“Still Stan-Worthy as a Mom” Ranking of Ex-AKB48 Members: Who Overtook Tomomi Itano for the Top Spot?

The story

A thread went up on 5ch’s Geinou/Sports Express+ board introducing a ranking of “ex-AKB48 members you can still stan even as a mom.” Billed as an in-house survey of 100 mothers in their 20s to 40s, the list included names like Tomomi Itano, Mariko Shinoda, and Tomomi Kasai — but commenters quickly questioned the tiny sample size and the murky criteria behind the picks. The thread filled up with people listing former members who now have kids, and also lit up with chatter about the personal lives of Yuko Oshima and Yuki Kashiwagi.

Ex-AKB48 member Tomomi Itano is at the center of controversy on social media over a YouTube filming session at a luxury hotel.

It started with a family trip video to Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, that Itano posted to her YouTube channel on September 3, which included a scene of her drying her daughter’s hair in the changing area of the Ritz-Carlton Nikko.

Given the sensitivity of the location, criticism poured in over the lack of consideration, prompting Itano to explain on social media that “we filmed with special permission.”

■ "Ex-AKB48 you can still stan as a mom" ranking

No such thing exists.
Nobody is stan-worthy.
Please stop treating this as established fact.

Don't start a thread over something like this!

Re: #15
Manaka Tada's husband Koki Yamaguchi has been doing great this year, so she seems to be good luck for him (an "age-man" — a woman who brings her partner good fortune)

3 out of 100 people saying they can still stan Itano — that's actually impressive lol

That's probably just 3 of Itano's relatives lol

Yukirin: "Hey, Suga-chan! When the heck are you gonna propose already?
You'd better not be planning to use me and run off!"

Re: #27
Knowing how much Kashiwagi loves ego-searching herself, she's definitely peeking at this thread too, so don't reply too seriously lol

Re: #10
Yuki Kashiwagi really needs to marry Suga-chan soon and become a "mom talent," or her solo career is going to hit a wall.
Actually, she's already 35, so if she lets Suga-chan slip away and gets used and dumped, that's no laughing matter.

Did Oshima have some kind of scandal?

My strongest memory of Yuko Oshima is her snapping straight into the camera on some NHK show or other, like "Hey! Takamina! Don't you dare skip out claiming you're not feeling well, cut the crap!"

Re: #68
Back in her idol days, that #6-ranked Kasai girl was fighting over the guy who founded AKB with Shinoda — who did she end up marrying in the end?
She hasn't appeared in the media at all lately, so we don't even know if she's since divorced
71AnonymousSep 15, 2026 14:40
What's with this "stan-worthy even as a mom" thing lol
For human society to run smoothly, the moment someone you like becomes a mom, you've gotta immediately shift your interest to a fresh non-mom, right?

Well, on this side we're sometimes dads or even grandpas too, so…

Background and Key Points of This Topic

AKB48 was formed in 2005 and peaked in popularity in the early 2010s; many of the core members from that era are now in their 30s and have gone on to marry and have children. The “in-house research” that sparked this discussion was a small-scale survey of just 100 respondents, without the statistical backing of a major media opinion poll. The debate in the thread centered mainly on the survey’s credibility, with comments like “the sample size is way too small” and “the basis for the ranking is unclear” standing out — while at the same time a separate trend emerged of users listing former members who now have children. Note that the thread also contained posts about certain members’ personal lives and relationships that could not be verified, which have been excluded from this article due to their unconfirmed nature.
