  • Fuwa-chan Gets Her “Fighting Face” After Switching to Pro Wrestling — Fans Hoping for a Showdown with Yasuko

Comedian Fuwa-chan trained in pro wrestling overseas during her suspension from show business and has now joined the women’s wrestling promotion Stardom — news that set off a wave of discussion on 5channel. While plenty of commenters said they’re hoping for a “showdown” with fellow entertainer Yasuko, opinions split over whether Stardom counts as legitimate pro wrestling or leans more toward spectacle. Some also claimed that people who kept their distance from her during her hard times suddenly came around once she started getting attention for wrestling, sparking a broader discussion about how harsh relationships in the entertainment industry can be.

    Re: #19
Apparently she'd already done a bit of pro wrestling once before, as a TV segment, prior to her suspension. Then during the suspension she decided she actually wanted to do it for real, went to train at a dojo overseas, and that led into joining Stardom.

I really saw the ugly side of adults right there.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Stardom, the promotion Fuwa-chan has joined, is known for blending idol-style appeal with genuinely competitive matches, and has recently seen a steady stream of celebrities and former idols joining its ranks. The thread’s disagreement centered on whether to view Stardom as “legitimate combat sports” or as “entertainment-leaning spectacle,” and the divide largely tracked whether posters had actually watched the in-ring action for themselves. It’s also worth noting that claims about people who kept their distance during Fuwa-chan’s suspension suddenly reappearing once she gained attention are just anonymous-forum hearsay, with no confirmed facts behind them. Likewise, the calls for a showdown with Yasuko aren’t based on any actual plans — they’re simply a wish circulating among fans, and should be read with that in mind.

  • Streamer Daisuke Hori Falls Asleep Again During His ‘No Sleep for 7 Days’ Broadcast

Streamer Daisuke Hori is making waves on 5ch after repeatedly nodding off on camera during his endurance broadcast themed “I Won’t Sleep for 7 Days.” Each time he dozes off, he explains it away as a “microsleep,” but many viewers are convinced it’s just plain sleep. Reactions were split, with some pointing out the contradiction with his business selling info products about being a “short sleeper,” others worried about the dark circles under his eyes, and still others questioning whether the stunt itself is dangerous.

    Re: #130
Apparently people are saying he's got the face of death on him

Background and Key Points of This Story

“Microsleep” is originally a medical term for a brief, unintended lapse into sleep lasting only a few seconds — it’s not a word that means sleep never happened. Daisuke Hori sells info products claiming to teach short-sleep techniques, and this “7 days without sleep” broadcast appears to double as promotion for that business. The thread was split between those simply enjoying it as an entertainment stunt and those highlighting the gap between his business model — built on selling minimal sleep — and suspicions that the dozing off might be staged. The broadcast did show physical changes like dark circles under his eyes, but there’s no way to confirm his actual condition or the stunt’s authenticity outside the stream itself, so it’s worth noting that many facts beyond the thread remain unclear.

  • Is PE Class Even Necessary? 5ch Says: “We Need It—Some Kids Only Shine at Swimming”

A thread titled “PE class should be abolished” popped up on 5ch’s Livegalileo board, arguing that gym class fails kids who aren’t athletic and fuels bullying. Replies split fast: critics said other subjects like art and music have the same gap between the talented and the not-so-talented, and dismissed the OP’s stance as selfish. The OP kept firing back that even just eliminating PE-related bullying would be worth it, and the debate never converged.

    1AnonymousSep 12, 2026 11:52
Athletic kids look down on kids who aren't. But then they turn around and call the smart kids "nerds" (gariben) and refuse to give them any credit. No matter how you slice it, that's messed up.

    44AnonymousSep 12, 2026 12:18
    Re: #41
I've heard that counterargument a million times, but being bad at art or music is on a totally different level from being bad at PE.
If anything, the athletic popular kids ("riajuu"-type gym rats) are the ones who couldn't care less about trying in art or music class.
You might think you're making a sharp point, but it doesn't hold up at all.
    46AnonymousSep 12, 2026 12:19

    Re: #73
    Huh? That would never happen.
    What are you talking about?

Background and Key Points of This Debate

PE is a mandatory subject under Japan’s official Courses of Study, and there’s no indication that the Ministry of Education is considering scrapping it. Where the thread split was over whether the ranking and bullying that PE produces is a structural flaw of the subject itself, or simply a matter of teaching methods and individual differences in how kids handle it. Critics pointed out that art and music also have their own gaps between the talented and the untalented, but the OP wouldn’t budge, insisting that differences in athletic ability are a far more serious issue. Much of the exchange devolved into a circular argument over whether the OP’s claims were based on personal experience or general observation, occasionally spilling over into personal attacks.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Nandemo Jikkyo G) thread “Yeah, PE really should be abolished, right?“.

  • New Romancing SaGa 3 Title: Official Broadcast Reveals Commander Mode Axed, Other Big Changes

An official broadcast covering the new Romancing SaGa 3 title revealed several system changes: restrictions on which characters can’t be recruited or which events won’t trigger depending on your chosen protagonist are being removed, Commander Mode is being scrapped, and Combination Arts and Formation Techniques will now trigger for individual characters. On 5ch, threads buzzed with opinions on how the game follows the direction set by the previous title, Revenge of the Seventh Planet, mixed reactions to the character designs, and thoughts on where the series goes from here.

Katarina can now be recruited even if you start with a different protagonist
Even in Sarah's playthrough, she won't leave the party before the final boss fight
Commander Mode is being removed, and as a result Combination Arts and Formation Techniques will now trigger for individual characters

    *Remaster version

After defeating Algernon, talking to him brings up the options "Give me the reward," "Let me punch you once," and "Never mind."

    Give me the reward
It makes you look like you're only in it for the money, but he pays out 10,000 aurum — one of the best single rewards in all of Romancing SaGa 3. However, his line afterward is locked to a smug "I'm the mayor now. Heh."

    Let me punch you once
He really doesn't want to get hit — he screams and flees his house — but if you walk back in, he's nonchalantly back in his usual spot. On this route his dialogue reverts to match the original version, and afterward you can no longer threaten him or demand a reward.

    Never mind
Nothing changes, and here too you can't make any further demands afterward.

Speaking of Tatiana, apparently you'll be able to remove her signature gear too — like the Teddy Bear or the Flower Scarf. Though I do wonder, can you actually take off the Shrimp Claws or the Snowman's Eternal Ice Crystal?

Well, Revenge of the Seventh Planet itself already took the original Romancing SaGa 2 and turned it into a super mainstream RPG where you just beat up enemies to get stronger and push the story forward — and that worked. So it's only natural the company figures 'let's just do that again.'

    99AnonymousSep 12, 2026 10:50
    Re: #94
As for the full story, one particular protagonist is tied to the core of the plot, so playing as them gives you the deepest understanding. You can follow it well enough with the others too, though. Beyond that, it's mostly just that each protagonist gets a different epilogue.
    107AnonymousSep 12, 2026 10:53
    Re: #94
Honestly, outside of the general setting, the story itself wasn't all that clear in the original either

    Background and Points of Debate

Romancing SaGa 3 was the third entry in the series, originally released in 1995 for the Super Famicom; a remaster followed in 2019, and in 2024 a remake of SaGa 2 arrived as Revenge of the Seventh Planet. This new title continues in that lineage, and where opinions in the thread split was over whether changes like Combination Arts now triggering per-character, Counter (Mikiri) being capped at four slots, and Commander Mode being scrapped push the series further down the mass-market simplification path that Revenge of the Seventh Planet took. The original was defined by its multiple-protagonist structure, where the characters you could recruit and the events that triggered varied depending on your choice of hero — meaning multiple playthroughs were effectively needed to see the full story. This new title, however, signals a policy of removing that very restriction, drawing attention as a change that cuts into one of the series’ core pillars.

  • Yui Murata: “Otoki-chan’s Bangs and Singing Gave Me Chills” — Sense of Crisis After ‘Shakunetsu’ Rehearsal

On Tsubaki Bunshogumi’s radio segment “Wota Mail,” Yui Murata sparked buzz on 5ch’s Hello! Project board by admitting that during rehearsals for “Shakunetsu,” seeing Otoki Nishimura’s singing and newly grown-out bangs up close for the first time left her blurting out “this is insane” (yabai, used here approvingly) — a genuine sense of crisis. Co-stars Tanimoto and Doi also chimed in, agreeing that Otoki has leveled up. While most thread comments welcomed Otoki’s growth, the conversation broadened into a debate over generational change across Tsubaki as a whole — “so who rises next?” — with an ongoing back-and-forth comparing the singing and dancing skills of younger members like Murata and Taguchi.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

“Wota Mail” is a segment on Tsubaki Bunshogumi’s own radio show where members read out fan reactions, and “Shakunetsu” is known as a demanding track for both dance and vocals. The thread started from Yui Murata’s comment that she was struck by Otoki Nishimura’s singing and grown-out bangs (a change in her look) while rehearsing the song, and expanded from praise for Otoki personally into a broader debate about generational change across Tsubaki, as well as comparisons of members’ singing and dancing skills. Opinion split most sharply over “who will become the core of the next generation” — with Murata and Taguchi both floated as potential successors to Maopin (Akiyama) — while dissatisfaction with some current top members also surfaced. Readers should note that any “scandals” or assessments of specific members’ popularity and skill mentioned in the replies are strictly fan speculation and rumor, not confirmed facts.

*This article is composed as an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “[Good News] Yui Murata Feels a Sense of Crisis: “The First Time I Saw Otoki Nishimura’s Bangs and Singing at the Shakunetsu Rehearsal, I Got Chills — This Is Insane”.”

Watching their solo work, they clearly can sing while dancing.
It ended up that way out of deference to Johnny's — HIRO reportedly went to pay his respects to Mary Kitagawa (Johnny's then-VP) when putting EXILE together.

Background and Key Points of the Debate

The “100-million-yen Record Award scandal” that kept resurfacing in the thread refers to a real 2017 incident in which Kanou Gendai, then the top official of the Japan Record Award, publicly accused Suo Ikuo — head of major talent agency Burning Production — of treating the award as his personal property, naming him directly. The fact that non-Johnny’s boy groups like Sandaime JSB and EXILE repeatedly won awards and appeared at the Record Award and Kohaku Uta Gassen throughout the 2010s has been a recurring point of contention ever since that accusation, and this thread revisited it by comparing it with similar cases involving other agencies, such as Hello! Project. Opinion split, however, over where LDH itself stands: some argued the agency benefited from the decline of the old Johnny’s empire, while others countered that LDH — a joint venture between Burning Production and Ken-On — was already privileged from the start and is actually losing out as Johnny’s collapses. Note that the reported “2029 disbandment” comes from Weekly Bunshun’s reporting, not an official announcement from the agency or the members themselves, and is treated as a separate matter from the concurrent reports of Tosaka Hiroomi’s marriage.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “【Bunshun】Sandaime J Soul Brothers to Disband in 2029.”

  • Between fan activities, daily reports to the “Boss” — 5ch: “Is it payday or something?”

In Hello! Project-related 5ch chat threads, there’s a running custom of posting daily reports on meals and health check-ins to someone the posters call “the Boss.” In this thread, photos kept rolling in — CoCo Ichibanya butter chicken curry, fried rice mixed with teriyaki-tamago rice — along with body-composition scale readings, each one met with quips like “Is it payday or something?” and “Your visceral fat level’s pretty low, huh.” Partway through, news of the cancellation of Chofu City’s fireworks festival also flowed in, capturing the distinctly 5ch mix of idle chat and current events.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

The cancellation of the “41st Chofu Fireworks Festival” mentioned in the thread is a real announcement made by the Chofu Fireworks Executive Committee at 20:00 on September 11, 2026. The event, originally scheduled for September 12, was cancelled with no postponement after rising river water levels caused by rainfall made it impossible to set up the launch site. Hello! Project-related chat threads on 5ch are characterized by local news and weather updates flowing in alongside meal reports and photo posts in exactly the same tone, and this thread is no exception. The relay of reports to “the Boss” is a form of 5ch culture in which everyday life is narrated live to a specific addressee; while there’s no major point of contention in the content itself, exchanges — like the one about insurance payouts after disaster flooding — sometimes drift from everyday topics into more general griping.

  • Naps Are Unlimited — 5ch: “Sensei Hori Has Transcended All Living Things”

In the late-night thread “Fuyajō” (“Castle That Never Sleeps”) on 5ch’s “Whatever’s On Live” board (Nandemo Jikkyo G), regulars kept the chat going all night under the house rule “you can nap as many times as you want.” What started as a joking watch over who was dozing off drifted, with no particular logic, into a quiz guessing Pokémon move sets, and then into talk about a manga production scene so wild that “Sensei Hori has transcended all living things.” Keeping the same laid-back late-night vibe the whole way through, the chat rolled on unbroken until morning.

    Background and Talking Points

“Fuyajō” is a common nickname for all-night threads on 5ch’s “Whatever’s On Live” board (Nandemo Jikkyo G), referring to the loose, freewheeling chatter among regulars who camp out from late night into early morning. The opening rule, “you can nap as many times as you want,” appears to be an unspoken convention so that going quiet for a while doesn’t get you treated as having left — a reflection of the particular culture of these overnight threads. The “Sensei Hori” who keeps popping up throughout isn’t given any specific backstory in the text, which suggests it’s an in-joke that only makes sense within this particular community. Another notable feature is the mini-game of guessing Pokémon move sets that crops up out of nowhere, a sign that the thread isn’t so much digging into one topic as building up through a steady pile-up of small talk.

  • Wanna Go Back to 1985: 5ch Users Say ‘Japan Partied Every Single Day Back Then’

A thread that began with the post “Going to sleep now — hope I wake up back in 1985” got posters who lived through the era sharing their Showa-period memories one after another. The fragments piled up: how the catchphrase in the Sazae-san anime had switched to “Luxury is wonderful,” the shock of seeing Gradius and Space Harrier at the arcade, and the long lines for Bikkuriman chocolate. At the same time, cooler heads chimed in with “Going back would just mean living the exact same life over again” and “Games and entertainment were actually worse back then” — and that gap between nostalgia and reality became the thread’s central tension.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

The “1985” discussed in this thread actually falls just before Japan’s full-blown bubble economy (the extreme surge in land and stock prices) truly kicked off. The yen’s appreciation following that year’s Plaza Accord triggered monetary easing, and land prices are generally said to have accelerated from around 1987 onward, with the so-called “bubble economy” peaking in the late 1980s. That means the thread’s shared memory of “a festival atmosphere every day” is probably better understood as an impression blending the back half of the ’80s rather than 1985 specifically. The thread also shows a split between those who say “going back would just mean reliving the same painful life” and those who insist “that era was the peak” — worth noting, though it’s not addressed directly in the posts, is that this nostalgia for the past likely stemmed not so much from how high the standard of living actually was, but from a sense of optimism about the future and the novelty of the entertainment available at the time.

  • Liella!’s Prolonged Slump: 5ch Says the Only Fix Is to Go All-In on ‘Low-Status Men’

A thread titled “The story of Liella!, now the weakest group in the series, begins its climb back from here” appeared on 5ch’s Love Live! board. With new anime and manga releases drying up, fans argued over how to turn Liella! around. Some said the group should narrow its focus to its core fanbase and change its musical direction; others said it should give its sub-units clearer, more distinct identities the way other groups do. Still, pessimistic voices pushed back, saying “we’re long past the point where the music alone can fix this,” and the thread never reached a consensus.

My bad for assuming this was an anti-fan thread — it's actually a pretty reasonable take.
Maybe they should lean harder into selling the cast (voice actors) as personalities too.

    Re: #6
The only way is to target balding middle-aged guys and low-status men (a Japanese term for socially/economically disadvantaged men). Forget the 'family-friendly, general audience' approach — that's trying to turn a 0 into a 1. Turning an existing 10 into a 20 is Liella!'s real path back to life.
    9AnonymousSep 11, 2026 18:41
As for the music, there'd be no problem at all if they just covered 'Snow Halation' (a classic μ's song) at a live show.
Sure, it'd stir up backlash afterward, but the people who'd complain don't spend money on Liella! anyway, so just ignore them.

    Re: #9
That's dead-on, but honestly, no group — Star (Liella!) included — has the guts to actually pull that off…
    15AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:08
I think the biggest problem is the music, so they should completely overhaul the sound.
    16AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:12
    Re: #15
They've been running the same playbook for six years, and even the cast themselves have been asking for songs with more of that flashy energy, but nothing's improved at all — at this point just covering 'KNOT' would be faster.
    18AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:15
There's no doubt Star's songs are absolute garbage-tier, but we're long past the point where the music alone can fix this.
    20AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:18
    Re: #18
That's probably true, but doing something still beats doing nothing.
With no anime and the manga cancelled, all they can do otherwise right now is sit around and wait to die.
    67AnonymousSep 11, 2026 21:12
    Re: #18
They finally brought in Takezawa (a songwriter), but it was way too late.
    19AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:16
Nijigasaki's high-energy songs were designed from the ground up purely to hype up a crowd, so they wouldn't actually showcase what Liella! is good at performance-wise.
They should be ruled out as cover options.
    21AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:21
    Re: #19
Maybe so, but if you don't have any hype cards of your own, you have to borrow them from elsewhere.
It's like starting a trading card deck — you throw in something like Blue-Eyes White Dragon even though it clearly doesn't fit your deck concept, just because you don't have anything better. That's basically where they're at.
    22AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:25
    Re: #19
They've been saying that this whole time, and look where it's gotten them. You only earn the right to lead with performance once you can actually compete on the songs themselves.
    24AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:27
To begin with, these girls' voices are hopelessly mismatched for hype-up songs.
    26AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:29
    Re: #24
    Ouch, can't argue with that.
Go a little easier on them.
    27AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:29
Still better than Nijigasaki, which has zero demand, or 'Ikizu-Live' (a mocking nickname — 'hard-to-live-with Live' — for a rival group), which only ever gets talked about for its live shows.
    29AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:31
    Re: #27
Sorry, this isn't the thread for that — take it elsewhere.
    28AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:31
This is more thought-out than I expected.
I also think they should unify everyone under the 'Suzuhara' route (going full cutesy-idol style, like that character).
    31AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:32
    Re: #28
If everyone became Suzuhara, that'd be the end…
Even if they need to prioritize low-status men, that doesn't mean the whole group has to go full 'aren't-I-cute' pandering mode.
    30AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:31
Love Live! used to be extremely reluctant about crossover collabs and covers between its groups — doing that is actually a pretty recent thing.
If they'd started crossover covers back during Aqours' peak, the groundwork for fans accepting it would be laid by now, but doing it this late just seems likely to invite backlash.
    32AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:34
    Re: #30
Yeah, it was right around 'Ijigen Live' (the 'Dimension' concert) that covers and shuffle units started happening.
The fact that the very first 'Love Live Fes' was basically just each group performing separately in one-third slots is still having lingering effects.
    34AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:36
The OP is also treating writing off the anime as a given premise from the start.

That mindset alone means it's not really Love Live! anymore.
    36AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:38
    Re: #34
It's not that we're writing it off — there's simply no more anime coming, so we have no choice but to treat it as a given. Sure, having it would be better, but you can't work with what you don't have.
    39AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:41
    Re: #34
I do genuinely feel bad that they got hit directly by COVID, but
they also never fully made the most of the material they had from three anime seasons.
    35AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:37
I want them to actually put the sub-units to use.
If they can't write new songs, covering other groups' sub-unit songs is definitely a viable option.
    40AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:41
    Re: #35
Personally I think the sub-units are the whole reason Liella! fell apart, so I want them scrapped for good.
Every sub-unit just feels like a scaled-down version of the full 11-member Liella! to me, and even if they did cover other groups' unit songs, you can't even picture which unit would take on AZALEA's songs or which would take on DiverDiva's, right?
    44AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:44
I honestly don't get what Star (Liella!) even wants to be going forward.
After the anime ended, all they gave us was variety shows and school-play-tier stage skits — don't come at me about the music after that.
    45AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:46
    Re: #44
    Seriously, so true.
Why are they pouring their limited resources into weird stuff like that — I DO NOT GET IT.
    46AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:49
As for the sub-units… even 'Ikizu-Live' (the rival group nicknamed for constantly making shuffle units) manages to give each shuffle unit its own distinct flavor every time, but Liella! barely manages that at all.
    48AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:55
    Re: #46
Someone compared it to 'Iron Chef' if all three Iron Chefs who showed up specialized in Japanese cuisine.
    49AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:57
    Re: #46
I question whether every unit needed to go for the 'cool' image. Management was probably thinking something like 'heh, we can make three Guilty Kisses!' but all they actually did was split Liella! into three pieces.
    71AnonymousSep 11, 2026 21:41
Within voice-actor units (even though they're not playing themselves as voice actors), they read as young, cute, and good at singing and dancing — but judged as general idols, they're not especially young, cute, or skilled at singing and dancing either.
Even if they ditch their in-show characters, they should stay within the anime-song (anisong) scene rather than leave it entirely.
There are examples of franchise-born units — like Milky Holmes, Earphones, or WUG (Wake Up, Girls!) — that went on to work outside their original franchise.
But none of them ever actually left the anisong scene.
If they're going to separate Liella! from 'Superstar!!', the best move is to make it an independent anisong group — have them sing theme songs for other anime, etc.
Their audience is, after all, the anisong-listening crowd, not the general public.
    73AnonymousSep 11, 2026 21:44
    Re: #71
Even if they tried to get tie-in themes for other anime, their voices are way too lacking in distinct character for anyone to actually cast them — these are Liella!, not Aqours, remember?
    74AnonymousSep 11, 2026 22:16
    Re: #71
Love Live! fans go easy on the cast and shower them with praise, but other fandoms aren't like that — if they're not skilled or don't show respect for the source material, they'll get torn apart without mercy.
If the cast has the resolve to take that beating and the actual skill to win over other franchises' fans, I'd love to see it, but honestly I think it's a stretch.
    81AnonymousSep 11, 2026 22:38
What about putting real effort into YouTube?
Every time, run a project like hand-selling CDs at Aeon (a supermarket chain) through YouTube, with some reward if they hit their goal — really commit to it.
Honestly, I ended up liking a certain idol group after seeing a video of its members grinding hard on YouTube.
    83AnonymousSep 11, 2026 22:45
    Re: #81
I don't think that'd work. The ones who want to make it as individuals already have their own channels, and it's way easier to just get showered with praise on TikTok — that makes it a tough sell.
I can't see them sticking with the grind.
    84AnonymousSep 11, 2026 22:48
    Re: #81
Whatever they do, they'll just end up as a watered-down copy of 'Seihasu' (apparently a nickname for a rival group known for this).

Background and Key Points of Debate

Liella! is the fictional school idol group featured in the anime “Love Live! Superstar!!” The Love Live! franchise runs several real-life performing units — μ’s, Aqours, Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, and Liella! — and in recent years, cross-group song covers and collaborations have started happening between them. What split opinion in the thread was whether the group should stick with its existing family-friendly, general-audience approach or pivot hard toward its core fanbase — a debate that recurs again and again around how to market idol content. It’s also worth noting that framings like “weakest in the series” or “anime and manga output has stalled” reflect the subjective impressions of posters in the thread, not externally verified facts.
