  • BEYOOOOONDS’ ‘Haito’ Keeps Trending — But 5ch Is Split: ‘Their Other Songs Are Goofy-Skit Hell, and Unlike Juice=Juice They’ve Got No Back Catalog to Hook You’

What had the Hello! Project board buzzing was a back-and-forth over whether BEYOOOOONDS’ new single “Haito” can hold onto its momentum now that the initial buzz has settled. Against the skeptical view that “Haito is great, but every other song is stuck in the group’s goofy comedy-skit style, so there’s nothing to pull you in,” came a wave of pushback: the song is still trending on X a week after release, its live-performance clip keeps racking up views, and the gap with Morning Musume’s new single is closing in on 100,000 views — hardly a slump, they argued, but real momentum. The talk spread into comparisons with Juice=Juice, who once weathered the same goofy-comedy phase, and even spilled over into reviews of Tsubaki Factory’s new song.

    Well, yeah, obviously.
You think "Haito" is good, then go listen to their other songs and it's straight-up goofy hell.

Juice=Juice is strong because they "built it up over time"

"The original Juice=Juice lineup basically burned out right after their first Budokan show, and the tour that followed was rough going.
Just as Juice=Juice was about to slide into the goofy-comedy lane, bringing in the powerhouse vocalist Dambara turned things around.
So the goofy-comedy role ended up falling to BEYOOOOONDS instead."

I'm an oshi for another group, but seeing BEYOOOOONDS' "Haito" medley at Hina Fes made me think they were pretty good — I just couldn't get into them because so many of their other songs are packed with little comedy skits.
And the second you say anything even mildly critical about the skits, their fans pile on, so it turns into this exhausting "Hello! Project fan" cycle — the fans themselves end up dragging the group down.
    26AnonymousSep 11, 2026 19:05
The only BEYOOOOONDS songs I actually liked were "Haito" and "Yume Sae"

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The premise driving the thread — that the song “quickly lost steam” — is itself contested within it, with pushback like “it’s been a week since it blew up on X, and the live-performance clip’s view count keeps climbing,” so opinions differ on whether its popularity is actually fading. There are broadly two points of contention: one is the argument that BEYOOOOONDS’ signature comedic “goofy-skit” style of songs makes it hard to hook new listeners; the other is a comparison with how Juice=Juice built up support after going through a similar phase. The discussion also branched off into reviews of other groups’ new songs, like Tsubaki Factory’s, and grievances about the agency’s handling of member casting. Note that the numbers cited here are based purely on posters’ impressions within the thread, not verified against official sales or view-count data.

  • Praise and Concern Pour In for Streamer Hori Daisuke’s “30 Minutes of Sleep a Day” Broadcast

Hori Daisuke became the talk of the “Nandemo Jikkyo G” board (a 5channel forum tied to the “Live Galileo” livestreaming board) during a project in which he’s broadcasting his entire daily life, nonstop, for a full week. He’s reportedly kept going on roughly 30 minutes of sleep a day while still doing frequent collab streams, work, and weight training. Viewers were stunned, with comments like “his speech is totally clear and he’s still keeping up with chat” — while others worried about his health, asking “isn’t he out of breath just sitting there?” and “wouldn’t his blood pressure be spiking?” Some suspected he was counting mid-stream dozing as official sleep time, and a few posts mocked his thinning hair. Overall, the thread was a mix of admiration, suspicion, and concern.

There was that head-spa incident on day 3, but — running on 1 hour of total sleep while doing intense workouts, frequent collabs, his own job, AND keeping up with chat replies every single day — isn't that genuinely impressive????

    18AnonymousSep 11, 2026 18:57
Somehow it's become accepted that any time he accidentally passes out gets converted into his daily sleep quota, but he didn't fall asleep on purpose, so that shouldn't count — those aren't the rules.

What time do you actually finish work?

    Background and Points of Debate

This project falls into a genre of “up-close” livestreams that broadcast someone’s entire daily life without cuts — and the more extreme the sleep deprivation on display, the more viewer attention it tends to draw. Where the thread split was on how to interpret the short sleep itself: as “talent or a rare physical trait” versus as “performance for the camera.” Medically speaking, people who can genuinely function on roughly 30 minutes of sleep a day — so-called “short sleepers” — are said to be extremely rare, and it isn’t something most people can train themselves into through practice. That’s why some users questioned whether time spent dozing off mid-stream was being folded into his official sleep count. At the same time, the thread also drew in posts from farmers who work on just a few hours of sleep during their busy season, with some arguing that extreme short sleep isn’t actually all that unusual. Note that this article simply relays statements made in the thread and does not verify his actual sleep duration or health condition.

  • Mizuki Fukumura’s Solo Fan Event Venue Set: Kita-topia Sakura Hall (Approx. 1,300 Seats)

On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, the venue for Mizuki Fukumura’s commemorative bar event — held following her graduation from Morning Musume. — became a hot topic. The venue is Kita-topia Sakura Hall, with a capacity of about 1,300 seats. According to data posted in the thread, her past events had capacities of 1,497 seats for her 2024 comeback event and 750 seats for her 2025 show at Tower Hall Funabori, which made the scale of this new venue stand out. Opinions were divided, though, over whether the seats would actually sell out, and over where the gap in drawing power compared to other graduated members comes from.

Last year was a lottery-rejection fest, so they probably scaled it back up because of that.

    Background and Talking Points

The term “M-line” used in the thread refers to the small-scale fan events (commonly called “bar events”) that individual members hold after graduating from Morning Musume. Venue capacity is decided by organizers based on factors like advance reservation numbers, so it isn’t simply a straightforward measure of a popularity ranking. In the thread, posters pointed to cases like Ishida’s most recent show having leftover same-day tickets, and Miyamoto’s show having noticeably empty seats, contrasting these with the expanded capacity chosen for Fukumura’s venue. Some questioned the fairness of how venues get selected, but it’s a difficult subject to judge actual drawing power from comparisons like these alone.

Project threads, speculation ran wild over why she left a job she’d called her dream so quickly, with some pointing to low hourly wages and the notoriously high turnover rate in the grooming industry, while others tied it to circumstances within the group.

    Background and Discussion Points

Dog grooming is a trade in demand, but it’s often cited as low-paying, physically demanding work with a high turnover rate. As noted in the thread, certification comes in three tiers — Class C, B, and A — with only Class A or above qualifying someone to actually cut hair in a shop. Commenters offered a mix of takes: some pointed to industry-wide factors like low hourly wages and the harsh realities of working with animals, while others speculated it was tied to the group’s circumstances or a change of heart on her part. Worth noting, though, that none of this comes from the person herself or her agency — it remains speculation from 5ch users.

  • Komeo’s Restaurant Kept No Hygiene Log — Swab Test Detects Staph Bacteria

In the food-poisoning case involving a customer who ate “chilled crab ramen” at a restaurant run by YouTuber Komeo, it has been reported that the restaurant failed to keep the daily hygiene records required by law, and that a swab test of the premises detected Staphylococcus aureus (staph bacteria). In an interview, Komeo said that even if this means he can no longer keep the restaurant running, he wants his own experience to help raise hygiene awareness across the restaurant industry. On 5ch, opinions split between defenders and critics, with debate centering on whether a home kitchen is really any more sanitary, and on references to a person said to be an investor in the restaurant.

Regarding the “chilled crab ramen” that caused the food poisoning, it has come to light that the restaurant had not been keeping the legally required hygiene management records.

Komeo, the restaurant’s owner, spoke with our program.

“If you take cooking away from me, there’s nothing left of me, so even if this ends up forcing me to shut this restaurant down, I hope to stand in front of customers again someday. I also want to share my real experience with restaurant owners everywhere, so I’d like to put out a message that helps raise hygiene awareness across every restaurant in Japan.”

Background and Key Points of This Story

Hygiene management logs are part of the HACCP-based sanitation framework that became fully mandatory in 2021, requiring restaurants to record details like cooking and storage temperatures every day. Staphylococcus aureus is a common bacterium found on the skin and in the nasal passages of many people; a frequent misunderstanding is that it’s not the bacterium itself but the toxin (enterotoxin) it produces as it multiplies in food that actually causes the poisoning. In the thread, opinions split over whether a home kitchen’s hygiene can fairly be compared to a commercial restaurant’s, with some pointing out that businesses taking customers’ money carry legal responsibilities that households don’t. There were also unverified comments touching on an alleged investor and past incidents, but since these couldn’t be substantiated, this article does not cover them.

In the latest chapter of “Kingdom,” Hi Shin Unit’s Ka Ryo Ten is drawn into a scene where she’s nearly attacked by an enemy, sparking a flood of reactions on 5ch the moment it dropped. Discussion centered on Ka Ryo Ten’s shrinking role in the story as combat-focused characters like Kyou Kai take the spotlight, plus whether one particularly risqué line of dialogue was appropriate — though plenty of replies veered off-topic entirely, posting photos of Kanna Hashimoto (who plays Ka Ryo Ten in the live-action films) and Masami Nagasawa (who plays You Tanwa), with the thread often getting more excited about the cast than the manga itself.

Movie's You Tanwa! → WOOOOO Masami Nagasawa!!

    The main heroine… movie's Kyou Kai! → uh… woo…

    Background and Talking Points

“Kingdom” has been a hit historical manga for over a decade, with an ongoing live-action film series. In this scene, Ka Ryo Ten — who serves as a strategist-like figure within Hi Shin Unit — is cornered by an enemy general, and the thread was split on how much she actually contributes to the story. Some argued she still fills a valuable role as the exposition/reaction character, while others felt her presence has faded as combat-focused characters like Kyou Kai have risen in prominence — arguably reflecting how her original heroine role from early in the series has shifted as the story has grown into more of an ensemble narrative. How far this storyline goes remains to be seen in future chapters and was still undetermined at the time of writing.

  • Tapping the gas pump nozzle against the fuel filler: 5ch says “it’s brass, so no sparks fly”

The habit of lightly tapping a gas pump nozzle against the fuel filler neck with a “tonk tonk” sound became a hot topic on 5ch’s News VIP board. It started with someone pointing out that tapping the filler opening with the tip of the nozzle might generate sparks and lead to ignition. In the thread, a former gas station attendant said they’d “never given it a second thought,” while others countered with testimony like “back in the full-service era, we were taught never to do that,” splitting opinion. Commenters also noted that the nozzle is made of brass, a material designed to resist sparking, and that while Japan’s high humidity makes static-electricity ignition unlikely, videos of fires breaking out this way are often seen overseas.

    Wouldn't this solve it?
Bad at talking to attendants → go self-service
Don't get how the machine works → go full-service

    Background and points of debate

Under Japan’s Fire Service Act, self-service gas stations are required to have customers touch a static-discharge sheet before fueling, among other anti-static rules. The fact that the tip of the fueling nozzle is made of brass or another non-ferrous metal is also said to be a deliberate design choice, meant to keep sparks from forming even if it rubs against the filler neck. The claim circulating in the thread that “tapping the nozzle against it won’t produce sparks” appears to be based on this design. On the other hand, footage of fires caused by static electricity at gas stations overseas frequently goes viral, and some point to the dry, low-humidity climate abroad as a contributing factor. In the thread, opinions split because two separate questions got tangled together: the manners-based question of whether it’s okay to deliberately ignore a stated safety precaution no matter how tiny the actual fire risk is, and the scientific question of just how big or small that risk really is.

  • Can’t Quit Going to Sekkyaba Clubs: 5ch Thread — “The Day After I Go, I Already Want to Go Back”

A thread on 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo G” (Whatever Live) board blew up after a poster confessed he can’t stop visiting sekkyaba clubs — hostess bars where staff flirt and allow some physical contact but stop short of sex. Going once a week, the original poster admitted the clubs have become his “third place as a middle-aged guy,” and other users chimed in to compare them with soaplands and deriheru (outcall escort services). The discussion ranged widely: why a “no sex” business model can be so addictive, the gap in mindset with guys who prefer men’s massage parlors instead, and even a confession from a married man secretly still visiting while his wife is pregnant. Posters traded tips on how to enjoy the clubs and debated how often was too often.

Yesterday's sekkyaba trip was kind of a bust.
The girl I wanted was already booked by someone else, so I went in as a walk-in and cycled through 4 girls, but every single one had something off — either looks or service.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Sekkyaba (short for “sexy cabaret club”) operates under Japan’s license for food-and-drink entertainment businesses, which legally places it in a different category from soaplands and deriheru — both classified as “adult entertainment special businesses.” On paper, sekkyaba clubs are not supposed to involve actual intercourse. As one poster put it, “it’s just kissing and boobs, so it’s fine” — the trade-off for this limited scope of contact is that prices tend to be cheaper. Where opinions in the thread diverged was over why this “no sex” business model can be even more addictive than soaplands: posters pointed to the unpredictability of each visit, since the outcome is never quite the same, as well as a difference in values between those who go purely for the human connection with the women and those who prefer men’s massage parlors or deriheru instead. The thread also included a confession about a poster going too far with a former girlfriend and the legal trouble that followed, but since that touches on an actual incident and possible legal proceedings, it has been left out of this article.

  • Retired at 40 With ¥30 Million Saved — 5ch Debates Whether That’s Really Enough to FIRE

A post appeared on 5ch reading, “A friend of mine retired at 40 with ¥30 million in savings and is living the good life — 8 hours of sleep, coffee, the gym, and public baths.” The post sparked a heated thread over whether ¥30 million is actually enough to FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early). Some argued that, factoring in the pension eligibility age and inflation, you’d need at least ¥150 million, while others pointed out it could work depending on how the money is invested. Opinions also split over a more fundamental question: if you’re not investing the money and just drawing it down, can that really be called “FIRE” at all?

Background and Key Points of Debate

FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) is, in principle, meant to cover living expenses through investment returns — under the commonly cited “4% rule,” the rule of thumb is having roughly 25 times your annual living expenses saved up. The thread’s observation that “if you’re living on ¥3 million a year, ¥30 million runs out in 10 years” cuts to the heart of the debate: if you’re not investing and simply drawing the money down, that’s not really FIRE — it’s just early retirement funded by a shrinking savings account. That distinction is where opinions in the thread diverged most. On pensions, commenters also raised the system that reduces payouts for early claiming (e.g., at age 60) and the trend toward a later eligibility age, though the thread didn’t get into specific reduction rates or program details. The oft-cited figure of “¥150 million needed” is likewise just one benchmark that shifts depending on assumed living standards and inflation — reading it as the single correct answer would be a misunderstanding.

Apparently they originally wanted to work in the character for "princess" (姫).
Peach blossoms are considered a very auspicious flower, and "princess" carries the wish for her to grow up as cute — and as kind-hearted — as an actual princess.
If it hadn't been "Momoko," it would've been "Jasmine"!
Apparently "Lemon Princess" and "Strawberry Princess" were also on the table (lol)

When asked for something "foreign," is there really no member who goes with a Chinese- or Korean-style name?

Miyo-chan's "Sheila" comes from The Poe Clan (Moto Hagio)

So Miyo-chan's trying to eat a young gentleman, huh (a nod to the vampire lore in The Poe Clan)
    41AnonymousSep 11, 2026 14:43
Everyone else goes Western, so throwing in an Asian-style name is deliciously savage — love it

Wait, so Hana Kojima was the "nose member" all along?!
    60AnonymousSep 11, 2026 16:00
Actually, Ogata-san's family decided on "Risa" at a family meeting for the time being,
but while they were still debating which kanji to use, her grandpa went ahead and registered it in katakana as "Risa" without asking anyone

Background and key points of this discussion

“Hello! Q&A” is a daily question segment run on Hello! Project’s official social media, and the same prompts often resurface every few years. This time’s topic, “a foreign-style name,” was also asked back in November 2021, and the main point of discussion in this thread was fans noticing that Saya Eguchi’s answer had changed from “Kimue Gucci” to “Chan Saya.” It’s also a recurring pattern on 5ch that, when asked for something “foreign-style,” members’ answers lean not just Western but also toward Korean- or Chinese-sounding names — taken as harmless wordplay rather than anything with deeper meaning. Some members’ answers also turned out to be drawn from character names in Moto Hagio’s manga “The Poe Clan,” showing they weren’t just off-the-cuff ideas but references to existing works. Comparing current answers against past ones is a familiar pastime in Hello! Project fan threads, and it’s one way fans enjoy tracking how members have grown or changed over time.

※This article was compiled from excerpts and a summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Q. “If you were to give yourself a foreign-style name?” — Saya Eguchi says “Chan Saya”.”
