  • 4 Car Traits That Crack People Up, Like ‘A Kei Car with a White License Plate’

A thread on the 5ch message board blew up as users listed car traits that make them laugh whenever they spot them — things like “a kei car with a white license plate,” “a Suiyoubi Doushou (TV show) sticker,” “Baby in Car” signs, and “basically any Mazda.” Posters kept piling on with real-life “I know that type” sightings, from white fur draped over the dashboard to telltale patterns in custom license plate numbers. As the discussion grew, opinions split over why some kei car owners deliberately switch to white plates, and over the etiquette of using wheelchair-marked parking spaces.

Never even thought twice about whether a kei car had a white plate

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Kei car license plates are officially required to have a yellow background, but through procedures like the preferred-number system, owners can pay an extra fee to get a white plate instead — and a certain number of owners choose to do so. Meanwhile, parking spaces marked with the wheelchair symbol aren’t reserved exclusively for people with mobility impairments; the permit system also covers people with “internal disabilities” — such as heart or kidney conditions — that aren’t visible from the outside, so judging eligibility by appearance alone is easy to get wrong. In the thread, opinions were split over why kei car owners switch to white plates and over who’s actually eligible to use those parking spots, while the conversation also branched into “I know that type” banter about guessing what kind of car owner someone is based on their stickers and plate numbers.

  • Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Hit by Nonstop Trouble, Sparking Fears It Could Wreck Japan’s Olympic and World Cup Bids

Tokyo Sports reports that the Asian Games currently underway in Aichi and Nagoya have been plagued by a string of operational troubles, warning that this could hurt Japan’s future bids to host the Olympics, the FIFA World Cup, and other major international events. Operations are being run mainly by a French events company, and the bare-bones facilities at the athletes’ village have also become a talking point. On 5ch’s general sports news board, threads argued over who’s to blame — echoing the old friction between Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City over co-hosting arrangements — alongside criticism of the Aichi governor who spearheaded the bid, and questions about why overseas media broke the story first while domestic TV has stayed largely quiet. Opinions were split.

Concerns are mounting that the wave of trouble plaguing the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games could hurt Japan’s future bids to host global events such as the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.

Nagoya Mayor Takashi Kawamura, who had been aiming to co-host the 2026 Asian Games with Aichi Prefecture, announced at a press conference on the 5th that he was "withdrawing the bid," citing the inability to agree with the prefecture on event costs and the cost-sharing split.
Meanwhile, Aichi Governor Hideaki Omura expressed shock at his own press conference that same day, saying "There was no advance notice whatsoever." He added, "I don't think this can work without the prefecture and city co-hosting. We'll keep discussing and coordinating."

Kind of like a dry run for the expected Nankai Trough megaquake

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Back in 2016, Nagoya City temporarily withdrew from co-hosting after failing to agree with Aichi Prefecture on the budget, and organizing responsibility ultimately fell to the French events company GL events. The preparation budget has swelled to more than three times the original estimate, reportedly totaling around 370 billion yen. On the question of accountability, the dominant view in the thread was that even though operations were outsourced to a foreign company, the event is still seen abroad simply as “Japan’s Games,” so the Aichi Prefecture officials who pushed for the bid can’t dodge responsibility. Another point of debate was the gap in media coverage: posters repeatedly noted that while overseas outlets like the BBC broke the story first, domestic Japanese TV has given it strikingly light coverage — though the reasons for that remain speculation rather than confirmed fact. Some also framed it as “only Korea is complaining,” but in reality India, Thailand, and other countries raised complaints early on too, so reducing the reaction to a single country doesn’t match reality.

  • Ayase Ueda Nets His 3rd Goal in 4 Games Since Joining Lille — But Lille Crash From First After Shock Loss to Bottom-Placed Nice

On September 20 local time, in Matchday 5 of France’s Ligue 1, Lille’s Ayase Ueda started and played the full 90 minutes, scoring his 3rd goal in 4 official matches since joining the club. The goal — a left-footed finish from inside the penalty area — drew praise for its quality as well as the result. However, league-leading Lille went on to lose 1-2 to bottom-placed Nice, suffering their first defeat of the season and surrendering top spot in the table. While many thread comments praised Ueda’s individual performance, debate also broke out over whether Ligue 1 or the Premier League is the tougher league, alongside talk of how well Feyenoord — the club Ueda left — have been scoring since his departure.

Started at center forward, played the full match

In Ligue 1’s Matchday 5 on September 20 local time, league-leading Lille, with Ueda in the squad, faced bottom-of-the-table Nice. Lille suffered a painful 1-2 defeat — their first loss of the season — and fell from first place.

Starting at center forward, Ueda scored for the first time in two matches. In the 79th minute, with his side trailing 0-2, he held the ball up to become the focal point of the attack, then reacted to a teammate’s lofted pass to run in behind the defense, firing home a left-footed shot from inside the left side of the box. The ball rippled cleanly into the net.

Well, I guess Ligue 1 is a step up in intensity from the Eredivisie anyway

Even Nakamura's been saying stuff like
"Playing for Lyon is nothing like playing for Stade Rennes"

That said, Ligue 1 these days has less talent than it did a while back,
so it's actually gotten a bit softer for Japanese players than before too

What Ueda needs isn't a goal tally, it's
"the profile of a forward who can drag the team forward"

Even scoring today, he still just ends up rated as "part of the losing side"

In the Premier League, Ueda's not going to be anywhere near the top scorers
    Not like Son Heung-min

Looking at current players like Tanaka and Kamada, they're the same as Japanese players before them —
not at a level where they can score heavily in the Premier League

Even as a striker, Ueda would top out in single digits in the Premier League,
and no Champions League-level club would sign him for it anyway

He'd have grown more scoring near the top in La Liga
Playing for Lille isn't going to change the national-team version of Ueda all that much

Kamada could've been the hero with the match-winning goal today, but he butchered it and let the chance slip

What the national team actually needs is that kind of finishing punch from its midfielders
Compared to the power of Hidetoshi Nakata's shots, Kamada's got basically nothing
Sano's shot power is an even lower tier

Ueda also needs to start banging in more decisive strikes as a forward,
    or none of this matters

A goal that just drags you back level after falling behind, like today's, is the easy kind to score anyway
And the finish itself wasn't anything special — Asia-level, J-League-level stuff

It's not that the keeper was good, it's that the level of finish Ueda's capable of is low

    Background and Key Talking Points

Ayase Ueda transferred this past summer from Dutch powerhouse Feyenoord to league-leading Lille in France’s Ligue 1, and this goal was his 3rd in 4 official matches since joining. Thread opinion split mainly over comparing league quality, with comments going back and forth between “he needs to prove it in the Premier League, not France” and “Ligue 1 has lost talent and gotten easier lately.” Another point of debate was how to weigh Feyenoord’s strong form since Ueda’s exit — 25 goals in their last 7 matches — which highlights a twist common in judging a player right after a transfer: the verdict ends up shaped not just by output at the new club, but by how the old club performs without him. It’s also worth noting the match itself was a defeat that knocked Lille from first place, a reminder that Ueda’s individual performance and the team’s results don’t always line up.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Geisports Sokuho+) thread “[Soccer] Ayase Ueda scores again! Blistering left-footed strike makes it 3 in 4 official games since joining! Lille suffer crushing loss to bottom-placed Nice, fall from first.”

  • “Estpolis Denki I & II” (Lufia) Confirmed for Switch/PS5/Steam — 5ch Reacts

During the “PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026” broadcast in the early hours of September 21, 2026, it was announced that the 1993 RPG “Estpolis Denki” and its 1995 prequel “Estpolis Denki II” will be ported — with some renewal — to Switch/Switch 2/PS5/Steam. Reactions poured into 5ch’s hardware/industry (Geha) board immediately after the announcement: some praised it as “II is a landmark title in Super Famicom history” and “on the level of Chrono Trigger,” while others worried about the future of the retro game market, asking “why would today’s younger generation buy a Super Famicom game?” and “isn’t it just the same fans buying over and over?” — opinions split over both the game’s merit and who’s actually buying it.

The 1993 RPG “Estpolis Denki” and its 1995 prequel “Estpolis Denki II” are being ported with partial renewal!

The dramatic story that moved so many players to tears now returns!

    The first one is so-so.
The second is a landmark title in Super Famicom history — good enough to go toe-to-toe with Chrono Trigger.
The third came out too late and ended up a rare, hard-to-find game.

And then the DS version ruined that masterpiece.
Imagine if Chrono Trigger redesigned every character to look like someone else,
turned it into an action game where Chrono adventures alone,
and scrambled the story on top of that — that's basically what happened.

Background and Key Points of Discussion

Estpolis Denki is an RPG series released by Taito (now under Square Enix) for the Super Famicom in 1993 and 1995, with the second entry long regarded as a hidden classic passed down by word of mouth. This new port stands out for launching simultaneously across multiple platforms — Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and Steam. Alongside praise from longtime fans, the thread also aired concerns about the broader trend of retro RPG ports in recent years. Specifically, some pointed out that the same core of buyers may just keep purchasing these titles without the fanbase actually growing, and speculated that development and sales decisions are increasingly being made by people from that same generation. Meanwhile, the comparison to Chrono Trigger drew pushback too, with some arguing the two titles gained recognition through very different paths, making a simple ranking of one over the other questionable.

  • Tottenham Sink to Bottom of the Table for First Time in 17 Years — Still Winless After £300M+ Spending Spree

Tottenham lost 2-3 to Aston Villa in Matchday 5 of the Premier League on September 19, 2026, leaving them winless with 2 draws and 3 losses through five matches and dropping to the bottom of the table for the first time since 2009 — a 17-year low. Coming right after a summer spending spree of over £300 million (roughly ¥64.5 billion), the slump split opinion on 5ch threads between shock that “they’re way too weak for the money spent” and voices pointing to a “structural problem with the club itself,” the same complaint past managers like Mourinho and Conte have voiced before.

Tottenham of England’s Premier League have fallen to the bottom of the league table for the first time since 2009. Roberto De Zerbi’s side are winless through five matches, with 2 draws and 3 losses. Despite a summer spending spree of over £300 million (roughly ¥64.5 billion), the results haven’t followed, giving the club its worst start since the 2008/09 season.

    Dropping to Last Place

Tottenham faced Aston Villa in Matchday 5, played on the 19th local time. Johann Manzambi opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, and Villa doubled their lead through Nicolas Jackson and Emiliano Buendia in the second half, putting Tottenham 3-0 down. Connor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke pulled two goals back late on, but Tottenham fell 2-3.

Man United are turning back into 'Weak United' again…

    Background and Talking Points

Tottenham last won a league title back in 1961, and haven’t lifted a major cup since the 2008 League Cup, earning them a reputation as the club with plenty of money but nothing to show for it. The quotes from departed managers Mourinho, Conte, and Postecoglou cited in the thread show that this same complaint has surfaced under manager after manager, so De Zerbi’s current struggles aren’t really anything new. It’s also worth noting that “bottom of the table for the first time since 2009” doesn’t mean this is the worst moment in club history — it’s simply their position in this season’s table so far, a distinction that’s easy to misread. This summer’s spending was among the largest in the entire Premier League, so pressure on the manager is likely to keep building if results don’t turn around.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Entertainment/Sports News+) thread “[Football] Tottenham Fall to Bottom of the Table for First Time Since 2009 as ~£300M Signings Fail to Deliver — The 17-Year-Old Nightmare Returns.”

  • Why Buy on Debt? Savers Get Swarmed With Rebuttals on 5ch’s VIP Board

A post arguing that “you should just work and save up before taking out a student loan or a mortgage” set off a wave of pushback on 5ch’s News VIP board. Some argued it’s “inefficient,” pointing to the hidden cost of delaying school or a home purchase and to the logic of inflation and leverage, while others countered that “taking on debt is a personal choice” or that “borrowing for something you don’t need is just dumb.” The thread eventually spiraled into a fight over what “cost-performance” even means when it comes to buying a car.

    Re: #142
And conversely, why would you have to buy a used house and renovate it in the first place?

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Mortgages and student loans work by borrowing a lump sum upfront and paying it back out of future income — a fundamentally different premise from saving up the full amount before spending. The “inflation” argument raised in the thread points to the idea that inflation erodes the real value of savings while the amount you borrow stays fixed in nominal terms, meaning that when asset prices and wages are rising, borrowing and acting early tends to work in your favor. “Leverage” is an extension of this same logic — moving more money than you actually have on hand in order to avoid missing out on opportunities. At the same time, given how loan defaults on student debt and mortgage foreclosures have become recognized social problems, there’s also a strongly held view that the risk of borrowing simply “because you can” shouldn’t be brushed aside. Throughout the thread, posters never quite agreed on where to draw the line around necessity or the prestige of one’s school, and the argument ultimately morphed into a fight over the very definition of “cost-performance” — laying bare just how differently people’s baseline assumptions about money can be.

  • Sony Pulls Funding From Hideo Kojima’s New Game — 5ch Reacts: “6.6 Billion? 15.6 Billion Yen? No Way That’s Real”

Sony notified Kojima Productions — the studio led by former Konami developer Hideo Kojima — that it was cutting off development funding for the new title PHYSINT during a Zoom meeting in June 2026, Kojima revealed in an interview with IGN. PHYSINT had generated buzz after being unveiled on PlayStation Direct, but has now had its funding source cut off. On 5ch, the news sparked discussion of ballooning AAA development costs and labor-cost structures, suspicion that reports of a “mid-2030s completion” may actually have been a misreport, and broader debate over what’s ailing the industry.

In June, I got word from SIE that they wanted to set up a Zoom call to talk. I was incredibly busy at the time — I’d just been to New York for a Prada event, and right after that I went to Los Angeles too. Anyway, I came back and had that conversation over Zoom.

That’s when they told me they couldn’t provide any more development funding for PHYSINT. I was in shock, and I asked, “What did you just say?” I couldn’t process it right away. I asked again, “What do you mean?” but they just kept repeating the same thing.

    — You’ve said Sony never explained its reason for the cancellation. Was there ever any explanation given afterward?

Kishimoto was already a mess back during NARUTO itself

Background and Key Points of This Story

Kojima Productions has operated under Sony’s funding ever since Hideo Kojima went independent from Konami in 2015, producing titles like the Death Stranding series, and PHYSINT was announced as a new project built on that same funding relationship. In the thread, a long back-and-forth played out between posters who blamed the rise in development costs on “political correctness” or “the left,” and others who countered that the failure of underperforming titles like Concord came down to a plain lack of polish rather than ideology — the argument was never resolved (this article omits that particular back-and-forth). At the same time, some pointed out that the reason AAA development budgets balloon into the tens of billions of yen is the labor-cost structure behind tying up staff numbering in the hundreds for several years at a stretch, suggesting this isn’t a problem unique to any one company. One note: the phrase “gone silent” in the original thread title actually refers to Sony notifying Kojima of the funding cutoff over a Zoom call — it’s easy to misread as if all contact literally stopped, but that wasn’t the case.

  • Yoichiro Kashiya Admits Fellow Draftee Shinji Kagawa Was His ‘Biggest Wall’

Former Japan national team forward Yoichiro Kashiya opened up about his career-long rivalries on TBS’s “Life’s Best Restaurant.” Kashiya, who signed with Cerezo Osaka in 2006 as the youngest pro in club history and was dubbed a “genius,” revealed that fellow draftee Shinji Kagawa was “the biggest wall” he faced. He also looked back on how Kagawa, an unknown at the time he joined the club, began to break out in his second year. The thread sparked by this story was full of nostalgia for Kagawa’s brilliance during his Dortmund days, but the conversation soon expanded to cover how current players like Takefusa Kubo and Ryunosuke Sato are being used, as well as opinions on Keisuke Honda’s work as a pundit—turning into a cross-generational debate over Japan’s greatest attackers.

Former Japan national team forward Yoichiro Kashiya appeared on TBS’s “Life’s Best Restaurant” (Saturdays, 11:30 PM), which aired on the 19th. During the show, he opened up about his feelings toward a rival.

Kashiya signed a professional contract with Cerezo Osaka in 2006, while still a first-year high schooler, becoming the youngest pro in club history and earning the “genius” label. When host Koji Kato brought up, “Kagawa (Shinji) was there at the time, right?”, Kashiya replied, “That’s right. He was honestly the biggest wall I faced,” referring to Kagawa, who joined the club in the same year and was one year older.

“I didn’t even know the name Shinji Kagawa, and I had no idea he’d go pro,” Kashiya said. He recalled that in their first year, neither of them could break into the first team and they “trained together in what you’d call the reserve squad,” but by year two, “Shinji Kagawa started getting noticed by the world. He was just that good.”

Hard to believe it's already been 12 years since Kashiya was a nationwide sports sensation for that one half-year stretch.

Background and key points of this discussion

Yoichiro Kashiya signed a professional contract with Cerezo Osaka in 2006 while still in high school, becoming the youngest player in club history and earning the nickname “genius.” Shinji Kagawa, who joined the club the same year, went on to break out in J2 before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2010, where he became a key player in back-to-back Bundesliga title wins — one of the most decorated résumés of any Japanese player. Kashiya also played abroad, in Italy and Switzerland, but never established himself in Europe to the same degree as Kagawa. The thread was mostly filled with nostalgia for Kagawa at his peak, but the conversation gradually broadened to include how current players like Takefusa Kubo and Ryunosuke Sato are being used, as well as opinions on Keisuke Honda’s work as a pundit — turning into a wider, cross-generational comparison of Japanese attackers. One notable point of surprise: Kagawa and Lewandowski were teammates at Dortmund at the same time, with Kagawa as the starter and Lewandowski coming off the bench behind him — a stark contrast to how the two are regarded today.

Crystal Palace’s Takehiro Tomiyasu was substituted midway through halftime in the Premier League’s Matchday 5 clash with Leeds (a scoreless draw) on September 20 local time. He had started at the center of a back three, but after the match the manager explained that he had “hurt his calf.” With the Japan national team set to convene on the 21st, concern is mounting over the impact on his call-up, and on 5ch, comments praising his actual performance mixed with laments over his recurring injuries, with some calling him a “Spelunker” (after the notoriously fragile video-game character). Opinions also weighed in heavily on how he’s being used by the national team amid a packed schedule.

“He wasn’t in a state where he should have pushed through.”

In Matchday 5 of the Premier League, held on September 20 local time, Crystal Palace — home to Daichi Kamada and Takehiro Tomiyasu — traveled to face Leeds, who count Ao Tanaka in their ranks. The match ended in a scoreless draw.

In this game, Tomiyasu, who started at the center of the back three, was substituted at halftime.

Something looked off, so it was probably a precautionary sub, but…
he's just a hard player to rely on.
    13AnonymousSep 21, 2026 07:22
    Time to retire.
No club's going to sign him after this.
    14AnonymousSep 21, 2026 07:22
He was playing really well, what a waste.
Zion and Tomiyasu have quietly turned into pros at ball distribution.

Had a bad feeling the moment I saw he was starting.
His actual performance was good, though — didn't expect him to break down before halftime.
Who do they call up in his place?
The names being floated would do fine — Okamura from Machida, Inamura from FC Tokyo, or Inoue from Yokohama.
    21AnonymousSep 21, 2026 07:28
He's basically a one-trick pony out there and still can't stay fit… how does that even happen?
    24AnonymousSep 21, 2026 07:29
He should just move to a less physically demanding league.
Serie A or something — how about that?
    25AnonymousSep 21, 2026 07:30
Play like Kazu (Kazuyoshi Miura, still playing pro football in his late 50s).
    He could go until 50.
    26AnonymousSep 21, 2026 07:31
He's already got the 'Premier League player' title to his name.
He'd probably be happier seeing out his career in a lower-tier league from here.
    28AnonymousSep 21, 2026 07:32
If he doesn't withdraw from the national team and plays anyway, it'll only get worse.
A defender who can't last 90 minutes is nothing but a liability.
    29AnonymousSep 21, 2026 07:33
His legs are already wrecked. He won't be able to walk properly when he's older. He should just retire.

He'll probably be fine by October, but he'll likely pick up a new injury before then.

    54AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:07
There's no need to call Tomiyasu up until the final qualifiers.
Part of why he's so injury-prone is that Moriyasu has been running him into the ground.

Why does someone always show up saying 'Tomiyasu hasn't been injured for a little while now, he's cured! Someone tell Mitoma!' like clockwork?
    Is it amnesia or something?

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Tomiyasu has repeatedly suffered injuries — to his hip, knee, hamstring, and other areas — dating back to his time at Arsenal in 2023, and this latest injury is being discussed in that context. As of this writing, the only official information is the manager’s comment about a “calf injury”; the results of any detailed examination and the length of his absence had not yet been confirmed at the time of this article. In the thread, some pointed to his playing time this season (Matchday 1: 19 min, Matchday 2: 74 min, Matchday 3: rested, Matchday 4: 54 min, Matchday 5: 46 min) to question how he’s being used, which could be read as the result of both club and country repeatedly giving him short spells on the pitch. Meanwhile, some speculated this could be a precautionary move to avoid a national-team call-up, though that remains pure speculation. Worth noting: his on-field performance itself is being rated highly, and the discussion tends to treat his injuries and his performance as separate issues.

  • Fans Say They “Can’t Get Excited” About Angerme Under Ise’s Leadership — 5ch: “The Mid-Tier Members Are Too Weak”

After Moe Kamikokuryo’s graduation, Angerme shifted to a lineup led by Suzuran Ise. The current tour is built around a core trio of Ise, Hashisako, and Dango (a member’s nickname), but a thread on 5ch’s Hello! Project board saw fans saying they “just can’t get fired up about it.” Opinions in the thread split between those questioning the leader’s qualities and those pointing to a thin bench of mid-tier members, with repeated comparisons to the Wada, Takeuchi, and Kamikokuryo eras.

    1AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:18
Yeah, it's probably because Ise's kind of a difficult personality, so people just don't feel like going "I want to support her!"
    4AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:20
Thinking Ise and Tamenaga are probably gonna be hanging around dragging on for another 5 years kills any urge to root for them
    7AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:23
The "three-color dango" push flopping didn't help either
The mid-tier lineup is just too weak
    47AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:49
    Re: #7
They clearly pale in comparison even to Ono, Onoda, and Akiyama
    9AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:23
Angerme's cycle had just settled down when this "looking-hot" bubble (盛れ, an image/filter-boost hype bubble) burst, and more DD-type fans (fans who support anyone rather than being loyal to one member) left than expected
Ise herself is popular enough, but if we're talking yin and yang, she leans more toward the "yin" side, which might play into it a bit too
And yeah, the mid-tier members are still lackluster
    10AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:24
If she had her way, she probably wouldn't even want to be leader — she'd rather be doing what Kero's doing right now (Kero, a member's nickname)
    11AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:25
Even back in the Takeuchi/Kamiko (Kamikokuryo's nickname) era there was kind of a "this'll do, right?" vibe being pushed on us
Of course, it's not the members' fault at all
    12AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:25
Wada and Takeuchi had real charisma
    13AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:26
This tour is pushing the "three-color dango" trio hard, but for fans of the other members it's just not fun
Honestly it's almost despair-inducing thinking this might just keep going
    14AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:28
I don't think it's really Ise's fault so much as there just being no overwhelmingly popular ace-type member
    15AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:28
Honestly I had hopes for Ise, but she couldn't break the downward trend
    16AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:29
I went to the Goto/Nagano bar event but skipped Angerme's solo show this spring
Might go to the Pia Arena show though
    17AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:29
Ise's an outsider (didn't come up through the group from the start) — she's not leader material
    18AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:30
    Re: #17
If you make Tamenaga leader it's completely over, you sure about that?
    19AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:30
    It's a member-quality issue.
Compared to "Sasaki + Kamiko," "Ise + Hashisako + Dango" is clearly small-fry and lower caliber by any measure — there's no way they can pull in an audience.

Blaming that all on the leader alone is just cruel.
    20AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:30
Isn't it because she's not the type like Takeuchi or Kamikokuryo who can pull the group along with skill and vocal ability? Since she lacks skill, her "feelings statements" stand out more
In that sense, even Tamenaga as leader would be better than Ise
    22AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:32
    Re: #20
    Tamenaga's not a skill-driven, can-carry-the-group type either, so it'd be the same
And if you add her lack of popularity on top, she'd be even worse than Ise
    21AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:31
They're in the middle of the fall tour, so why isn't Tamenaga writing blog posts?
    She's the sub-leader, right?
The gap's already showing right there
    23AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:32
If she's an outsider, don't just dump the responsibility on her
The members who came up through the group should step up lol
    24AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:33
Get fired up — Everybody go, everybody go, everybody go! (a chant from a Hello! Project song)
    25AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:33
If Matsumoto were leader I'd actually want to root for them
    26AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:34
Making Tamenaga leader is basically the same as making Haga leader, right?
Isn't that a problem? Honestly it's starting to worry me
    27AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:34
At this rate, they'll probably just bring in new members who already look like they'll be popular from day one
Because Angerme's bad at developing talent
    28AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:35
You can totally tell who's just scrolling past this topic! ❤️‍🔥
    29AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:36
They brought in Hirayama, Goto, and Nagano — members who looked like they'd be popular, and they actually are popular within the group — and this is still where things stand
    30AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:36
Even with Goto and Nagano added it's come to this, so I'm not expecting much
    31AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:37
I wonder if Tamenaga would've gotten popular if she'd joined Juice=Juice instead
    33AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:38
She's in a situation where she could've become the ace right away and didn't — isn't the real cause a failed reinforcement (recruiting) strategy?
    35AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:39
Angerme itself is just not good anymore
    Whether it's Ise or Tamenaga
    Angerme itself is the problem
Though honestly, it was Hashisako who created that whole atmosphere
    36AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:39
Hashisako's probably lost all motivation by now

    38AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:41
Watching the recent tours, it really feels like Ise and Tamenaga are the cancer here
    41AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:42
Having only Goto to play off of and highlight Nagano feels thin
Hello! Project keeps saying they don't need an "ace," so nobody stands out and this is the result, isn't it
    42AnonymousSep 21, 2026 08:42
Even members who, before joining Angerme, made people go "They stole the ace! Angerme's so unfair!" end up making people go "huh, is that all?" once they've actually joined

Same as with Tsubaki Factory — there's no skilled senior member above them, so I guess the rookies just don't grow

Honestly I think they're dead last among the current groups
Even Morning Musume is better than that

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Angerme entered what’s known as the “Ise era” when Suzuran Ise became leader following Moe Kamikokuryo’s graduation. The current tour is built around a core push of Ise, Hashisako, and Dango, but opinions on this setup itself remain divided in the thread. The debate splits roughly into two camps: one questioning the leader’s personal qualities and charisma, and the other pointing out that the mid-tier members’ skill and popularity fall short compared to past eras. Comparisons to former leaders like Ayaka Wada, Akari Takeuchi, and Moe Kamikokuryo came up repeatedly, and there’s a persistent view that whether fans can “get fired up” hinges on having a strong member capable of pulling the group forward. That said, these are ultimately just opinions from a single 5ch thread, not a discussion backed by objective numbers like attendance figures or CD sales — it’s best read as one gauge of fan sentiment.

*This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Why can’t I get fired up about Angerme under the Ise regime?“
