Murata Yui: “I’m Watching the Previews for Every Single Music Show” — 5ch: “Of Course She Wants In”

From our other sites

The story

Murata Yui of Hello! Project’s Tsubaki Factory wrote on her blog that she’s “been watching the previews for every single music show lately,” revealing she’s hoping her own group will land a booking. That same day, Juice=Juice appeared on CDTV performing “Moretemiamore” (盛れ!ミ・アモーレ), and on 5ch her post sparked both the observation that “she’d surely be told about a booking by staff in advance” and debate over the exposure gap with Juice=Juice. Reactions split between those who read it as a simple wish and those who read it as tinged with sarcasm.

8(ya)3(sa)1(i)! — Murata Yui (a numeral pun on today’s date, 8/31, that spells “yasai,” meaning “vegetable”)

Normally you'd hear from staff about a booking days before the on-air preview even airs, right?

Re: #5
That's literally what it says…

Re: #7
Stuff like that gets announced out of nowhere, without even the members being told, so you've got to keep checking every music show just in case.
Though the agency must know already, since they're the ones letting the footage be used.

The "I haven't even watched the actual show" flex.
The "shows I could get booked on myself aren't even on my radar" flex.

Re: #8
Casually disrespectful toward every single show's staff at once.
33AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:22
Re: #8
She's literally watching CDTV.
Read it properly.

Re: #8
Today Juice=Juice was on the show
I watched CDTV live! ❤️‍🔥
No matter how many times I watch "Moretemiamore,"
it's the coolest thing ever ✨
30AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:22
Honestly, if they actually pushed Tsubaki or OCHA NORMA, they'd totally sell.
36AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:25
Re: #33
She probably watched the full CDTV episode because Juice=Juice was on, but for every other music show — and even CDTV itself outside of this one time — isn't she probably just watching the previews?
40AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:26
Re: #36
Now she's getting dragged based on pure speculation lol
46AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:27
Re: #36
Well, it's physically impossible to watch every single music show from start to finish.
44AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:27
To protect the "Hello! Project = actually talented" reputation that Juice=Juice built up,
groups with a tone-deaf member just can't be put on TV.
50AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:28
Re: #44
There's no such reputation lol
Only Hello Project fans think they're that impressive lol
49AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:28
Re: #34
@
While watching CDTV, my family said "this song again? Is 'Moretemiamore' seriously the only thing Juice=Juice has?" and I just went… oh. Fans are just grateful and impressed they even get on terrestrial TV, but maybe non-fans are already sick of it? ;;

X's news today: "Juice=Juice's passionate performance of 'Moretemiamore' on CDTV gets a huge response"

Re: #49
Guess the song's actually getting recognized.
51AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:28
So Hello Project members really do want to be on prime-time music shows — late-night slots leave them unsatisfied.
57AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:29
Re: #51
Well, obviously.
Wanting to be on music shows, wanting to play bigger venues — that's just natural.
59AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:30
Re: #51
Even Buzz Rhythm never had Juice=Juice on even once before "Moretemiamore" — so Murata's asking for a lot.
52AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:28
Re: #46
Then she shouldn't have said "every single one."
62AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:31
Re: #52
You can say you "watch the previews for every music show" without ever watching the shows themselves though.
60AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:30
These days, getting on a music show is just proof you've already made it —
it's not something you do in order to make it.
65AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:31
Re: #60
Once everything became reverse-imported from the internet, the whole "forced pushing" culture disappeared.
Hello Project groups never had the numbers, so that culture survived there until last year — but now that Juice=Juice actually has the numbers, it's over for Hello Project too.
61AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:30
Yonemura said: "Juice=Juice is the group that gets people saying, 'Oh, Hello! Project members can actually sing well' and 'dance well.'"

Meanwhile Morning Musume and Angerme's position is… lol
64AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:31
Re: #61
Only Hello Project fans say stuff like that.
Nobody thinks they're that good at that level.
78AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:37
Re: #61
Kirara's brutally honest lol — Morning Musume and Angerme aren't even on her radar.
118AnonymousSep 1, 2026 11:27
Re: #61
Yonemura even said on Girls Live that she wanted to join Juice=Juice, and she's been partial to them since her trainee days, so she's not exactly neutral on this.
She's always rated Hello Project through a pro-Juice=Juice lens.
92AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:49
Re: #65
Music shows just feature the same members every time and nobody's actually watching.
People just catch whatever clip goes viral through illegal uploads and call it a day.
98AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:52
Re: #92
The only new faces this year are Monaki and Juice=Juice.
The "blow up online, then break onto TV" route is basically dying out.
But old-school forced pushing doesn't build recognition either, so it's pretty much a dead end.
About the only thing worth watching in Japanese music going forward is whether iLiFE gets on TV starting next year (or late this year?).
99AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:53
There's more chance of Juice=Juice blowing up and pulling everyone else up with them than of Tsubaki rising on their own.
But fans dragging each other down out of jealousy is exactly why nobody in Hello Project ever gets to rise together.
102AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:55
Re: #99
I heard some low-tier guitar duo under EBiDAN drew such a crowd at a release event that they had to cancel the mini-live — makes me wish something like that could happen in Hello Project too, centered on Juice=Juice.
100AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:53
Everyone, calm down.
Of course she got the schedule sheet from the agency way ahead of time.
The company's having her say this —
it's a "look, even the young ones watch TV" PR move.
103AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:56
Re: #100
Yuu already wrote that she knows she'd be told in advance — what are you even talking about?
104AnonymousSep 1, 2026 10:56
Re: #100
Read the whole thing before replying.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

In the entertainment industry, it’s generally standard for talent to be told about a music show booking by their agency or staff well before ever finding out from an on-air preview right before broadcast. That point was raised early in the thread, and the prevailing reading was that Murata’s post was simply an expression of hope from a fan’s-eye view. The real point of contention was the exposure gap between groups within Hello! Project: many posts shared the view that Tsubaki Factory gets far fewer TV appearances than Juice=Juice, who made headlines with their CDTV appearance, but opinions split over whether that gap comes down to a difference in “skill” or simply a difference in the agency’s promotion strategy. There was also a divide between a cynical view that treats the anticipatory post itself as promotional “posturing,” and a more sympathetic view that reads it as genuine fan service — reflecting the differing temperatures among fans themselves over how to interpret an idol’s social media posts.
