Shunsuke Sakuma Gives Announcer Rio Kitagawa Some Real Advice — Hikaru Ijuin: ‘I Want the Young Women to Hear This’

From our other sites

The story

A TV Tokyo program featured a scene in which writer-producer Shunsuke Sakuma gave advice to announcer Rio Kitagawa, a former member of Morning Musume. ’22, and the clip went viral on social media. A post describing Hikaru Ijuin’s reaction — “I want the young women at my agency to hear this” — was then shared on 5ch’s Hello! Project board. The thread’s discussion ranged well beyond the actual advice itself, touching on Kitagawa’s new duties since October hosting segments like “Tore Tama neo” on “WBS,” and how her current standing compares with former groupmates Marai Makino and Tsubasa Hasumi — with reactions to the surrounding backstory outweighing talk of the advice itself.

Even after 'graduating' and acting all serious, I guess it's just her fate to keep getting dragged into entertainment bits — can't be helped.

I'm a trash stock trader who watches WBS almost every day, and it's still weird seeing Kitagawa show up on it.

Re: #1
Getting to interact with Sakuma? That's first-class treatment.
11AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:20
I was surprised to see Kitagawa casually appearing on WBS.

Re: #11
She's been hosting "Tore Tama neo" every Thursday since October.

Starting in October, I'll be in charge of:

▫WBS Tore Tama neo (every Thursday)
▫Morning Satellite Saturday (every other Saturday)
▫Ii eeeee Park (narration, every Sunday) (a TV Tokyo variety segment)

Unless TV Tokyo specifically told him 'don't bring up anything about Hello! Project,' if it's Sakuma, he'll probably touch on her Morning Musume days.

Re: #12
At a TV Tokyo event, a Yoshimoto comedian teased assistant Kitagawa about her Morning Musume past, and she fired back a solid comeback.

Even in the follow-up recap they kept calling her "Kitagawa, formerly of Morning Musume."

Ever since Hasumi completely shut him down in that debate, Ijuin's lost all his spark and seems to have aged rapidly — kind of sad.

Re: #15
"How much longer are you gonna keep playing the humble underdog?" — that line hit way too hard.

Re: #15
Looks like it's Hello! Project's turn now.

Only in your head, man.

Re: #1
It's not in the archive yet? Which clip is it?
20AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:37
Panda-Kitagawa worked her black-and-white duality better than Yamazaki ever did (playing both the "good girl" and "savage" side, panda-style).
21AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:38
Sharing the screen with both Sakuma and Ijuin? That's pretty wild lol
23AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:40
I wonder if she's venting on some secret account right now like, 'ugh, some old geezer lecturing me, so annoying.'
24AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:41
Oh right, I saw her on WBS yesterday — she was eating tamago kake gohan (rice topped with raw egg).
36AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:56
Re: #24
Isn't that just a setup for her co-appearance on Dekabo?!
25AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:43
Murakami: "Not quite used to appearing solo yet?"
Kitagawa: "My self-introduction actually ran longer now than it did back then."
Murakami: "Right, because it was competitive."
Maruyama: "I get that feeling a bit! We were the same way as juniors."

That chat on "Arieheh Sekai" (variety show) the other day was clearly about her idol days, however you look at it.

Ijuin did say "the young women at my agency," and since it's Sakuma, who presumably knows about that whole incident, he'll probably bring it up. If anything, I think it could be a great opportunity for Kitagawa and her agency.

Re: #29
I don't hear much about young female talent at Horipro these days — about the only one is Sakura Inoue, who ended up filling the gap left after Kojiharu's dramatic fall from grace.
30AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:50
I'd love to see Sakuma seriously lecture Kitagawa like, "Show some respect for Makino!"
31AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:51
Re: #30
What reason would there even be to respect her, lol
32AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:51
Oyaki really likes Sakuma, huh — gratitude for having Aibon on his show? (nicknames fans use for idols)
50AnonymousOct 9, 2026 13:08
Re: #32
Oyaki's a Makino fan (wota), though.
33AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:52
Interesting that Sakuma, who helped out on Haromoni back in the day, is getting involved like this — though he didn't have much interaction with Konno.
34AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:53
Re: #17
In a way he picked a fight with someone even more trouble than Soshina, so he'd better be ready for some real pushback.
35AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:55
Announcer Kitagawa has already appeared alongside Akira Kawashima, Hasumi, and Sakuma at an event hosted by Kawashima.
39AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:58
Re: #35
Announcer Kitagawa was the moderator for the Ijuin vs. Hasumi discussion.
41AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:59
Re: #35

Saturday: appeared with Makino on "Lovit Rock"
Sunday: appeared with Kitagawa at the "drinking with a dictionary" event
Monday: appeared with Makino on the live "Lovit" broadcast

This would drive even Akira Kawashima crazy — realizing the same group produced two such polar-opposite members.
37AnonymousOct 9, 2026 12:57
Ijuin's taken subtle shots at Makino before, so he and Kitagawa might actually get along.
45AnonymousOct 9, 2026 13:02
Re: #37
'Mr. Chiton' (a mocking 5ch nickname for Ijuin) is a Fighters fan, so he treats Makino almost like an acquaintance — but he clearly can't stand Shinjo as a manager.
44AnonymousOct 9, 2026 13:02
Kawashima might have a vague idea about it, but since they're not personally close, he probably doesn't give it much thought — he didn't even show up to the graduation concert.
46AnonymousOct 9, 2026 13:03
Compared to other former members grinding it out at live houses in front of creepy otaku, she's such a winner.
47AnonymousOct 9, 2026 13:05
Makino's also landing gigs these days as a celebrity known for loving manga and anime.
51AnonymousOct 9, 2026 13:10
Maybe Ijuin senses that Kitagawa — sharp, able to throw out biting remarks, and even self-destructive at times — is closer to his own old stance than anyone else.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Announcer Rio Kitagawa is a former member of Morning Musume. ’22 who, after graduating, transitioned into a career as a TV Tokyo announcer. The program clip shared in the thread was essentially a preview of a scene where Shunsuke Sakuma gives her advice, and since the specific content of that advice wasn’t included, discussion in the thread drifted away from “what the advice actually was” and toward Kitagawa’s career background and the people around her. Comparisons were drawn with former groupmates such as Marai Makino (now thriving in variety shows) and Tsubasa Hasumi (known for a debate with Ijuin), along with how she handled teasing about her Morning Musume past at a TV Tokyo event — all feeding into discussion of her position as an announcer with an idol background. Note that mentions of a “secret account” refer to previously reported personal topics and were not presented as confirmed fact even within the thread, so that exchange has been excluded from this article.
