Fuji TV announced on September 21 that YOSHIKI of X JAPAN will appear as himself in the final episode (airing September 28) of the Getsuku drama “Black Trick: The Lawyer Who Controls Judgment,” starring GACKT. This marks YOSHIKI’s first Getsuku appearance in about 26 years, since 1999’s “Bus Stop.” The pairing came together after an exchange on social media led to his first-ever collaboration with GACKT. On 5ch’s Geinou/Sports News+ thread, the announcement drew a mix of surprised reactions, alongside repeated questions about the drama’s poor ratings and Fuji TV’s motives for the casting.

Fuji TV announced on the 21st that YOSHIKI of X JAPAN will appear in the September 28 finale of its Getsuku drama “Black Trick: The Lawyer Who Controls Judgment” (Mondays, 9:00 PM), starring singer GACKT. This will be YOSHIKI’s first Getsuku appearance in roughly 26 years, since “Bus Stop.”
His acting's no good, so he's just calling in his buddies from the Kakuzuke [Check status-quiz show] to mess around

Thought he'd collapsed from exhaustion in the US though?
7AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:53
Watch, Fuji TV's gonna pull some baffling nonsense again and can Gackt — just wait and see
8AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:54
Taking photos with the guy blamed for tanking the drama, lol

Guess it's a 'no shame' move at this point — he's got zero name recognition with younger people. The crowd at his dinner show was impressively all seniors, 60s and up. YOSHIKI's basically an enka [traditional ballad] act now.

He's starting to become like old Yuya Uchida
as a presence

Re: #11
Yuya Uchida may have done that ridiculous octopus dance in front of yakuza, but he's still the great man who laid the foundation for Japan's rock scene.
Without him, there'd be no Japanese rock at all.

If they think this'll boost the ratings, that's grand-slam-level stupid
13AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:55
This is exactly why Fuji TV never gets its act together
14AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:56
Nobody's watching anyway, might as well have the two of them wrestle sumo or something
15AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:56
Never seen it, but is this supposed to be a comedy drama?
16AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:57
Do people always refer to YOSHIKI without any honorific?
17AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:58
Wasn't there an article recently about him collapsing from overwork?
18AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:58
I want him to appear while eating curry
28AnonymousSep 21, 2026 17:05
Re: #18
And I want a scene where the curry's too spicy, he flips out, flips the table, and drives off
19AnonymousSep 21, 2026 16:59
After the first episode blew up over GACKT's voice being too quiet, it went totally silent, so I figured this show's season had already wrapped
20AnonymousSep 21, 2026 17:00
He appeared teamed up with Gackt on Gackt's home turf, the Kakuzuke [Check] show
and on top of that he scarfed down snacks the whole time and totally overshadowed Gackt
22AnonymousSep 21, 2026 17:00
I honestly have no idea what's supposed to be so amazing about YOSHIKI

Taichi Kokubun was in it too, lol

Re: #24
All I remember is Uchimura starring and the theme song by Mr. Children

Re: #1
In the earlier thread they were saying Sho Kiryuin's appearing too

Proof that Fuji's been forgiven
This is where Fuji TV's comeback begins
30AnonymousSep 21, 2026 17:05
And that's supposed to send the ratings through the roof?
31AnonymousSep 21, 2026 17:06
Gackt, YOSHIKI, and the like
32AnonymousSep 21, 2026 17:06
It's Mr. YOSHLKI to you, dammit!
44AnonymousSep 21, 2026 17:22
'Bus Stop' — the one with Ucchan [Uchimura's nickname]? Was he even in it?

GACKT's actually divorced though
74AnonymousSep 21, 2026 18:22
It's a Getsuku show but the ratings are like 3%, right?
79AnonymousSep 21, 2026 18:35
Re: #74
The lowest was 3.5%, but the average was actually 4.4%
Background and points of discussion
The Getsuku (Monday 9pm) slot was once Fuji TV’s flagship drama timeslot, but in recent years it has struggled with weak ratings, prompting more attempts to generate buzz through headline-grabbing guest casting. YOSHIKI and GACKT, both musicians who came up through the visual-kei scene, had never appeared together before; this time the pairing came about after an exchange on social media, which drew attention. On the thread, some expressed surprise at the “26 years” figure or nostalgia for YOSHIKI’s past work, while many others questioned how much a guest appearance could really do for the drama’s reception or ratings, leaving opinions split on Fuji TV’s casting strategy itself. Details of how the appearance came about, and what YOSHIKI will actually do on screen, won’t be known until the finale airs.
