Famitsu’s Onimusha Article Omits Switch 2 from Platform List — 5ch Users Cry ‘Deliberate’

The story

A post claiming that the platform-icon lineup in Famitsu’s September 10 issue feature on “Onimusha” doesn’t include a Switch 2 icon became a hot topic on the game hardware (ゲハ) board. While some in the thread suspected “they must be deliberately leaving Switch 2 out,” others countered that “since the Switch 2 version was announced later, they probably just forgot to add the icon — the text listing is still there,” splitting opinion between intentional exclusion and a simple mistake. The thread also notes that a Switch 2 version product page can in fact be found on the Nintendo eShop.

I read Famitsu's Onimusha article, and yeah, Switch 2 wasn't in the platform list. Deliberate, maybe?
This is the September 10 issue.

Re: #11
Checked the Kindle edition — yep, it's true.
11AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:58
They're doing this again, huh
35AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:06
Re: #2
It was added later, so they just forgot to slap the icon on — the text's still there
3AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:56
Famitsu, are you seriously still calling yourself a news magazine?
7AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:57
What were the writer and the final checker even doing?
9AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:57
Just shut the magazine down already, Nintendo Direct is all we need
12AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:58
Is Capcom some kind of traitor to Famitsu now?
13AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:58
Honestly we should be grateful
Garbage media like this is exactly why Nintendo Direct was born

Re: #13
Exactly right
It's a beautiful thing
when garbage gets recognized as garbage
14AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:59
Still pulling this garbage, huh
A 'mochi shop' (i.e., a supposed expert — from the saying 餅は餅屋, "leave it to the pros") that can't even sell mochi properly is worthless
15AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:59
It's scary that they don't even realize they're getting paid off Nintendo-related articles
16AnonymousSep 3, 2026 19:59
For some reason they left it out of the compatible-platforms list on the left so it looks like it's not even there, lol
Is this what a news magazine looks like?

Re: #16
It's the Sponichi (a Japanese tabloid known for sloppy, sensational reporting) of the gaming industry
17AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:00
Just labeling it 'PC' is vague, isn't it
There's Steam, Epic, and MS versions, and you can't tell which one they mean
18AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:01
Of course it's deliberate
Whatever the actual facts are, given their track record it's fair to assume it's intentional
21AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:02
Nobody even reads it anymore, so who cares about this outlet
22AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:02
They've never once 'accidentally' left out PlayStation lol
It's gotta be deliberate lol
23AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:02
Goki-musha (a mocking pun combining 'Onimusha' with 'goki,' a slur for PlayStation fanboys) is the worst (´・ω・`)
24AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:02
They wrote up a whole comment every single time PS5 sales climbed by another million, but when Switch 2 passed 6 million units they just ignored it
25AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:02
Of course the Switch 2 version is coming out
they're just listing the other platforms it releases on
26AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:03
It's 30fps, so of course that's how it goes
34AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:06
Re: #26
GTA talk is off-topic here
27AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:03
Given how Famitsu's quality is these days, it honestly might just be a careless mistake
39AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:08
Can't believe they're still making mistakes like this
45AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:11
Re: #39
It happens pretty often with Nintendo hardware
but it's never once happened with PlayStation
54AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:17
Nobody's buying Onimusha on the underpowered Switch 2 anyway, so who cares
You'd normally play it on PC
I'm running it on my custom-built RTX 4090 rig
60AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:20
Re: #54
I want to play lying down, so Switch 2 it is for me
Building your own PC is way too nerdy lol
56AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:18
You could excuse it by saying the info was outdated since the Switch 2 version was announced later than the other platforms
57AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:19
Re: #56
It's written further down though
61AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:20
Nintendo made them scrub Sony's name off MGS4 too, so it's only fair — they're even
62AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:21
Re: #61
Even if Konami's side just unilaterally kowtowed on their own, that's still creepy
69AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:26
71AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:29
Of course they don't want to feature some massively downgraded version running variable 30fps with objects getting culled left and right
89AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:43
Re: #71
Why are you suddenly trash-talking GTA6?
82AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:34
Wait, is the Switch 2 version of Onimusha not even coming out?
I was planning to buy the Premium Deluxe Edition
85AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:37
Re: #82
It's coming out

The Premium-whatever edition too

87AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:40
Maybe deep down they hate having to tally up Nintendo game sales every week too
Once PlayStation drops physical packages for good, they'll probably scrap the rankings altogether
88AnonymousSep 3, 2026 20:41
Re: #87
Whether they like it or not, there's nothing they can do about PlayStation software just not selling

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

What sparked this thread was a claim that gaming magazine Famitsu, in an article introducing “Onimusha,” left the Switch 2 icon out of its list of compatible-platform icons. On the hardware/industry (ゲハ) board, there’s a long-running undercurrent of frustration with how Famitsu handles Nintendo hardware coverage, and this incident quickly fed into the view that “this has to be deliberate.” That said, some posters in the thread pointed out that because the Switch 2 version was announced later than the other platforms, the icon list simply hadn’t been updated yet — even though the text listing itself was present — leaving open the possibility that it was a simple oversight. It’s also worth noting that a Switch 2 version product page can indeed be found on the Nintendo eShop, so this is easy to misread as the release itself being in doubt, which it isn’t. On the whole, this is a familiar type of thread for the board — a mix of distrust toward how media outlets treat different platforms and the usual rivalry between console fanbases.

*This article is compiled as an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Hardware/Industry (ゲハ)) thread “[Sad News] Famitsu, for some reason, doesn’t include Switch 2 in Onimusha’s platform list.”
