Juice=Juice’s Budokan Show: New Fan Fumes Over Fans Drowning Out the Idols’ Calls — ‘I Didn’t Come to Hear Your Voice’

From our other sites

The story

The day after Juice=Juice held a solo concert at Nippon Budokan, a poster believed to be a new fan posted a complaint on 5ch’s Hello! Project board: “The guy behind me was calling so loud it drowned out Eba-chan and Ina’s chants — I couldn’t hear anything.” Hello! Project concerts have a deep-rooted fan culture of “calls,” where the audience shouts fixed chants in response to the members’ singing, and the thread split over whether to prioritize new fans’ desire for “quiet listening moments” or the calling traditions veteran fans have kept up for years. Plenty of replies also drifted into other venue-related topics, like the show’s big coverage in the sports papers and complaints about odors in the audience.

Saying this and ready for the "quit acting entitled, newbie" comments it's probably going to get. The guy behind me was calling SO loud that at first I figured I'd just use it to learn the calls — but then he drowned out Eba-chan and Ina's "Ao!" chant and I couldn't hear a thing! I didn't come here to hear YOUR voice! Seriously, stop drowning them out! I was so sad!

Then don't ever come to a Hello!Pro show again,
you casual-fan poser ("pinchike" — 5ch slang dismissing someone as a fake/non-serious fan).
6AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:32
Guess Matsunaga's just gonna have to become the next Tatsuro Yamashita (the singer famous for demanding dead silence from his concert audiences).
8AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:34
Just use concert earplugs —
they cut out a ton of that low-pitched old-man-otaku voice.
11AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:34
Not cut out for live shows.
Just stay home and watch the Blu-ray.
12AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:35
I thought we'd all agreed to drop the "Ao!" call — guess there are still holdouts.
13AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:36
Newbies who don't even know Hello!Pro's traditional calls should sit down.

Re: #13
It's a song that came out this year — there's no "tradition" to speak of for its call.
19AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:38
Just give up and stop coming — you're a nuisance.
21AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:39
Re: #19
Complaining here won't change anything — unless you storm their X (Twitter) mentions, the crowd's not shrinking.
25AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:41
Honestly, it's the newbies who are dragging down the quality of the shows.
26AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:43
Re: #25
Exactly this.
Nobody's here for a quiet show.

All 4 major Kanto sports papers (Sanspo, Nikkan Sports, Sponichi, Sports Hochi) ran huge spreads on yesterday's Budokan show‼ Meanwhile Angerme barely got a tiny blurb in Tokyo Sports.

Re: #27
(wrong @ target, lol) — let's compare it to the Pia Arena show instead lol
28AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:44
By the way, there were smell complaints too, you veterans.
Nice work on that one as well.
Please handle it at Pia Arena too.
29AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:44
Watching yesterday, yeah, the volume around the arena section was insane.
Getting hyped is one thing, but calls loud enough to drown out the speakers are a no — glad I was in the family seats.
33AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:46
Drowning out the "Ao" in Bloody Bullet is trash, I'll give you that.
36AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:49
OUR "Ao!"
Let's make it roar even louder!
37AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:50
If she had to sit through "Adrenaline" (another Juice=Juice song), she'd probably foam at the mouth and pass out.
40AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:51
Tsubaki Factory shows have way worse smell problems than Juice's to begin with.
41AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:51
This post just showed up on my feed — oh, an Airi fan, huh.
43AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:53
Re: #41
Ah, I see — just someone butting in with an unnecessary comment.
42AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:51
A veteran like me fine-tunes the intensity of my calls song by song.
Though I guess once you've decided it's annoying, it all just sounds like noise.
44AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:54
The second I sat down in the family seats, this intense cigarette-smoke smell hit me — I threw on a mask right away for defense, but I had a headache the whole show and barely took in any of it.
I figured the old guy on my left was the source, but then the old lady ("BBA," 5ch slang for "hag") on my right got up during the encore and the smell suddenly vanished — that's when I realized it was her all along.
Sorry for judging the old guy just by his looks, lol.

Re: #44
Apparently Budokan set up a temporary smoking area just for the Juice show (saw it on X) — there wasn't even one for Makino's graduation concert or for Tsubaki Factory. Guess Juice just draws a different breed of otaku.
45AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:55
Honestly, I don't want calls layered over that part either.
And don't call over Rei-Rei's chorus at the end, too.
If you don't want to hear loud voices, go sit in the family seats.
46AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:57
So is the "Ā-tan" call during "Naimono" (another song) okay, then?
47AnonymousNov 7, 2026 15:59
Re: #46
It's too loud, stop it.
I can't hear the members' voices — it's a nuisance.
49AnonymousNov 7, 2026 16:01
Please, for the love of god, stop otaku from drowning out the "Ao!" in BLOODY BULLET.
I want to hear it in the members' cute voices.
50AnonymousNov 7, 2026 16:01
Posts like this from the Juice fandom are genuinely hilarious.
53AnonymousNov 7, 2026 16:03
Come to think of it, Morning Musume (nicknamed "Musume") shows are pretty peaceful by comparison.
58AnonymousNov 7, 2026 16:07
Re: #53
"Odā! Odā! Odā!"
"geta geta geta geta geta geta geta geta geta geta" (fan chants — so much for "peaceful," lol)

Background and Key Points of This Debate

What Hello! Project fans call a “call” is a style of fan support where the audience shouts fixed chants in time with the members’ singing — and over the years, the exact pattern has become fixed for each group and each part of a song. What sounds to new fans like simple “loud shouting” feels, to veteran fans, like a natural and expected part of the song itself, and that gap in perception is at the root of the conflict. Where the thread really split was over where to draw the line on when calls should be held back (i.e., parts meant to showcase the members’ singing) — “I don’t want it drowned out” ran headlong into “a live show was never meant to be a quiet listening session” in a way the two sides couldn’t reconcile. Plenty of comments pushed back against new fans in general, too, but that’s less a judgment of this one poster and more a reflection of the manner friction that keeps flaring up at venues that have seen a rapid influx of new attendees. Note that replies containing personal attacks, identifying information, or discriminatory language have been excluded from this article.
