Love Live! Pre-Festival Show: Nijigasaki + Liella! Sells Out While Hoshi + Tori Still Has Tickets

From our other sites

The story

The Love Live! Fest pre-festival show is split into two separate performances: one featuring Nijigasaki (shorthand: “Niji”) and Liella! (shorthand: “Hasu”), and another featuring the remaining two units, nicknamed Hoshi (lit. “star”) and Tori (lit. “bird”). A 5ch thread blew up over the fact that the Nijigasaki+Liella! show is already sold out — and since applying for it disqualifies you from the Hoshi+Tori lottery, even that show’s obstructed-view seats vanished in an instant — while the Hoshi+Tori show still has tickets available as of this writing. Commenters split over what’s driving the lopsided demand, and over how to even judge singing quality (vocal overlay vs. lip-syncing) at a live show.

You guys talk big about being "Niji diehards" and "Liella diehards" (obsessive-fan slang, lit. "believers"), but turnout's nothing special.
2AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:25
Decent event — you can actually get in if you try.
4AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:53
Re: #2
If you also entered the lottery for the Hoshi+Tori show, you're disqualified from the Nijigasaki+Liella! one — on top of that it's one-show-only, and even the obstructed-view seats for that show sold out instantly. People who want to go simply can't.
32AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:33
Re: #28
Even granting that, having it play out exactly like Re: #4 describes — one show's obstructed-view seats gone in a flash while the other's still unsold — just isn't normal… I can only think Liella! is bigger than the organizers expected.
49AnonymousOct 5, 2026 16:58
Re: #4
That's a stretch, calling it a flat "can't go" — I call BS.
I got into every single show, both days.
3AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:38
Why'd they even pair Nijigasaki with Liella!? Think about the power balance — should've paired them with Hoshi+Tori.
8AnonymousOct 5, 2026 13:50
Re: #3
Pairing 1st with 4th and 2nd with 3rd is standard practice.
And with 104th-gen cast and the two EN (English dub) members appearing, of course a venue that size fills up without even trying.
5AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:59
Kind of sad that the vibe is just "eh, I'll skip Hoshi"…
Though I don't feel even a hint of "guess I'll go out of pity" either.
6AnonymousOct 5, 2026 13:37
This event was unnecessary to begin with, honestly.
7AnonymousOct 5, 2026 13:40
My bad, so did the "can't-breathe live" (5ch nickname mocking a notoriously packed SixTONES show) ever get noticed or not…?
Where'd that 10,000-strong army at Keio Arena Tokyo go…?
9AnonymousOct 5, 2026 13:52
Re: #7
Tori's just like Niji — it's a show where only the people who want to go wild at a live even bother watching.
The crowd manners at Tori's shows are the worst, come on.
10AnonymousOct 5, 2026 13:55
Get this, this guy's saying Riera-chan is only #2! Pika-san, please give him some "guidance"!
11AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:09
Given this pairing, of course fewer people are going to pick this side if they had a choice.
Or is the reasoning something like "we want people to switch over from Hoshi to Tori"?
12AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:13
Thing is, the "can't-breathe live" ended up getting discovered by Johnny's (Starto) fangirls.
14AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:14
Re: #12
They just noticed it exists — that doesn't mean they became fans of both.
13AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:13
Even if I grant that Hoshi is #2, how does #2 not sell out?
Wouldn't that mean there's a ridiculous gap between #1 and #2?
15AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:16
Re: #13
Day one is basically filled by Liella! alone.
If only 2-3 Liella! members were appearing, it'd have sold even less.
Do you even know who's performing?
17AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:20
Re: #15
I know that, but day two's Hoshi lineup is Date, Nagi, Suzuhara, and Yuina — it's not like they booked an unpopular slate.
So I'm asking why it's still not selling out.
21AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:22
Re: #15
Liella!'s lineup is basically the B-team.
The popular 102nd/103rd-gen members aren't even in it.
18AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:20
Honestly the "can't-breathe live" probably would've sold more on its own.
Feel bad for it just getting bundled with a debuff, basically.
19AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:22
It's turned into the Shin Ramyun on the instant-noodle shelf during a disaster-buying frenzy — the one brand that's always left behind.
22AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:24
Pairing #1 with #2 and then pairing #3 with #4 so the #3/#4 show goes begging for buyers — that's incompetence at its finest.
23AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:24
I'd bet there are plenty of people who can't catch Kouko at the main fest but figure they'll go if she's at the pre-festival show.
28AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:10
In terms of drawing power the ranking runs Nijigasaki > Liella! > Hoshi > Tori, so Niji+Liella! selling out while Hoshi+Tori has leftovers is exactly what you'd expect.
40AnonymousOct 5, 2026 16:33
If that level of performance is fine, then what was the point of every other group singing for real all this time?
Even Aqours, who leaned hard on vocal overlay (kabuse — backup/pre-recorded vocals layered over live singing) near the end, actually sang when they were young.
52AnonymousOct 5, 2026 17:12
Re: #40
Aqours was lip-syncing from the very start, come on.
42AnonymousOct 5, 2026 16:41
More to the point, Love Live! audiences don't actually factor vocal-overlay-or-not into how they rate a show.
44AnonymousOct 5, 2026 16:43
Re: #42
That's because nobody's actually listening to the singing.
If that's the standard, the other series might as well go full backup-track too —
that way Houmoto and Date could just dominate unopposed.
53AnonymousOct 5, 2026 17:13
Re: #52
They weren't lip-syncing back then —

55AnonymousOct 5, 2026 17:15
Re: #53
At the actual regular lives they've been lip-syncing since the 1st live.
61AnonymousOct 5, 2026 17:22
Nogizaka and K-pop idols are losing popularity while groups like =LOVE, Kawa Lab., iLife, and Juice=Juice are gaining ground —
and that's precisely because those groups actually sing instead of lip-syncing.
Current-day Love Live! is running dead against that real-life (3D) idol trend.
65AnonymousOct 5, 2026 17:36
Re: #61
Liella! is gaining popularity…? Since when?
67AnonymousOct 5, 2026 17:39
Re: #61
K-pop idols sing for real, you know.
And it's precisely because they do that they get torn apart for being tone-deaf at US festivals, setting off bragging-rights wars among fans.

The Sakamichi groups (Nogizaka/Hinatazaka/Sakurazaka) were never expected to actually sing well in the first place.
86AnonymousOct 5, 2026 18:04
Fans at the "can't-breathe live" were watching SixTONES' fireworks and stage effects going "whoa, amazing!"
Meanwhile over at Liella!, people like ID:GYfTkqXp were smugly going "heh, Liella!'s better than XX, isn't it~"

That's the difference, I think (dead serious).
89AnonymousOct 5, 2026 18:13
Re: #86
The "can't-breathe live" fans and the SixTONES stans were having this nice cross-cultural exchange over their shared ordeal of watching the show in a downpour, and then a Hoshi diehard barges in with a sly "how about bundling it with Supa Suta (shorthand for another show)" suggestion — I couldn't help but laugh at the nerve.
87AnonymousOct 5, 2026 18:05
Wasn't there someone with a Kanon avatar who was going all-out trying to pull in SixTONES fans?
Whatever happened with that, I wonder.
88AnonymousOct 5, 2026 18:06
Re: #87
The "can't-breathe live" act's Spotify listener count went up, while Liella!'s dropped like usual.
Isn't that the answer right there?

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The Love Live! franchise runs multiple units in parallel — Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Liella! (Hasunosora), and others — each differing in when it formed, its member lineup, and how deep its fanbase runs. In joint events like this pre-festival show, applications tend to pile up on whichever pairing features the most popular units, sending lottery odds through the roof, while the leftover pairing becomes easy to get tickets for. Within the thread, opinions split over whether this imbalance comes down to the popularity of the performing members and generational differences (102nd-gen, 103rd-gen, 104th-gen, etc.), or whether it reflects how the shows themselves are rated. The use of lip-syncing and vocal overlay (kabuse) at lives has also long been a point of contention, and this thread again divided over whether anyone is really listening to the singing at all. None of this amounts to confirmed fact — it should be read as a snapshot of how different fans perceive the same situation.
