New ¥270,000 Gaming PC Sparks Spec Debate — 5ch: ‘This PC Is Trash, But…’

From our other sites

The story

A thread about a new gaming PC priced around ¥270,000 blew up on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (Geha) board. The thread title goaded readers with “the Switch 2 is finished,” but replies quickly turned to complaints about the high price and the specs — the bundled GPU is in the RTX 5060 family with only 8GB of video memory (VRAM). At the same time, comparisons to the PS5 and talk of generational gaps in upscaling tech like DLSS sparked debate, with some arguing “the PC market is far bigger than the Switch 2’s” — so opinion never settled into a single verdict.

Beautiful.
2AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:11
Can ¥270,000 really compete with the Switch 2?
3AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:12
Re: #2
Go work for like a month (and you could afford it).
7AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:15
Re: #2
The PC market is way bigger than Switch 2's, you know.
Though yeah, this particular PC is trash.
12AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:17
Re: #2
Of course it ends up like that if you max out every high-end option.
Just go with the cheapest config.
6AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:15
Back in the day you could get this spec for ¥150,000.
13AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:17
Re: #6
Yeah, that was about right two years ago.
Hard to recommend PCs these days.
9AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:16
Re: #3
You think it'll sell like 20,000 units a week?
11AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:17
Re: #9
Do Nintendo fanboys ("buta," lit. "pigs" — derogatory 5ch slang for Switch fans) actually think the Switch 2 is beating PC?
20AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:21
Not even good-looking, and with a 5060 it's only really in PS5-rival territory.
77AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:23
Re: #20
The 5060 puts out 19 TFLOPS — double the PS5's. Even the PS5 Pro loses badly lol
23AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:22
Re: #1
Kinda looks like Showa-era furniture.
27AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:24
Re: #23
Yeah, those old Showa-era TVs on legs had that same furniture-like look.
29AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:25
Re: #20
Even this junk PC has specs the PS5 can't keep up with.
32AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:31
Re: #29
That's basically a rounding error at this point.
35AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:33
Re: #32
You're dreaming too hard about the PS5.
51AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:41
Re: #32
"A rounding error against something above you, a huge gap against something below you" — such an easy brag to call out.
31AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:29
If I'm buying this, I'd rather just get a PS5 (´・ω・`)
33AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:31
Re: #31
Wait, you haven't even bought a PS5!?
You're just picking PS5 over a gaming PC hypothetically —
turns out you don't actually own one.
Can't believe people like that exist.
You're no gamer.
36AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:33
Re: #32
No way.
Do you know how many generations behind it is?
It even gets the latest DLSS —
meanwhile all you've got is some inferior knockoff upscaler that's not in the same league.

Apparently little 5060-chan can do ultra ray-tracing at FHD with DLSS 5 style transfer layered on top and still pull 258fps 😮

Re: #48
Yeah, that's just how it is.
Even PSSR (based on FSR 4.1) is upscaling-only and already about two generations behind DLSS,
and with no frame generation on top of that, it's a three-generation gap.

On PS5, only a handful of titles even use FSR 3.1's frame generation,
and that's not AI-based, so it's not even in the same league as DLSS.
41AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:35
Some of the truly unhinged ones in the "shou-chan" crowd (a mocking 5ch nickname for die-hard Nintendo fanboys) actually think its tech is on par with today's mid-to-high-end GPUs — and it only just got some half-baked AI upscaling working.
43AnonymousOct 5, 2026 12:37
Re: #41
At best it's like a 3060.
That's low-end by today's standards.
56AnonymousOct 5, 2026 13:16
Re: #43
RTX 3060 > PS5 Pro ≈ RX 6600

RTX 2060 Super > PS5
60AnonymousOct 5, 2026 13:47
Re: #56
Pretty much right in terms of real-world performance.
That said, 8GB of VRAM on a 5060 is just unacceptable.
64AnonymousOct 5, 2026 14:09
No way two fans spinning these days puts out some deafening roar.
Talking about PCs with 20-year-old knowledge, lol.
72AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:14
Re: #64
If there's only a couple of fans, they have to spin fast, so of course it's loud…
74AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:17
If you're going to buy this junk-spec PC, you'd get more satisfaction out of a console.
I'm waiting until the AI bubble bursts anyway.
76AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:20
Re: #74
Nah, not happening.
Even if my current PC died
and I somehow ended up only able to afford this,
I'd buy this PC over a PS5 any day.
No way I'm abandoning my massive Steam library.
83AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:39
The specs are so trash it's almost sad 😭
Don't even call this a "gaming PC" lol
84AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:42
Re: #83
So you settled and bought a console that's even weaker than this?
Aren't you embarrassed?
86AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:42
The case design looks like it wouldn't allow much expansion — can you actually swap parts in it?
87AnonymousOct 5, 2026 15:47
Re: #86
It's a cube case, so it's probably mATX —
so a high-end GPU just physically won't fit, that's all.
It's got a full set of standard parts, so why'd you assume it couldn't be upgraded?
94AnonymousOct 5, 2026 16:06
The guy harping on about the model-number "suffix" (like Ti/Super tiers) is just some old-timer whose knowledge hasn't updated in 20 years.

Background and key points of this debate

The sticking points for this gaming PC were price and GPU specs. The bundled GPU is in the mid-range RTX 5060 family, and the unit costs roughly ¥270,000. Some in the thread argued “the 5060 is nearly twice as powerful as the PS5,” while others pointed out that “8GB of VRAM feels thin for a modern gaming PC” — one reason opinion split so sharply. The generational gap between NVIDIA’s DLSS and the upscaling tech used on PS5 systems (PSSR/FSR) was also a hot topic, with the presence or absence of frame generation cited as a key performance difference. At the same time, some argued “the PC market is far bigger than the Switch 2’s,” showing the debate couldn’t be reduced to a simple “it’s finished” verdict. Note that the GPU model names and benchmark figures cited here come from posts within the thread and may differ from official performance figures.
