The story
At live shows for the Hello! Project group Rosy Chronicle, a male fan has reportedly been spotted shouting a unique call of his own — “Hai-se-no!” — in place of the usual standard calls. According to a report on 5ch’s Hello! Project board, other fans nearby directly confronted him, telling him to “never say that again,” and a thread was started about it. The discussion went beyond whether his behavior was right or wrong, growing into a bigger debate about just how far fan-cheering traditions like MIX chants and calls should continue at shows today.
What people said
That 'Hai-se-no' yokai that started showing up at Shiodome yesterday (?) was back again today.
For some reason he skipped it during "Naji Ai" (a song nickname) and busted it out during some other song instead…
Let "Hai-se-no!" slide for the Ocha no Kitty-chan song too.
If not, you've got no right to lecture anyone else.
The sheer numbers are different though.
It's not like the old days when creative cheering culture used to spring up on its own.
Stuff like 'oi-oi,' 'fu-fu,' or just shouting names is plenty.
it's seriously just one guy saying it.
Go Rena-chan, nail that quiet breakdown chorus!!
And it's even worse when the idols themselves start lecturing fans with "here's how you say it here."
'Hai-se-no' and MIX are the best kind of culture precisely because even first-timers can join in and everyone feels united.
'8bit' is basically a song written for 'hai-se-no' and MIX.
I don't know what song they played at Shiodome, but I feel bad for Grandpa Hai-se-no.
You can hear "Hai-se-no!" at the start of Angerme's "Tsugi Tsugi Zokuzoku."
From home? lol
So that one's fine then?
That's basically MIX though.
Stuff like the 'ja-ja' call is just a self-indulgent wank-off call.
That's why I keep saying Rosy should switch to 'Yaaa!'
It's exactly because this is such an important stage in their career that I want to keep it clean and treat it with care.
Isn't that how everyone feels?
Or does everyone actually welcome it turning into an underground-idol-style scene?
They don't even give us the kind of fan interaction underground idols do, so no, I don't welcome it.
Otaku making noise instead of actually watching the idols isn't a 'culture' — I hate it.
I always figured they were just a bunch of DDs (fans who like lots of idols rather than being loyal to one).
The most militant fanbase in all of Hello! Project.
Background and Key Points of the Debate
MIX chants and calls are a fan-cheering tradition that took root at idol shows well beyond Hello! Project, developing over time as rhythmic accompaniment to songs. In recent years, however, there’s been a growing push to keep shows welcoming to first-time attendees, and that has made many fans less tolerant of calls and MIX chants with a strong, group-specific flavor. What made this case stand out is that ‘hai-se-no’ isn’t an official call or a widely established chant — it was reportedly being repeated by just one specific person. In the thread, opinions clashed head-on between those who feel calling culture itself should be protected and those who see it as a nuisance that alienates first-time fans, with no resolution in sight. It’s also worth noting that details like exactly which songs the call was used during were never confirmed within the thread — this whole debate stems from a single on-site sighting.
