Rival Groups Blow Up During Juice=Juice’s Big Push, Sparking a Fan Feud — Hello! Project Board: ‘Pay It Back!’

From our other sites

The story

On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, where H!P fans gather, a debate broke out after BEYOOOOONDS’ new music video and CUTIE STREET’s live footage both blew up at the same time — right when the spotlight was supposed to be on Juice=Juice. Some posters, noting that Juice=Juice’s past viral moments helped boost other groups’ visibility, grumbled ‘time to return the favor,’ while others countered that growing the overall fanbase benefits everyone. Opinions also split over whether YouTube’s Trending rankings and view-count breakdowns really count as ‘proof of popularity,’ turning it into a debate that simple number-crunching can’t settle.

During the time we're supposed to be pushing Juice hard like crazy…

Morning Musume's the one actually getting shortchanged, honestly.
One Tsunku♂ (H!P's famed producer) song a year ← Juice doesn't even get Tsunku songs

Weak lineup too ← Juice is stacked with great members

If Juice got treated like Morning Musume, it never would've gone viral

Re: #7
If lineup quality counts as part of the 'treatment,' then couldn't you argue there's a parallel universe where the members currently in Morning Musume wouldn't even have been cast?
9AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:31
Do you have any idea how much help Hello! Project fans gave to hype up Juice?
Pay it back already.
10AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:32
Re: #9
Most of those people were just sneering at it.
It was Juice fans and newcomers who built that up from scratch.
16AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:36
It's been over a year since the viral 'Moremi' clip (fan nickname for the Harami-chan × Juice=Juice collab video), and they still haven't even hit K Arena.
There's no point riding that wave forever.
Time moves on mercilessly, so they need to move forward.
27AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:50
Re: #16
They haven't even attempted it yet, though.
21AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:40
It's not really about Juice specifically, but you do wonder what pushing this actually accomplishes.
Put that same energy into promoting the new single instead.

Re: #21
Exactly!
That's the crux of it.

Lol, total favoritism toward Juice

26AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:48
'Hai to Diamond' (Ash to Diamond) got hyped up mainly by the members, their managers, and fans (not some agency-wide push) — all they did was drop the Yokohama Arena live footage as part of the job.
Getting this worked up about it is just unhinged.
29AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:51
Re: #26
But BEYOO fans were just as worked up over the 'Moremi' clip, so it goes both ways.

Monaki → 'Honma Yade' goes viral → new single flops 2 months later

Milk → 'Sukisugite Metsu (Loving You Too Much It's Destruction)' goes viral → 'Bakuretsu Aishiteru (Explosively In Love)' also goes viral 4 months later

Juice → the 'Moremi' clip goes viral → new single flops 9 months later

Re: #31
Which Juice single flopped, exactly?
Are you just making that up?
36AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:57
Re: #33
The 'Kurakura' stuff.
38AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:57
Re: #36
It didn't flop.
There isn't even an MV for it in the first place.
40AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:58
Re: #38
Uh… wasn't that a total flop though?
53AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:04
Re: #38
That whatchamacallit-Bullet song flopped too.
41AnonymousSep 8, 2026 09:58
There are actually quite a few comments on the 'Hai to' MV along the lines of ^_^ 'I'm a Juice fan but I love this song' — honestly I think almost all Juice fans are good people.
49AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:02
Re: #41
There isn't a single Angerme fan in those comments, so it's pretty transparent jealousy.
45AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:00
It's a synergy effect.
Just like people found their way to BEYOO through Juice as a gateway,
it'd be great if BEYOO became the gateway that spreads interest to other groups too.
59AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:07
Re: #45
That's a nice vision for the future.
47AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:01
Re: #40
・3.55 million — 'Kurakura☆Climax' live video

・340,000 — 'Vanilla' live video
・430,000 — 'Vanilla' MV
・310,000 — 'Vanilla' dance-practice video
・40,000 — 'Vanilla' MV watch party
→ Total: 1.12 million

And that's why I'm calling 'Vanilla' — the copycat rehash of the 'Moremi' clip — a massive flop lol
48AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:02
Re: #47
They're both trash.
52AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:04
Re: #47
The fact that you're even comparing it to Angerme just proves it can't compete outside the H!P bubble.
54AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:04
'Kurakura☆Climax' got more views on Venue101's YouTube video than CUTIE STREET's latest single did, so I think it's fair to call it a hit.
62AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:08
Re: #54
The thing is, Juice fans' viewing habits skew 'low quality.'
Even the Harami-chan × Juice 'Moremi' clip
had viewing quality so poor it never made Trending.

NHK actually tracks that stuff — like how many seconds people watched, etc.
67AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:09
Re: #62
Trending isn't a chart that only ranks 'high-quality' videos.
When BEYOOOOONDS dropped all three MVs for their major debut single at once, the one that ranked highest on Trending was actually the one with the fewest views.

Re: #52
This is the Idol Wolf board (5ch's female-idol board) — of course we're talking about Hello! Project here lol
60AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:07
Re: #55
Whether something's a 'flop' or not isn't something you measure purely within Hello! Project, is it?
56AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:06
Does racking up YouTube views get you on TV?
57AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:06
Re: #56
For Juice=Juice, the YouTube video is footage of them appearing on TV.
74AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:11
Re: #56
If you break 100 million views, you'd probably get on TV.
64AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:08
Re: #54
Cutie St.'s numbers are just as much of a flop.
68AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:09
Re: #64
If we're comparing flops, Juice=Juice still comes out ahead.
71AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:10
Re: #64
Yeah, honestly that song hasn't become a talking point at all.
70AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:10
Re: #67
Then why didn't the Harami × Juice video make Trending?
The Harami-chan channel doesn't usually get that many views anyway.
73AnonymousSep 8, 2026 10:11
Re: #70
Like I said, Trending itself isn't a chart you should take at face value, so it's not worth worrying about.

Background and Key Points of This Debate

Because Hello! Project operates by having each group take turns releasing new singles and live footage, fans naturally develop a sense of whose ‘turn to shine’ it is. This time, fan frustration boiled over because BEYOOOOONDS’ new MV release and CUTIE STREET’s live-video view counts both became talking points during what was supposed to be Juice=Juice’s moment in the spotlight — leaving some fans feeling shortchanged. The debate centers on whether YouTube’s Trending rankings and the breakdown of view counts can really be treated as ‘proof of popularity,’ and posters are split on what standard to judge that by. It’s a common misconception that making Trending hinges purely on how fast a video is watched, and doesn’t necessarily line up with total view count or viewing quality. There’s also a rift between fans who point out that Juice=Juice’s past viral moments helped raise BEYOOOOONDS’ profile and are now demanding that favor be ‘returned,’ and those who see fanbase growth as a two-way synergy that benefits everyone.
