The story
The new “Fire Emblem: Thousand Blossoms” earned a perfect score from Atomix, a notoriously harsh review site that has awarded full marks to only 18 of roughly 1,400 games it has reviewed, sparking claims on social media overseas that it’s “Nintendo’s best game in decades.” The game also topped domestic Metacritic scores across the board, fueling further buzz — but reactions on 5ch’s “Hardware/Industry” (Geha) board were split. Players still early in the game voiced complaints like “I can’t forgive them for removing stat-grinding” and “the exploration segments are just stressful,” so the praise wasn’t universal.

Reda swears vengeance for her family.
Theodora, after centuries of hardship and discrimination, is determined to see her homeland finally get the recognition it deserves.
Dietrich longs to throw himself into slaughter.
Kai just wants time with his family.
All of them converge on the capital, Dagusion, drawn by the Hero's Tournament and the chance to have their deepest wish granted if they win.
Even if you start a thread like this, one look at the gameplay footage and anyone can tell it's shovelware for creepy otaku. You think copy-pasted walls of text and short bump posts from constantly rotating IDs (sockpuppeting) are going to change that? Stop flooding the log, it's obnoxious.
Are you only following industry shills on your X?
The thing I can't forgive most is that they removed stat-grinding (save-scumming level-ups to min-max stats).
The prologue story makes no sense either, and the exploration stuff is just stress.
An FE game without stat-grinding isn't FE.
So frustrating!!
I know!
Let's play Wolverine instead!
…yeah, that's not happening lol
It's just an action game with damage-sponge enemies
Even more stress than this
Umm…
You think they're playing it starting on release day and reviewing it that fast…?
Come on, they're not idiots…
Outlets can't post a Metacritic score without clearing the game at least once.
And on top of that, every major outlet overseas gave FE: Thousand Blossoms a perfect 100.
Wolverine
Metacritic 'betrayal,' the Genshin backlash, and Sweet Baby's Wolverine — run through those three steps and boom, an FE hater is born!!
Quick Battles are empty, no fun at all.
I just want to play the tactics part, but the Quick Battles, dungeons, and home base are all a slog.
Even the tactics maps feel phoned in.
And support conversations are gated behind Engage levels.
What even is this?
'What even is this' — sounds like you haven't actually played it.
Though Metascores haven't been trustworthy for a while anyway.
That's because it's nerds doing the reviewing.
I'm not saying they need to finish it, but I'd like to know how many hours they actually put in.
10 hours in an action game and 10 hours in a tactics RPG are completely different things.
It says 120 hours right there.
It just simply means the best entry in the series.

They gave Death Stranding a perfect 100 and instantly lost all credibility.
Funny to think that a week ago everyone was praising Kojima to the skies 🤣
This game has so much content that I doubt anyone playing it has gotten far enough to really talk about it.
Even by chapter 5 or 6 you've barely been able to scout anyone.
I figured Renown would climb fast, but it barely moves at all.
There's no way you can scout anyone before the first match, right?
Sounds like someone who hasn't played it — you can skip all of that.
Background and Key Points of This Debate
The Fire Emblem series has traditionally embraced “stat-grinding” — save-scumming level-ups via save-and-reload to push character growth toward ideal stats — as a staple way to play, and the fact that this new entry restricts that freedom is part of why longtime fans are pushing back. At the same time, the fact that Atomix, a notoriously harsh site that has given a perfect score to only 18 of roughly 1,400 games it has reviewed, awarded this game full marks is being treated as compelling evidence of quality, though it also sparked debate in the thread over the site’s credibility (some pointed to its earlier perfect score for Death Stranding as grounds for skepticism). That said, it’s worth noting that a tactics RPG is hard to fully judge from a short play session right after launch — differences in how far people have progressed, from “still early on” to “120 hours in,” appear to be driving much of the disagreement. It’s also worth noting the game was developed not by Nintendo itself but by Intelligent Systems, a point some posters seemed to misunderstand.
