3 Controversy-Hit Creators Keep Going Strong — 5ch: ‘Aren’t the Haters Just Pathetic?’

From our other sites

The story

A thread rounding up the current status of three creators who’d previously gone through online firestorms popped up on 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo G” (general live-commentary) board. It reports that manga artist Azuki Nene’s series is getting an anime adaptation, YouTuber group wakatte.tv has resumed activity after having their channel deleted, and VTuber Shigure Ui has had her age-restriction label lifted. The thread split into two camps: those who saw it as “the haters losing,” and those who argued it’s not fully settled yet, citing points like “it got bumped from broadcast TV down to streaming” and “she herself admitted she’d done something inappropriate.” The debate centered on how to judge creators who keep working after a backlash.

Aren't the haters just pathetic?
10AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:06
Pile-on campaigns are seriously pointless, you know.

Re: #10
Dogpiling only works if the target's got a weak mentality to begin with.
Otherwise they just get ignored and that's the end of it.

Her face, name, address, career history, sockpuppet self-promotion, a sockpuppet declaring victory in her own argument, a rating of some guy's dick she'd slept with, the property registry for her house plus the mortgage on it, her husband's workplace, her husband's full name, her husband's background, her family's full names, their backgrounds, even their ages — all of it got exposed, and she's still taking zero damage?
15AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:08
Re: #13
They're still making the anime and the original manga hasn't been pulled from shelves, so yeah, zero damage.
18AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:08
Re: #13
I mean, even with all that personal stuff leaking out…
She's still got the money.
19AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:09
Re: #13
If it ever got to the point where the author had to pay damages or something, sure, that'd count as a loss — but that's never happening, lol.
34AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:14
With Miiyama I'm also worried the voice actors are gonna get stuck with "casting couch" rumors (slang implying they slept their way into the role) for the rest of their careers.
The bar for this anime adaptation looks rough.
39AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:15
Re: #34
I don't think that manga is even known outside the people who've seen the controversy threads.
36AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:14
She's a beautiful genius manga artist and her husband's a hot elite too — total power couple.
There was never any way to beat them from the start.
45AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:18
Re: #36
Her dad's a bureaucrat and she's an art-school grad — textbook upper-middle-class background — and she was drawing that kind of manga? That's genuinely off-putting.
48AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:19
Re: #45
Doesn't matter how off-put you are, nothing's gonna change.
52AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:20
Re: #48
Guess I'll go be off-putting at Elon Musk then.
60AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:24
With Miiyama, people were starting a new thread about it every single day and loving it during the serialization — now that the anime's confirmed they suddenly grow a conscience? What's that about.
The hater-readers were the ones enjoying the disability-bullying content in the first place.
63AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:25
Re: #60
That's like 'Tekonder Park' (a manga infamous for anti-Korean content) turning into a Japan-Korea friendship project.
65AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:26
Hasn't the Miiyama problem gone totally unresolved though?
The production side hasn't budged, and the author's wandered into dangerous territory where she could get targeted by genuinely unhinged people like Chinfe or Oka-kun (infamous obsessive internet trolls).
70AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:28
Re: #65
They said they're making the anime with a ton of changes, so no damage there.
Any idiot who shows up to harass her in person is just gonna get arrested, end of story.
66AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:26
Once a new controversy pops up, everyone just drifts over to that one instead.
Letting it fizzle out quietly is always the best move.
68AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:27
Re: #66
Exactly this.
There's basically a playbook for handling backlash by now.
Just wait for the next controversy and all the fickle outrage crowd wanders off to that one.
67AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:27
How's the Miiyama author even supposed to turn things around from here?
Feels like every time she puts out something new, she just gets turned into a punching bag again.
71AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:29
Re: #67
There's nothing to turn around, she hasn't lost.
The goal was to get the anime cancelled, and that never happened.
76AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:30
Re: #67
When did the author ever lose?
They're still making the anime, aren't they?
77AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:31
Re: #67
She could just change her pen name and go original-story-credit only.
As long as she doesn't get found out like Matsuki did, she can get away with anything.
72AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:29
Re: #71
Well, they did at least get it knocked down from broadcast TV to streaming.
78AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:31
Re: #72
They never said streaming-only though.
There's been no official announcement — you're just making that up.
80AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:31
Re: #72
They're making a ton of changes to it, so clearly they're fully intending to air it on broadcast TV.
83AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:32
Re: #72
Officials never said anything like that, yet so many haters are treating it as proof of victory anyway.
74AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:29
Nene-chan's already married and loaded.
The haters, who have nothing, already lost.
88AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:33
Re: #74
Watched the hater's confrontation video — the guy looked like the type who shouldn't be let outside.
This one's a win for Azuki.
81AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:31
If the idiots on the other side go rogue and someone actually gets arrested, you can slap a 'bunch of criminals' label on the whole group in one shot.
There's even an argument that it's better for her side if the reckless ones keep escalating.
89AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:34
Re: #81
But the ones who'd actually get hurt by that are the very people who got flamed in the first place, right?
What are you even saying, that's way too tasteless.
97AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:37
Azuki — anime cancelled. Wakatte — channel deleted. Shigure Ui — age restriction (already lifted, sure).

None of them actually won 😭
102AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:39
Re: #97
For Shigure, the collab in question got cancelled and she herself admitted it was inappropriate, so that's a total loss.
Only the simps who got the ladder kicked out from under them by the woman herself kept holding on for some reason.
As for the Miiyama author, it's gone way past Miiyama itself at this point — her own behavior is so unhinged she's become a running joke all on her own.
111AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:41
Don't know about Shigure Ui, but didn't Miiyama's family home get exposed?
Thinking about getting stalked by unhinged people for the rest of her life over that, is it really a win?
117AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:43
Re: #111
Unlike Chinfe's or Oka-kun's targets, she's got money, so it's not that damaging.
Anyone who won't let it go just ends up getting arrested.
122AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:45
Re: #117
Even when "Sonshi" (nickname for a notorious net figure) shows up with a crowd in tow, it doesn't mean much once the harassment's already happened.
Guess it depends on how worked up "Kenma" gets — who knows.
131AnonymousOct 4, 2026 20:48
Re: #122
Unlike Sonshi, she seems likely to actually take proper countermeasures.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

The three cases raised in this thread share a common thread: social-media criticism — so-called “anti” (hater) activity — directly affecting whether a creative work or broadcasting activity could continue. When activity resumes in some altered form after a backlash, the person involved is often seen by onlookers as having taken “zero damage,” but the thread split between “they won” and “it’s not a clean win” depending on factors like a change in format (e.g., shifting from broadcast TV to streaming) and whether the person involved issued an apology. Details of doxxing and remarks mocking the target’s circumstances were also posted in the thread, but this article has chosen not to reproduce those posts. The observation that “backlash response just naturally fades once a new controversy comes along” is worth noting as a structural feature of online public opinion.
