Morning Musume ’26’s Morioka Show: Even the Matinee Leaves the 3rd Floor Nearly Empty — Low Turnout Sparks Buzz

From our other sites

The story

Seating information shared on 5ch revealed that at Morning Musume ’26’s Morioka concert, even the matinee show left empty seats all the way to the back of the 2nd floor, while the evening show hadn’t sold tickets close to the last rows of the 1st floor either. The thread also compared annual attendance figures, pointing out that while Juice=Juice is doing well, Morning Musume and ANGERME are struggling, sparking a wider discussion about the gap between Hello! Project’s internal pecking order and actual attendance numbers. It was also noted that the situation didn’t improve even on a tour that added new members.

Morioka matinee: general seating 2F Block C row 4, seats 29-30; family seating 2F Block L row 14, seats 3-4 (discounted "family seats" for parents with kids)
Morioka evening: general seating 1F row 20, seats 33-34; family seating 2F Block L row 3, seats 2-3
What are they gonna do about this lmaooo

Why is this happening even with a graduation tour and 4 new members added……

Re: #4
Someone please make an accurate sold-rate/capacity chart for Morning Musume.
Morning Musume and ANGERME are the only ones really not selling.
5AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:04
If it were Juice=Juice, it would've sold out.
If it were ANGERME, they wouldn't have even booked the venue.
7AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:05
There was a thread going around saying Morning Musume is amazing because they always pull a crowd no matter what… but
11AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:07
Re: #7
They're nowhere near sold out, actually.
8AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:06
Guess the fresh new-member hype didn't work after all.
9AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:06
Sapporo's even closing off seats starting from the 2nd floor, so this is actually the better case.
10AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:07
Morning Musume capacity: 150,000 ← rough

Juice=Juice capacity: 100,000 ← easy

ANGERME capacity: 90,000 ← rough
12AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:08
Next spring they should just dump all the secured venues on Juice=Juice and split the leftovers among the other groups.

Juice=Juice is the only one that can actually pull a real crowd.
15AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:11
Morning Musume's been closing off the upper floors and calling it 'sold out' for ages now.
This isn't news at this point.
16AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:11
How full does a venue need to be to break even?
24AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:13
Re: #16
80% of whatever portion is actually open for sale.
18AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:12
A regional live-house circuit tour is probably the right scale for Musume at this point.
19AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:12
ANGERME is even more empty than that.
20AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:12
I live in Morioka but had no idea Musume was coming.
Didn't know at all.
21AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:13
Did they usually fill up all the way to the 3rd floor?
25AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:13
Re: #21
It's always empty.
31AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:16
Still, the agency's so obsessed with the pecking order that they keep missing business opportunities, it's hopeless.

"Hello! Project is not allowed to outsell Morning Musume."

What a Showa-era mindset for a talent agency to have.
37AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:18
Re: #31
That's because Morning Musume books venues 1.5x the capacity of Juice=Juice.

Morning Musume capacity: 150,000 ← rough

Juice=Juice capacity: 100,000 ← easy

ANGERME capacity: 90,000 ← rough
36AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:17
Used to watch Hello! Project back in the day, so out of nostalgia I'd come to Morioka and grab cheap garbage seats, but I stopped once the anti-scalping rules kicked in.
38AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:18
Re: #36
Juice=Juice sells tickets at face value, but Morning Musume's fanbase is built on scalping from the start.
40AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:18
Yeah right~
There's no way Morning Musume — ranked #5 in the 2026 favorite female idol rankings — would have empty seats.
41AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:19
Morning Musume, losing to JJ (Juice=Juice) even without a graduation hype boost.
43AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:20
Re: #41
They're not losing.

Morning Musume capacity: 150,000 ← rough

Juice=Juice capacity: 100,000 ← easy

ANGERME capacity: 90,000 ← rough
44AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:20
Re: #41
It's kind of crazy that Juice=Juice's no-graduation shows draw more demand than other groups' graduation-hype marketing.
49AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:23
Guess the incompetent, hapless Up-Front Group is raking it in if they can keep bleeding losses on Musume and ANGERME and still carry on.
53AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:25
Re: #49
Juice=Juice makes insane money every single day, so they can afford to toss away 100 million yen in Kumamoto without blinking.
55AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:25
Thanks to Juice=Juice, people are hearing the term "Hello! Project" more often these days, but Hello! Project itself is exactly the type to fumble that opportunity.
57AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:26
Re: #55
Because they funneled all the talent into Juice=Juice and nowhere else.
59AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:28
There are former Morning Musume fans scattered all across Japan,
so they need to tour Hokkaido, Tohoku, Hokuriku, and Shikoku.
If they don't, Hello! Project itself will be forgotten by that whole demographic.
61AnonymousOct 3, 2026 12:33
Re: #59
That demographic isn't the type to show up to current shows just out of nostalgia though.

The result of handing ANGERME the Forest Hall two seasons running

The 1st floor ended up thinned out in patches like this
It sucks, but it's the truth

Still, this turnout is worrying in a lot of ways

Looking at the empty seats on the 2nd floor and above at today's ANGERME show, I really felt that Juice=Juice's "packed house" effect still hasn't spread to Hello! Project as a whole. This is Nagoya, the cursed venue where even °C-ute at their peak couldn't fill this same Forest Hall, and Mai Yajima cried tears of frustration during the MC. How to fill this venue is actually a pretty important question.

ANGERME's autumn tour "Fūrinkazan" was way too good. The current lineup's ANGERME is strong and way too cool. Such a waste that seats from row 3-4 on the 2nd floor and further back were empty.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

As of 2026, Hello! Project runs several groups in parallel — Morning Musume ’26, Juice=Juice, ANGERME, Country Girls, and others — with each group’s tour venue size and number of shows decided by the agency. Note that figures raised in the thread, such as “Nogizaka46’s 2026 turnout of 500,000,” are unverified numbers posted on 5ch, not official published statistics. The discussion centered on the mismatch between the agency’s apparent obsession with maintaining a strict “pecking order” among groups — continuing to book large venues for groups with weak turnout — and the reality that even adding new members failed to boost attendance. Meanwhile, some see Juice=Juice’s strength as coming from steadily building popularity without relying on graduation-driven marketing.
