Well, true, but compared to the Switch 1, the Switch 2 has improved massively and I'd call it a solid pass mark.
Back in the Switch 1 days you'd see single-digit fps, terrain popping up out of nowhere, game crashes — stuff that wasn't even really playable.
I'm playing Elden Ring in handheld mode and honestly it's pretty comfortable.
Playing it on PC would be a far better experience though.
Don't need a "far better experience" — being able to play it easily is enough.
If it's easy to play AND comfortable, that's more than enough.
If it's not easy to play, I just stop touching games altogether.

I game on PC, and it's been years since I've spent any time on settings or setup.
It obviously means "the best visuals among consoles that need zero setup — just plug the cable in and go," however you slice it.
Being able to do all kinds of things IS its strength — saying it's "a waste" to use for gaming makes no sense at all.
So what, you're gonna play AAA titles on a "home trash" console instead? ("home trash"/家ゴミ is derogatory slang some PC gamers use for consoles)
It's not even an article to begin with, just some Mac fanboy's personal ramblings on a blog.
Once you're dead, everything in your collection is just trash. So the right move is to avoid buying unnecessary stuff as much as possible, and promptly sell off or dispose of anything you use less often or have lost interest in.
Ultimately, of course, the answer is to graduate from games that require consoles altogether. Keep your gaming confined to essentials you already own, like a PC or smartphone. Actually, graduating from the gaming hobby entirely is the optimal solution.
