones this has been the norm for about 15 years now, but with high pixel density, scaling gets applied regardless, so integer multiples don't really matter anymore.

It mattered up through 24-inch FHD monitors with a pixel pitch of about 0.25mm, but now the whole "dot-by-dot" obsession has lost most of its relevance
    12AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:07
    Re: #10
That's exactly the point — when you scale it, the pixel count comes out to a clean multiple, that's why it's good

Let me ask you this instead — you don't know about Integer Scaling? lol
    21AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:13
There are all kinds of scaling methods, you know
Intel was pushing hard on integer-multiple scaling a while back, though I haven't kept up lately
Even without a dedicated feature in the drivers, if the monitor itself supports it, you can get proper integer scaling regardless of pixel pitch using things like Db4D
The dual-mode panels around these days are pretty good too
    27AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:16
    Re: #21
Messing with upscaling in retro hardware emulators really teaches you all sorts of algorithms
You probably end up knowing more than people who are heavy users of photo-retouching software
And preferences vary a lot too
    23AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:14
Game shaders use advanced blending techniques (not anti-aliasing) to look as good as possible, and there's a scaling algorithm serving as the fallback for that — yet here are people worshipping "integer scaling is the ultimate truth" without ever actually looking at the real pixels. That's how dumb it is.
    28AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:17
    Re: #23
Well, integer scaling is still better than non-integer scaling though
4K can display both FHD and 720p as clean integer multiples
Even with a mediocre scaler, that beats stretching FHD onto a QHD screen (assuming no GPU upscaling, obviously)
    30AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:18
    Re: #23
    Not too bright, are you?

    36AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:23
    Re: #33
With consoles, even when it's rendering at QHD internally, it seems like it upscales to 4K first and then downscales back to QHD for HDMI output
So you don't get the benefit of native QHD rendering like you would on PC — kind of a waste

    It's Full HD though 😂

Bought a cheap 4K TV at Geo (Japanese secondhand electronics chain), but I never actually use it for gaming
It's become a dedicated Fire TV Stick machine

Serious gamers actually recommend FHD for its responsiveness

Bought a dirt-cheap FHD 200Hz monitor for Mario Kart and played on it for a while
Turns out you really do get used to "looking sharp" fast
Never did hook it back up to the 4K screen

How far you can perceive frame rate differences varies by person, but
in an NHK study, even people in their 50s-60s showed a clear, statistically significant difference in perception up to 240Hz when watching sports

    Re: #62
    Exactly this

In Sony's experiment, the figure cited was 360Hz
    71AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:39
With 4K, screen size naturally tends to get bigger,
which means your eyes have to travel farther, slowing your reaction time
If you're playing on instinct and feel, you don't really need that big a screen

Only updated the DLSS DLL, everything else vanilla, and this is what I'm getting

Was planning to enjoy my second playthrough with DLSS5 turned on,
but on the harder difficulty the fights get brutal right from the start, so I'm still running vanilla here

    Checked Frame Generation on/off too
Since this is a Capcom (written as "Capunko" — a jokey misspelling) RE Engine game, does a lower base fps actually tend to help with parry timing and stuff? lol

Background and Key Points of This Debate

The term “2K” originally comes from the film industry, where it refers to a resolution of roughly 2048×1080. Calling the common PC monitor resolution of 2560×1440 (WQHD/QHD) “2K” is really just a colloquialism. The thread’s central disagreement was over whether “integer-multiple scaling” — used when displaying Full HD or 720p content on a 4K screen — still matters for image quality today; some argued it’s an outdated concern given how fine the pixel pitch is on current displays, while others insisted it’s still important. On refresh rates, some cited NHK and Sony experiments as evidence that humans can perceive meaningful differences even beyond 240Hz, while others prioritized practical gaming performance, deliberately choosing FHD or smaller monitors for faster response times — a value system distinct from pure image-quality maximalism that’s easy to overlook in this debate.

  • Nakajima Takui Fan Attends Morning Musume。’26 Solo Concert — 5ch Reacts: ‘Oda Sakura Was Overwhelming’

A poster claiming to be a fan of Nakajima Takui shared their impressions of attending a Morning Musume。’26 solo concert on 5ch’s “Hello!Project” board. Alongside praise like “Oda Sakura was overwhelming” and “Inoue Haruno’s stability,” they also talked about how active the 18th-generation members were and their expectations for Sugihara. This sparked a mixed reaction in the thread over how the group’s songs are increasingly coming from outside songwriters like Nakajima Takui and Yamazaki Aoi, rather than centering on Tsunku♂. Some welcomed the outside writers’ songs, while others pointed out similarities to existing tracks, and the discussion spiraled into a broader debate about the group’s songwriting lineup.

Wait, it's not Takui himself, just a fan?
Don't start a thread over one fan's opinion.
    7AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:24
Not happening as long as Tsunku's still alive and watching (lit. 'while his eyes are still black').

    Re: #7
It's the agency picking the non-Tsunku songs, so that's beside the point.
    17AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:29
Takui, huh… well, he's still better than Tsunku♂ or Hoshibe Sho.
Weaning Morning Musume。 off Tsunku and BEYOOOOONDS off Hoshibe Sho are both urgent tasks.
Morning Musume。 is cursed by Tsunku, and BEYOOOOONDS is cursed by Hoshibe Sho.
Meanwhile Juice=Juice blew up thanks to goddess composer Yamazaki Aoi (33, female singer-songwriter).

Same as 'Chuden' (an inside reference/nickname).

With Nemo, Kari, and Tsubaki all getting promoted, Takui's going to be busy writing songs — no time for that.
    23AnonymousSep 7, 2026 10:33
Just because it's a Takui song doesn't automatically make it good.

Among Hello!Project's current songwriters, Yamazaki Aoi (33, female singer-songwriter) is easily the best.
She's the one who actually composed 'Moremia Amore' herself. You're number one.

Doesn't seem like it'd suit the formation dance, so probably a no-go.

    【Addendum】

・The 18th-gen members actually got a lot of stage time
Impressive👍 considering it's the tour right after they joined

・Homare's talk skills are on another level, really drew me in

・Feels like there's still untapped talent waiting to bloom

・Oda Sakura is still the best, of course

    Don't need Takui.
It's about time Hyadain wrote a song for Musume。.

Haru-san's dancing is like a sport — totally addictive.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

For years, Tsunku♂ was the central figure behind Morning Musume。’s songs, but since he stepped back from the public eye for health reasons, the group has increasingly turned to outside composers. This thread, too, centered on evaluating that roster of writers — Hoshibe Sho, who handles songs for sister group BEYOOOOONDS, and Yamazaki Aoi and Nakajima Takui, whose names come up in connection with groups like Juice=Juice. Opinions split over whether the outside writers’ songs are working out well: some voiced hope, while others pointed to similarities with existing tracks. It’s worth noting that such claims of similarity or plagiarism are just the personal impressions of anonymous posters and have not been confirmed as fact. In compiling this article, comments that amounted to direct personal attacks on individual members’ singing ability or character were also excluded. Readers should keep in mind that this isn’t an official announcement, but a discussion that grew out of one fan’s impressions after attending a concert.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello!Project) thread “A Nakajima Takui fanatic’s impressions after attending the Morning Musume。’26 concert: ‘Oda was overwhelming, Inoue’s stability, Sugihara is so promising — time for a Takui song for Morning Musume’“.
