The story
On 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (Geha) board, users are buzzing about a string of third-party titles once thought to be off the table for Switch 2 that keep getting ported anyway. Examples cited include Street Fighter 6, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2, and Resident Evil Requiem, with posters also pointing to Hogwarts Legacy — once assumed to be a “no Switch” game — which ended up getting ported after all. On the other hand, Konami’s new title “Rev. NOiR” and Like a Dragon Studio’s new game “STRANGER THAN HEAVEN” have both skipped a Switch 2 release, and opinions in the thread were split on which titles will or won’t get ported from here on out.
What people said
Dragon's Dogma 2 and FF7 Remake Part 2 are coming after all… what now, Nintendo fanboy ("Nishi-kun," a mocking nickname for Nintendo diehards)? Guess you'll just have to seethe for now?
[Sad news] Resident Evil Requiem also snubs Switch
Rinkane's port (nickname for a certain title) was so underwhelming people just pretend it never happened
Hogwarts Legacy was the same — people made a fuss about it being snubbed on Switch, and it ended up getting ported anyway
You could say that's when the tide turned
>it's honestly kind of funny how pretty much everything except GTA6 is showing up now
I bet GTA6 will show up eventually too. Switch2's basically becoming the only platform that can put out a proper physical release, physical is the only real option for kids buying games, and honestly Switch2's probably going to be the only console kids are even buying going forward.
Everyone said both were impossible to bring to Switch2 given its hardware
Sure, Stellar Blade's hair turns into a pixelated mess during combat,
but that just proves that if you're willing to let DLSS paper over stuff like that, a port is doable
Everything about Hogwarts Legacy's saga is wild
They forgot to even make a thread for it, then hyped it up, then dropped their PlayStation-only stance that same day

Today's State of Play — not even a thread for [Hogwarts Legacy]

Yep, Hogwarts Legacy's trending now lol, nothing Switch-related though

Turns out Hogwarts Legacy is releasing on Switch too

Truly a boomerang god (their own words coming back to bite them)
That would just leave Resident Evil Requiem then
Though, well, Mr. Piggy (a mocking nickname for Switch fans) didn't buy it anyway
The moment it releases on a Nintendo platform, that's already a loss
Total loser
Who's gonna buy Resident Evil 9 if it just suddenly gets ported lolol
What actually matters is how the general public who assumed it was PS-exclusive reacts from here
That's obviously going to affect which console they pick up lolololol
And if it's Konami, Silent Hill and Ace Combat are probably fine to count on too, for now
For some reason nobody's biting on the Silent Hill game coming out this month, but everyone's all over Shine Post
Even though people went nuts for the previous entry, Silent Hill f
Probably these, most recently? Persona 4 Remake and Persona 6 got brought up recently too, but those obviously ended up on Switch
Switch2 snubs Konami's new title 'Rev. NOiR' — reportedly a massive 100GB RPG

[Breaking] Like a Dragon Studio's new game 'STRANGER THAN HEAVEN' snubs Switch2 lol

Guess that means they'd better not release Chiikawa (a hugely popular cutesy character franchise with plenty of adult fans) on Switch then

What was that about toddler games again?
Did it really manage to top FF16…?

Honestly, as things stand Switch2 doesn't have enough going for it to talk trash about PS5
Yeah, that's probably how it looks if you're not really into games
It's easy to carry around
You can all bring it and play together
You can't play GTA or Ocarina of Time on PC
And saying 'GTA's coming eventually!' doesn't mean much when we're talking about right now
Once you're an adult, nobody actually gets together to play like that anymore
How long is Mr. Piggy going to keep chasing a childhood dream he never got to live out?
So you're saying the Switch2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds, since you can bring it and play together, will outsell the PS5 version?
Not interested in GTA
I do plan on playing Ocarina of Time, but I've already played it before so I'm not that hyped for it
The fact that you even have the option to play it is already a massive advantage lol
Not interested in hearing from someone who barely cares about the big hit titles
If it's just your personal opinion, go post it on social media
Wait, it won't sell?
Even though you can bring it and play together?
After all that nonstop bad press for so long, if it actually outsold the launch version that'd basically be fraud, brainwashing, or the publisher buying up its own stock
No way that happens
Guess there's no real benefit to being able to bring it and play together after all
There is a benefit — that's exactly why third-party publishers who flopped are clinging to it. Were you even listening?
You really want it to not exist, huh
Guess you were too poor as a kid to trade or battle Pokémon on your Game Boy with friends?
Huh?
But by Mr. Piggy's own argument, the 'bring it and play together' version of Wilds won't sell, right?
That means you're admitting there's no real benefit to playing together after all
That's just marketing aimed at the minority who actually play together, right?
And by Mr. Piggy's own logic it won't sell, so that makes it pointless marketing
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
Switch2 was initially seen as too underpowered compared to consoles like the PS5 to handle ports of major third-party titles, but more and more games are making the jump thanks to techniques like DLSS that ease the rendering load. Hogwarts Legacy set an early precedent: before Switch2 was even announced, it was once declared “impossible to port,” only to end up releasing there anyway — and the thread repeatedly cited that history. Separately, 5ch has its own slang term, “hub,” for titles that get left off a platform’s release lineup, with new games from Konami and Sega cited as examples. What the thread touches on less is that whether a port happens depends not just on hardware performance but on a publisher’s own profitability calculations. Note also that the “🐷” (pig emoji) used in the thread is a nickname specific to 5ch’s hardware/industry board — it’s board-specific ribbing, not an attack on any real individual.
