I get that Switch 1 games run smoother on it, but I've never once been unhappy with Switch 1's performance.
I don't play anything that needs that kind of power, and my Switch 1 shows no sign of dying anytime soon.
Ninety percent of the country can't just buy one "anytime" though.

Honestly I've been going back and forth on whether to buy it ever since the Switch 2 was announced, and I still haven't — but I'm just tired of going back and forth. At this rate the Switch 2 is going to live rent-free in my head until the Switch 3 comes out. Though I still might not buy it even then.
I'm wary because by then it'll probably have gone up in price even more. Sure, I'd want it if a good game comes out, but whether that happens is a gamble.

With the 3DS, I didn't have a game I wanted either, but since it was backward-compatible with DS games and my DS was falling apart, I bought it once it dropped to ¥15,000. This time it's ¥60,000 though, so…

There were plenty of games I wanted on Switch 1, so I bought it without hesitation.
Switch 2's exclusive lineup is way too thin — I wish it would take a page from Switch 1's book.
Retro games and Momotaro Dentetsu (a long-running Japanese board-game video game series) are fine on the old Switch 😁
