  • ‘Moré! Mi Amore’ Went Viral Because of Kudo Yua’s Opening Line — 5ch: ‘Her Batting Average Is Pretty High’

Juice=Juice’s song “Moré! Mi Amore” has been making waves on social media, and on 5ch’s Hello! Project board, opinion after opinion pointed to the same cause: Kudo Yua’s opening line. The phrase she belts out right at the start — which some hear as “Hyore-mi-amore” — is said to leave a strong impression precisely because of its shaky edge. One post even cited a TOKYO FM feature ranking where “Moré! Mi Amore” came in second, right behind Momoiro Clover Z’s “Agehachou.” The thread lit up with talk of how crucial that opening line is, plus hopes of seeing the song performed at Kohaku Uta Gassen (Japan’s year-end song contest).

At the end of the day, whether a song goes viral often comes down to the first few seconds.
In that sense, Kudo Yua deserves huge credit for building the doorway into 'Moré Mi.'
    2AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:16
The opening line matters a ton — so much that people say it's part of why fewer songs these days even bother with an intro.
    3AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:17
Can't picture anyone but Tako-chan (Kudo Yua's nickname) handling that opening line.
    4AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:21
Now that you mention it, Tako-chan gets a lot of opening lines.
Same with 'Burabare' and 'Ketsuron Kara' (fan shorthand for other Juice=Juice tracks).

    74AnonymousSep 20, 2026 20:05
Not many songs open with almost no intro and just launch straight into a killer opening line — I think that's smart differentiation.

Apparently Taisei picked the top two finishers of an in-house 'energy contest' for the line — I'd love to hear every member's recorded take on 'Moré! Mi Amore' to judge for myself.

For what it's worth, I'm also a fan of the second 'Moré!' shout — depending on the performance, that one can hit even harder.

    Background and Key Points

“Moré! Mi Amore” is a Juice=Juice song, and its standout feature is the opening line “Hyoremiamore,” sung by Kudo Yua. Note that the TOKYO FM ranking cited in the thread comes from the show’s own original feature, not an official music chart. In evaluating the opening line, most commenters valued its split-second impact over vocal stability, with several posts jokingly comparing how her live performance varies show to show to a ‘gacha’ pull. As for a Kohaku Uta Gassen appearance, those posts are simply wishful thinking — nothing in the thread confirms any lineup or song selection has actually been decided.

  • AEON’s Tuna Label Prints the “China” in “Made in China” Suspiciously Faint — Shoppers Cry Foul

A photo of a tuna pack sold at AEON was posted on the 5ch forum. In the “Made in China” label, only the character for “China” was printed faintly, making it easy to misread as “Domestic” (Made in Japan) at a glance — sparking debate over whether this was a deliberate trick to mislead shoppers. Opinions in the thread were split: some argued it was just an accidental smudge from a dirty print head, while others pointed to the different font as evidence of intentional tampering. The discussion also touched on how tuna origin labeling works in general, and frustration over high prices.

    54AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:50
They'll probably just claim it was a label printer loading error and dodge it

Background and Key Points of Debate

In Japan, the Food Labeling Act (formerly the JAS Law) requires country-of-origin labeling on fresh food. For fish species like tuna, where farmed and imported products are mixed in with the rest, labels like “Domestic” or “Made in China” directly affect price and purchasing decisions, making legibility of these labels important information for consumers. The thread was split on whether the faint printing of just the “China” character was a deliberate attempt to mislead, or simply a printing glitch. If it were caused by a dirty print head, the whole character should have faded evenly, but as pointed out in reply #60, some commenters noted that the font itself looked different, so no conclusion has been reached. It’s worth noting that this case originated from a single photo posted on social media, and AEON has not issued any explanation or official statement. There have been past controversies about processing imported tuna to make its color look better, but that is a separate issue from this labeling mistake, and the two should not be confused.

  • Video of Crab Being Cruelly Cooked Sparks Controversy — ‘Does It Feel Pain?’ Debate Spirals Into a Whaling Row

A video posted to 5ch’s “Everything Live” board showing a crab being cooked in a brutal way drew a wave of reactions. Viewers were stunned that the crab kept moving even after being cut apart, with comments like “isn’t this thing way too tough to kill?” The conversation soon turned to Japan’s food culture of cooking seafood alive, such as ikizukuri (live sashimi preparation). From there, discussion spiraled into questions about whether crustaceans can feel pain or fear, and a fierce debate over the ethics of eating whale meat — ending without any consensus.

Exactly this. Same with fishing — felt bad for them at first, but now I just casually cut off the head, toss the guts, and take it home

Background and Key Points of This Debate

The whale-meat controversy is a topic that keeps resurfacing online ever since Japan withdrew from the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in 2019 and resumed commercial whaling; the question of whether the line should be drawn based on intelligence once again ended without resolution this time. As for crustacean pain, the UK legally recognized decapods (such as lobsters and crabs) and cephalopods (octopuses and squid) as “sentient beings” in 2021 — the thread comment calling it “a pointless law” appears to be referring to this. Note that some posts in the thread flatly claimed that Chinese and Korean food culture “tastes better the more you torture the animal,” naming those countries directly, but since these are unsourced claims, they have been excluded from this article. In any case, whether crustaceans even have the nervous system needed to feel pain remains disputed among researchers, so it’s no surprise the thread never reached a conclusion.

  • Why Hello! Project’s Sunday night shows aren’t selling out like they used to: ‘Because you can’t get home’

On a 5ch thread where Hello! Project concertgoers gather, discussion turned to why tickets for Sunday night shows aren’t selling out the way they used to. Many pointed to a growing number of fans avoiding overnight stays because it would interfere with work the next day, along with earlier last trains on the Shinkansen and rising hotel and transportation costs for those traveling to shows. Others noted that stricter identity checks aimed at curbing ticket scalping have broken the old strategy of cheaply securing both a matinee and evening ticket as a set, revealing a structural shift that can’t simply be chalked up to fans “falling out of love” with the group.

That's part of it too, honestly. These days people apply for a ticket just in case, and only take paid leave the next day if the seat turns out to be really good. If it's a bad seat, they just let it go to waste.

If you're traveling out for a show, the cost per show is way too high unless you catch both the matinee and evening.

    Re: #81
By that logic, the matinee shows shouldn't be selling out either, right?
    89AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:24
Wait, so it's the regional evening shows that aren't selling out? In the Tokyo area you can't even get a ticket for Juice=Juice.

Planned service suspensions (preemptive train shutdowns during bad weather) have become common, which makes traveling to shows risky. Never mind transportation costs — hotel price hikes are brutal. And rising ticket prices are quietly rough too.

Hello! Project used to force its way through regional tours, but it was really just the same fans from the Tokyo area traveling out to see them. Now those fans are shifting into retirement, or the Ice Age generation (Japan's "lost generation" that struggled to find stable jobs) has become the core demographic, so they can't push themselves like before. Female fans especially only show up for shows close to home or at Budokan.
    114AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:37

    123AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:42
    Re: #121
Then the matinee would have to start too early and people couldn't make it. A 5pm start is just about right.
    122AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:41
You'd normally book a hotel to hold before you even find out if you won the ticket lottery, right?
    124AnonymousSep 20, 2026 19:43
    Re: #122
For a 1,500-capacity regional venue you can reach by Shinkansen, there's no need to do that. I've never booked ahead of time for one of those.

    Background and Key Points

Several institutional and social shifts have combined to make Sunday night shows harder to sell out. The Ticket Resale Prohibition Act, which came into full effect in 2019, tightened identity verification and made it much harder to cheaply pick up leftover tickets and attend both a matinee and an evening show back to back, as fans used to do. In addition, Shinkansen last trains have increasingly been moved to earlier times in recent years to allow time for track maintenance work, narrowing the range of destinations fans can day-trip to and from. Hotel prices have also risen due to inbound tourism demand and inflation, raising the barrier to traveling for shows in general.

Within the thread, opinions were split between those who see this as a matter of fan demographics aging and retiring, straining stamina and finances, and those who see it as a problem with how organizers schedule the start and end times of shows. Both are likely contributing factors — the reality is probably a combination of several causes rather than something explainable by just one.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “Why Sunday night shows are far less full than they used to be.”

  • Borussia Mönchengladbach, Home to 4 Japanese Players, Opens Season 0-4 with 16 Goals Conceded — German Media: ‘Not Worthy of Being Called a Defense’

Borussia Mönchengladbach took on Mainz in Matchday 4 of the Bundesliga on September 19, and although they fought back with a penalty from Ko Itakura among other efforts, they fell 3-4, marking a miserable start of four straight opening losses and 16 goals conceded. The club has four Japan national team-caliber players on its roster — Ko Itakura, Daiki Hashioka, Shuto Machino, and Zento Uno — but German media blasted the back line as ‘not worthy of being called a defense.’ On 5channel, a debate broke out between those defending Itakura and those criticizing him over how directly he was responsible for the goals conceded.

Re: #72 Right, they age fast too — knees fill up with fluid, and they whine about their upper arms and neck hurting. They're getting a bit too chubby these days

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Borussia Mönchengladbach currently has four Japan national team-caliber players at once — Ko Itakura, Daiki Hashioka, Shuto Machino, and Zento Uno — a rare concentration of Japanese talent at a single Bundesliga club. Despite this, the team opened the season with four straight losses and 16 goals conceded, prompting German media to single out and slam the back line by name. Where opinions split in the thread was over how much individual responsibility to place on Itakura: those defending him argued he had little direct involvement in the goals conceded, while critics countered that as the defensive leader, ‘not directly involved’ isn’t an excuse. It’s also worth noting — something not obvious from the article text alone — that Mainz, that day’s opponent, features Japan national team player Kaishu Sano, and the thread’s undercurrent draws a comparison between Japanese players whose transfer destinations turned out very differently.

*This article is compiled from excerpts and a summary of the 5channel (Geinou/Sports News+) thread ‘‘Not top-flight level’ — Japanese quartet’s team mired in historic collapse with 4 straight opening losses, 16 goals conceded; back line marshaled by Japan national team defender is ‘not worthy of being called a defense’.’

  • Tsubaki Factory’s Otsuki Nishimura Stuns With New Hairstyle — 5ch: ‘She Totally Leveled Up Overnight’

On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, a thread lit up over Tsubaki Factory’s Otsuki Nishimura (nicknamed “Itsuking”) completely transforming her image with a new hairstyle and styling. At the same time, some posters weren’t fully convinced by the sudden shift in opinion, grumbling that “it’s weird to suddenly call her cute now,” so opinions were split, and speculation flew about a possible member-color change following Akiyama’s graduation from the group.

Background and key points of this discussion

Tsubaki Factory is an idol group under the Hello! Project umbrella, and Otsuki Nishimura (“Itsuking”) is one of its members. Phrases that circulated in the thread, like “she totally leveled up overnight” and “the second coming of Yukarin,” are the kind of comparisons Hello! Project fans often reach for, measuring a member against a beloved senior idol from the past. On the other hand, the pushback of “it’s weird to suddenly call her cute now” is a familiar “flip-flopping” criticism that tends to surface whenever a member’s reputation suddenly rises — a friction that’s fairly common on idol fan boards. It’s worth noting that the back-and-forth in the thread is just an exchange among some anonymous board posters, and shouldn’t be taken as representing the views of the group as a whole or of the member herself. Likewise, the speculation about a member-color change is nothing more than guesswork ahead of any official announcement.

  • Shingo Katori’s Fashion Brand Slams Collab Partner Over Unauthorized Overproduction and Outlet Dumping

The fashion brand “JANTJE_ONTEMBAAR,” founded by actor Shingo Katori (49), has issued a protest statement against its collaboration partner VASIC (Vasic Japan Inc.). According to the brand, VASIC produced more units than were actually ordered and then sold the surplus without authorization through its own outlet stores. The brand called it “not just a serious breach of contract, but an illegal act.” On 5ch, posters noted that this kind of padded production and back-door dumping isn’t unusual in the apparel industry, questioned whether the items were even selling well, and pointed out that VASIC, despite branding itself as “New York-born,” looks like it’s actually a Japanese company.

    Sun, Sep 20, 2:12 PM

The official website of “JANTJE_ONTEMBAAR,” the fashion brand launched in 2018 by actor Shingo Katori (49), was updated on the 20th. The brand reported that some of its collaboration items had been sold without permission at certain outlet stores, and expressed its regret over the matter.

Via its official site, the brand stated: “Since around this summer, we have confirmed multiple posts on social media indicating that collaboration items between JANTJE_ONTEMBAAR and VASIC (Vasic Japan Inc.) were being sold at VASIC’s outlet stores.”

    Re: #80
They don't even have a store in New York — so why "New York-born"?

Background and key points of this discussion

The core issue here isn’t counterfeiting or diversion of goods — it’s that a legitimate manufacturing partner produced more units than were actually ordered, and then sold that surplus through an unauthorized channel: its own outlet stores. Several posters in the thread noted that this kind of padded production and back-channel dumping tends to stay hidden in the apparel industry and isn’t as rare as it might seem, citing past examples like the unauthorized sale of Yoshida Kaban bags and a camping gear maker that once commercialized equipment designed by the YouTuber Hiroshi without permission. Others pointed out that VASIC brands itself as “New York-born” despite having physical stores only in Japan, raising questions about the gap between its branding and its actual identity as, in effect, a Japanese company. Notably, the official statement only says the brand “will take even stricter action going forward” — as of this report, it has not explicitly stated that concrete legal steps, such as a lawsuit, have been taken.

  • Fukumura, Inaba, Morito, Koseki, Asakura Tour Kicks Off — Fans Baffled by Reported 200-Person Turnout

Hello! Project idols Satoyo Fukumura, Manaka Inaba, Chisaki Morito, Mai Koseki, and Juju Asakura kicked off their joint tour, but things got heated on 5ch’s Hello! Project board after a post claimed the day-of ticket numbers were only in the low 200s, sparking talk that “only 200 people showed up.” The thread split into camps arguing over whether solo tours or joint tours draw bigger crowds, with some pointing to how much the absence of certain members was hurting turnout. Others questioned where the “200 people” figure even came from, noting that day-of ticket numbers aren’t the same as total attendance — so the discussion kept spreading even though the actual facts were never pinned down.

    Re: #83
They don't actually draw that many…

    Background and key points

Hello! Project has been holding more joint tours featuring multiple members together in recent years. While these cost less to produce than solo tours, they also spread the fan base thinner, making it harder to tell who people actually came to see. The “low 200s ticket numbers” cited as evidence in the thread refer to the order in which day-of tickets were issued — not the same as total attendance, which would also include advance and fan-club presale tickets, a distinction the thread itself never addressed. Some posts also compared turnout at a free or membership-based event like “Kanshasai” directly against a paid solo show’s attendance, but treating two very different kinds of events as equivalent like that is easy for readers to misread. While many posters attributed the low turnout to certain members’ absence, no official attendance figures were cited anywhere in the thread to back that up.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “It’s bizarre that a tour lineup like Fukumura, Inaba, Morito, Koseki, and Asakura only drew 200 people on opening day.”

Background and Key Points of This Story

What has been reported is an arrest on suspicion of assault, and since Inomata denies the allegations, the actual circumstances behind the injury and the truth of his “I panicked” explanation remain to be clarified through further investigation. The thread was full of posts speculating about motives like pregnancy or a breakup, but it’s worth noting these are anonymous-board speculation, not facts confirmed by reporting. Some posters also brought up past assault incidents involving other celebrities, fueling questions about how the agency will respond and how the entertainment industry handles violence cases in general.

In a thread titled “The Worst School Lunch Menu Ever” on 5channel’s “Anything Goes Live” board, users piled on with one unpopular lunch dish after another. Alongside perennial cafeteria villains like sardines stewed in ketchup, glass noodle salad, vinegared dishes, and mystery gloopy stir-fries, one commenter shared the legend of pork and sweet potato mixed with mayonnaise — a dish so bad that even their homeroom teacher, normally a firm believer that “leaving food on your plate is just being lazy,” allowed students to skip it. A post from a private-school alum claiming “everything was delicious” drew pushback from others pointing out the tradeoff between taste and nutritional balance, highlighting a broader debate over how to balance flavor with healthy eating in school meals.

If anything, finding it delicious would mean your diet's out of balance somewhere else — that's the concerning part

I wish they hadn't served milk on rice days

Trying to drink milk with rice is the weird part
I mean, it's your own business, but there was always soup as an alternative to milk

    Background and Talking Points

School lunch programs in Japan originated after World War II as a way to ensure children got adequate nutrition, and that history still shapes them today: with tight budgets and mass-cooking constraints, nutritional balance and hygiene tend to take priority over taste. The mayonnaise-dressed dishes, sharply sour vinegared items, and heavily thickened stir-fries that came up in the thread are all cooking methods well-suited to mass production but poorly suited to individual taste. The thread saw a clash between the view that “finding it gross just means your palate is off” and the claim that “private schools always had delicious food,” but both are subjective takes based on personal experience — the quality of school lunches varies enormously by school, municipality, and era. The dishes mentioned here aren’t representative of any particular region or school; they’re best read simply as individual memories.
