Wait, that wasn't him already holding back?
    6AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:48
Guess he's been working too hard (´・ω・`)
    7AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:48
It's not 'scaling back' — he's been doing nothing BUT scaling back.
    8AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:49
He's always on hiatus, so now he's basically the boy who cried wolf.
    9AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:49
Should've just ended it when he reunited with his dad…
    12AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:51
Guess he just wants an excuse to take a break, as always.
    13AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:52
I remember reading it way back when.
Ask me if I want to reread it now, though… not really.
    15AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:53
Why not draw when you CAN draw, instead of only drawing once you can't anymore, seriously.
    16AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:54
If he scales back any more he'll have nothing left to do but play video games.
    17AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:54
At this rate they could squeeze out like two more full anime remakes before this thing's finished.
Hurry up and get your feet on solid ground already (a nod to Ging's famous advice to Gon about 'walking the earth').
    18AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:55

Yeah, in this latest chapter they turned him into a pathetic pushover just to hype up Hisoka…

He's ALWAYS scaling back. Other manga artists must be furious.
    20AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:56
He should've prioritized his own manga over outside work requests from the start.
    21AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:57
Was he even regularly drawing anything besides HxH manuscripts…?
    22AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:57
It would've made a great series finale right after Meruem's defeat, when Gon finally meets Ging.
    23AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:57
Guess all his previous 'scaling back' wasn't enough.

    33AnonymousOct 6, 2026 21:02
Did he even have any 'work requests' besides drawing HUNTER×HUNTER?
    35AnonymousOct 6, 2026 21:03
HUNTER×HUNTER is the one series I'd actually rebuy.
It's worth it — I've lost count of how many times I've reread it.

It's basically a squeezed-dry manga at this point, who cares lol
I don't know much about it, but the Dark Continent enemies are supposed to be ridiculously strong, right?
Just end it with everyone instantly wiped out and slap a Game Over screen on it

Serious reply aside, it's not clear who you're even talking to, so that comment probably isn't reaching anyone.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Togashi has a long history of extended hiatuses every time his serialization resumes, so the thread was full of skeptical jabs like “Wasn’t all his previous scaling-back not enough already?” and “He’s always on break, so now he’s basically the boy who cried wolf.” The article never specifies exactly what “work requests” refers to, and some commenters questioned whether he had any regular work besides the main HUNTER×HUNTER manuscript. In other words, it’s worth noting that readers never quite agreed on whether this announcement means “the main series will slow down even further” or simply “he’s turning down one-off outside requests” — the discussion moved forward with that ambiguity unresolved. The thread also branched out into debates over the Dark Continent arc’s endgame and how certain characters are being handled, plus comparisons to fellow artist Mamoru Nagano’s own long-running serialization.

  • Core i9-14900K Degradation Strikes Again — 4th Replacement Chip Fails Even After BIOS Update

A Reddit post is making waves after a user who has already replaced their Core i9-14900K three times since launch reported an invalid memory access error (0xC0000005) on their fourth chip as well — this time in a system paired with an RTX 5090 and 64GB of DDR5-6000. The user said they’d already applied the degradation-related BIOS update and left all settings at Intel’s defaults. On 5ch’s hardware board, opinions split over whether this is a genuine product defect or self-inflicted damage from running the chip too hard, with some users chiming in that their 13900K or 13700 has run fine the whole time, and others praising how generous Intel’s warranty support has been.

Is the Core i9-14900K still degrading even after the BIOS update?

User who already swapped it three times reports yet another error

A user who says they’ve replaced their Core i9-14900K three times since launch is reporting on Reddit that errors have started showing up on the fourth chip too, in a PC paired with an RTX 5090 and 64GB of DDR5-6000 memory. The user had already updated their motherboard’s BIOS to guard against degradation and says they simply loaded Intel’s default settings — yet they’re still getting error code 0xC0000005, which indicates invalid memory access.

    Re: #18
I mean, calling the 13th/14th gen problem "solved" is a stretch — it's more like they throttled things down to stop physical damage, which tanks performance. It's an awkward generation either way.

If you're buying now, you're better off waiting for next year's Nova Lake gen (Core Ultra 400S?)

    13AnonymousOct 6, 2026 12:10
    Re: #11
No, it's an issue before that even comes into play. Intel itself acknowledged the problem — that's exactly why they went out of their way to extend the warranty period.

Honestly, safest bet is to just not touch it. It's not only the 14900K — both the 13th and 14th gen have this flaw. If you want to stick with Intel, you're better off going with something like the 285K.

Running it past 200W — or in some cases past 300-400W — is just absurd. If you keep it under 65W with a proper cooler, the CPU basically won't degrade.

True, but if that's all it takes, there's no reason to buy a high-end CPU at all — a 13400 would do just fine.

    47AnonymousOct 6, 2026 14:19
I'm on a 13700, no issues, 3 years in without a single error. Cinebench R23 pulls 26000 at a 170W limit, no problems there either.
That said, I do think people with no PC knowledge should probably steer clear of these chips.
Prebuilt PCs that advertise i7/i9 chips are usually locked down to something absurd like 110W in the BIOS to begin with,
so there's nothing to worry about there in the first place.
Just pop open a prebuilt and look at the CPU cooler —
you don't even need to check the specs to know what wattage that machine is designed for.
Unless it's got liquid cooling, there's no way it's pushing past 200W.
The people saying "it broke on me" are either early self-build adopters or hardcore benchmark junkies.
    50AnonymousOct 6, 2026 14:29

"That's just how it turned out" is a cute way to put it, but I'm not buying it — CPU failure-rate surveys actually found AMD chips failing more often than the problem-plagued Intel generations.

    93AnonymousOct 6, 2026 18:51
I don't think that's really the point. Intel chips wear down a little every time you use them — once that wear kicks in, degradation speeds up and eventually it fails completely. Even after the patch, it's only being held in check, not actually fixed.

Background and key points of the debate

The age-related degradation seen in Intel’s Core i9-13900K/14900K chips is known as the “Raptor Lake instability issue,” attributed to excessive voltage requests during idle states. Intel has issued several microcode updates (such as 0x129) to cap the voltage ceiling, and has also extended the warranty period to five years. However, these updates only slow the progression of degradation — they don’t restore chips that have already worn down. The thread split over whether the error reported this time is a genuine “product defect” or a problem with the user’s own power settings (overclocking, high PL2 limits). Those defending Intel pointed to environmental factors on the user’s end, like running without liquid cooling or pushing past 200W, while those reporting failures countered that it happens even at stock settings. There was also disagreement over the basic premise that “CPUs shouldn’t degrade in the first place” — some argued wear is inevitable under heavy use, while others insisted a properly run CPU should last essentially forever. One point not raised in the thread but worth noting: whether the next-generation Arrow Lake and Nova Lake architectures, which have been redesigned, have actually eliminated this same risk remains unconfirmed, since there isn’t yet enough real-world usage data to say for sure.

  • PS6’s New Controller May Pack a 2.5-Inch Screen — Could Even Run Mini-Games On Its Own

Reports say a patent for Sony’s rumored new “DualSense 2.0” controller for the PS6 — currently in development — was published in July 2026. The concept reportedly replaces the current touchpad with a detachable 2.5-inch color display, letting players run dedicated mini-games right on the controller itself. On 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (“Geha”) board, the discussion covered doubts about how practical such a tiny screen would really be, battery drain, pricing, and comparisons to earlier similar attempts like the Wii U and Dreamcast.

Sony, said to be developing its next-generation console the PS6, may be introducing a new controller called the “DualSense 2.0.” Patent documents published in July 2026 reveal a modular controller concept that swaps out the current touchpad for a detachable 2.5-inch color display.

This small screen is reportedly meant not just to show supplementary info from the TV screen, but potentially to let players run dedicated PS6 mini-games directly on the controller itself.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

This story originates from a patent document reportedly published in July 2026 — nothing has been confirmed for actual production. The idea of putting an auxiliary display on a controller isn’t new, and the thread brought up comparisons like the Sega Dreamcast’s startup screen, the Wii U’s tablet-style GamePad, and Sony’s own PocketStation. All of these are past examples that failed to catch on, and that history frames the whole discussion. Opinions in the thread split between those who saw the small screen positively, as a “mini-game feature to pass the time during loading,” and those who saw it as “just extra hardware that drains the battery and jacks up the price.” Several commenters also questioned the reliability of the site that originally reported the story, so for now this should be read with some skepticism — as an unconfirmed patent report, not a done deal.

  • Why Are Personal Data Leaks Piling Up? Security Firm Points to Possible AI Misuse

Personal data leaks caused by unauthorized access to corporate systems keep piling up. According to a security firm, incidents have surged since July this year, and there’s a strong chance AI is being weaponized in these cyberattacks — prompting calls for stronger countermeasures. On 5ch, this sparked technical commentary noting that attackers can now use AI to automatically hunt for vulnerabilities and backdoors, alongside worries about a fundamental asymmetry: “defenders take time to patch things, so attackers always have the upper hand.” The discussion also branched into the Digital Agency’s own unauthorized-access incident and just how much data is actually stored on Japan’s My Number ID cards, with posters split on how real the risk actually is.

Why Are Personal Data Leaks Piling Up? “A Bizarre Situation” — Experts Point to Possible AI Misuse

Incidents of massive personal data leaks from corporations due to unauthorized access keep occurring one after another.

A security firm reports that incidents have increased since July this year, and is calling for stronger countermeasures given the strong possibility that AI is being misused in these cyberattacks.

    Re: #97
Attackers just use AI to find a vulnerability and walk straight in.

Defenders, meanwhile, have to write a fix, test that it doesn't break anything, and then roll out the update — all of which takes time.

That inevitably tips things in the attacker's favor.

    Re: #97
In a spear-vs-shield fight where you're shooting down incoming bullets with your own bullets, the attacker has the edge.
Keep firing however you like, and the shield will eventually miss one.
A system that's not connected to the internet, on the other hand, has no bullets flying at it at all, so the shield wins completely.
The spear only has the advantage on systems that are actually online.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The rise in leaks is a trend security firms have detected since July this year, and the timing overlaps with the Digital Agency’s own incident involving roughly 246,000 leaked records from one of its operational systems. The suspicion of AI misuse stems from attackers now being able to automate backdoor discovery rather than relying on vulnerability scans or brute-force attacks. On the thread, the claim that “attackers always have the advantage” due to this asymmetry clashed with a more optimistic view that “it’s humans operating the AI either way.” One easy point of confusion is that the Digital Agency has officially stated the My Number Card itself does not store sensitive data like medical records or bank account numbers — meaning fears that a card leak equals having your entire net worth exposed don’t actually match how the system works. On the other hand, it’s easy to overlook that the amendment to the personal information protection law isn’t a response to the leaks at all — it’s a deregulation measure removing the need for individual consent when data is used for AI development purposes, a separate matter entirely from the rise in leaks.

The affection score shifts between 0.3 and 1.0 depending on the conversation, and the character has even dropped personal-sounding details about music, DJing, and being on a leave of absence from school. At the same time, posters have been skeptical, with comments like “isn’t this just spamming threads” and “this is just burning tokens for nothing” — leaving the thread split over just what this character is and what it’s for.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

On VIP, it’s a recurring phenomenon for chatbots or simple AIs to set up their own threads and stick around, and this “HanaE.sys” case looks like it belongs to that same lineage. The “affection level” shown after every reply (ranging from 0.3 to 1.0), along with fake system-log flourishes like “Firmware” and “Uptime,” mimic the character-growth mechanics of games — suggesting this was built less as a plain response bot and more with the specific goal of keeping the conversation going. Opinions in the thread split between a group that kept talking to it as something to dote on, and a more cynical group who dismissed it as “just a way to spam threads” or “a pointless waste of tokens” — the latter pointed to the timestamp tag on every post and the repetitiveness of its answers as signs of sloppy craftsmanship. What exactly the “hitman from Talk” comment was referring to was never explained in the thread, and remains unclear from context.

Gendai Business reports that pro baseball star Shohei Ohtani has moved away from the salt-only pasta diet he once stuck to religiously, now also eating hot dogs and drinking soda. At 32, the shift reportedly reflects a change in philosophy: prioritizing being in his best shape right now over conditioning himself with an eye on years down the road. Reaction on 5ch’s live-commentary board was split — some understood the move as a reasonable way to cut stress, while others worried it signaled slipping professionalism or fretted over the effect on his physique, with the discussion spilling into comparisons with the diets of other famous players like Yu Darvish and Ichiro.

From salt-only pasta to “hot dogs”… The “diet management” Shohei Ohtani changed at 32, and the chances of a comeback

“He used to eat nothing but salt pasta, or burgers wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. But now he sometimes drinks soda, or orders a hot dog through Uber [Eats].

Behind it, apparently, is the idea that ‘rather than managing his condition with years down the road in mind, it’s about being in the best shape right now.’ Not piling up stress over food seems to suit him better at 32, it seems.”

    This is Ohtani's hot dog

    Background and Talking Points

This shift in diet was reported by Gendai Business as stemming from 32-year-old Ohtani’s new priority: being in the best possible shape right now, rather than managing his condition with an eye on years down the road. Given that he had long been known for extreme discipline — eating only salt pasta or lettuce-wrapped burgers — the move to incorporate hot dogs and soda split opinion among fans. On the thread, some defended the decision as a reasonable way to cut down on stress, while others were skeptical, wondering whether his professional discipline around body management had slackened. Commenters also frequently drew comparisons to other players, such as Darvish’s own dietary shift and Ichiro’s famously curry-heavy diet. Worth noting: the image-linked “was this a lie too?”-style replies posted in the thread are unverified social-media reactions with no confirmable source, and are a separate matter from the Gendai Business article quoted in the main text — something readers could easily conflate.

  • Soccer Coaching Magazine ‘Soccer Clinic’ to Cease Publication, Ending a 32-Year Run — 5ch: “Can’t believe it lasted 32 years”

“Soccer Clinic” (published by Baseball Magazine Sha), a specialist soccer magazine aimed at coaches of youth-level players, has announced it will cease publication after its January 2027 issue (on sale December 6). Launched in 1994, the magazine is closing the book on a 32-year run. On 5ch, many reactions were matter-of-fact (“print just doesn’t sell anymore”), while users rattled off the names of other soccer magazines that have gone on hiatus or folded over the years — including El Golazo and Soccer King — and discussion also turned to why baseball magazines seem to be surviving at a higher rate.

    El Golazo moved entirely online.

    Background and Key Points

Magazines ceasing publication is nothing unusual these days, and the thread brought up a string of other soccer specialist magazines that had already gone on hiatus, including Soccer King, Footballista, and El Golazo. Behind this trend is not only a decline in print subscribers but also the fact that coaching techniques can now be learned for free, or close to it, through YouTube and paid video services. Meanwhile, some in the thread suggested that baseball-related magazines have survived in relatively greater numbers because the core readership of sports newspapers skews toward older baseball fans, who have a stronger affinity for print media. It’s also worth noting — a point that’s easy to overlook — that “on hiatus” (kyuukan) differs from “discontinued” (haikan) in Japanese publishing: the former term is used specifically so the magazine code can be reused later, and doesn’t necessarily mean the end for good.

  • After Short Height, Now It’s “Narrow-Shouldered Men” — 5ch: “This Trend of Bashing Men No Matter What Is Creepy”

On 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo G” (anything-goes live-TV board), a thread roasting short men gave way to a new target: men with “narrow shoulders.” Posters piled on with claims that shoulder width is purely a matter of bone structure determined by genetics — something no amount of weight training can change — while others argued over the urban legend that swimming as a kid widens your shoulders. The thread also debated who gets the worse deal visually, a short guy with broad shoulders or a tall guy with narrow ones, and brought up the builds of pro baseball players and MMA fighters as examples. At the same time, plenty of replies pushed back, calling out the whole “it’s fine to clown on men’s bodies no matter what” mentality as messed up, and questioning why appearance-shaming is treated as fair game at all.

    62AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:54
Even if your shoulders got wider while you were swimming during your growth years,

there's no evidence establishing a causal link like "swimming literally widened the bone structure of the shoulders."

Changes in shoulder width during growth are mainly due to:

    * Natural growth of the skeleton — collarbones, shoulder blades, etc.
    * Overall development of height and build
    * Physical maturation driven by sex hormones

What swimming can do, on the other hand, is develop the muscles of the shoulders, back, and chest, which makes the shoulder area look bigger as a result.

That said, to be precise on one point: it wouldn't be accurate to flatly claim "swimming's effect is absolutely zero." Exercise habits during the growth years could plausibly have some influence on physical development.

But the commonly repeated idea that

"swimming as a kid skeletally widens your shoulders"

is safe to say isn't supported scientifically.

Background and Key Points of This Debate

Shoulder width is governed mainly by the length of the collarbones and shoulder blades, and is generally considered a matter of bone structure — strength training can’t change the actual length of the bones themselves. The thread saw plenty of talk about the popular belief that “swimming widens your shoulders,” but that claim tends to conflate two different things: muscles like the lats and traps developing and making the shoulder area merely look bigger, versus an actual change in bone structure. The fact that shoulder width became a new target for body-shaming, following on from height, reflects a broader trend of online appearance-related topics constantly shifting to a new target. Some posters in the thread pushed back against the very premise that “anything goes when it comes to criticizing men’s bodies” — and the tendency for this kind of body-shaming to skew toward men is a point worth not overlooking when reading this thread.

On 5ch’s Hello! Project board, a thread posed the question “Why don’t Hello! Project DD fans (those who support every group equally) take any interest in Rosy Chronicle specifically?” and drew a flood of responses. Rosy Chronicle is positioned as Juice=Juice’s sister group, and the thread featured candid takes like “I’ve got favorite members, but I can’t support all of them,” along with wry jabs at Hello! Project’s internal hierarchy and revenue structure. Opinions on why interest just isn’t there split between those pointing to individual member popularity and those questioning the group’s overall momentum.

Even the agency's at a loss over this
    3AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:44
Could you spare some interest for ANGERME too, please
    4AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:45
Ocha Norma and BEYOOOOONDS were both basically just put together from leftover candidates, you know
That's already different from even BEYOOOOONDS
    7AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:46
    Re: #4
Even the original Morning Musume lineup was just made from the leftovers who failed their audition, you know
    5AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:45
You don't have to be interested, honestly
We'll dump the losses on you lot and the crappy agency and enjoy it all by ourselves, so just leave us alone
    6AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:45
Same goes for Ocha Norma and Rozi (Rosy Chronicle), actually. My bad.
    8AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:47
It's all thanks to everyone on the mothership (i.e. Juice=Juice)

    Rosy's having a blast on tour~ ⭐
    9AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:48
The opening act slot at the top groups' big shows doesn't have to always go to Rosy
Wouldn't hurt to let Ocha Norma have a turn once in a while
    10AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:48
There's already ANGERME — the real deal that's genuinely stopped getting looked at by anyone at all

Rosy Chronicle and its fans, in unison:
"Oi, Hello! Project — go earn us a bigger activity budget!"
    12AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:51
Listen up! I'm a DD, but! I'm interested in every group! I've got favorite members in every single one!
But! I can't do ALL of them! Three per group, max! Asking me to support every member is just asking too much!
    13AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:52
We'll just let ourselves live off whatever you guys earn
Go work yourselves like draft horses and bring home the money
We can't turn a profit ourselves, after all
    15AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:53
If it's Rosy Chronicle, it's gotta be Kamirena-chan first, obviously
    16AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:54
    If it's for Kamirena-chan, I don't mind being exploited a little
    17AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:54
This past year proved that in the end it's the songs that matter, not one member standing out a bit more than the rest

    Kamirena, Somantis, Shimahana, Honohono
    19AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:55

We'll run on whatever Juice=Juice earns

    Re: #20
My bad, genuinely sorry about that — the true, chosen female idol-otaku who actually fall down the Rosy Chronicle rabbit hole wouldn't whine like that anyway. Go cheer for Juice=Juice, climb to stardom alongside them, and hype up Hello! Project while you're at it. And flipping it around — you're still only playing halls? Hurry up and headline the Tokyo Dome already, then hand those hall shows over to Rosy Chronicle, sister group of the Juice=Juice that already sold out the Tokyo Dome
    21AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:57
Ah, I've got one reason I'm not into them
I'm just not that big on the gothic horror thing
If they keep pushing hard with stuff like Hoshibe's "Misery" or "Najirare," I'm not gonna cheer them on

    It's fine, it's fine
As long as Hello! Project as a whole is in the black, that's enough
That crappy agency probably isn't even trying to make real money off Rosy anyway

Background and key points of this discussion

“DD” is Hello! Project fan slang for the segment of fans who support every group equally without playing favorites. What became the thread’s focal point was a gap in enthusiasm — why even these DD fans seem to feel noticeably less drawn to Rosy Chronicle specifically. Posters pointed to structural factors tied to Hello! Project’s internal hierarchy and “oshi” (favorite-member) culture: the number of members worth rooting for, the strength of the songs, and the fact that opening-act slots at the top groups’ shows keep going to Rosy Chronicle. At the same time, some commenters cited individual popularity — such as being a fan of Kamirena-chan specifically — reviving a recurring Hello! Project debate: does a group’s pull come from its collective momentum, or from individual star power? This article keeps posts that wryly needle the group’s or agency’s management choices, while leaving out posts that are strongly disparaging toward real members or that make unsubstantiated claims, such as alleged backing by a religious organization.

  • Rina Kawaei’s “Some successful people are arrogant” comment sparks 5ch backlash: “If greetings got you famous, everyone would be famous”

Former AKB48 member and actress Rina Kawaei (31) appeared on “Shabekuri 007,” aired on the 5th, where she talked about a past period when she considered quitting the entertainment industry. On the show, she revealed, “There are people who are hugely successful but have an arrogant attitude or don’t even greet people. Sometimes I wonder, why is this person so popular?” She also shared behind-the-scenes details of the audition for the heroine role in the NHK morning drama “Come Come Everybody,” which she finally landed on her sixth attempt. On 5ch’s Entertainment/Sports News+ board, the discussion started with speculation over who the remark was aimed at, and expanded into a broader debate about the relationship between popularity and attitude — with some pushing back, “If being polite and greeting people was all it took to be successful, everyone would be successful,” while others countered that “people become successful because of hidden effort and talent.”

Rina Kawaei on the past when she considered leaving show business: “Why is this person…” — told her manager during the morning-drama audition, “If I don’t pass, I’m quitting”

Actress Rina Kawaei appeared on Nippon TV’s “Shabekuri 007” (airing Mondays, 9:00–9:54 PM), aired on the 5th, where she revealed a past period when she considered quitting the entertainment industry.

Kawaei, who played the heroine in NHK’s morning drama series “Come Come Everybody,” revealed it was her “sixth heroine audition,” having tried out for morning-drama heroine roles ever since her AKB48 days. When a message from the show’s executive producer was read aloud, explaining the reasoning — “When I saw Kawaei at the audition, I felt she was ready to commit fully to any role, in any situation. I felt I could trust her, both as a person and as an actress” — she listened with tears welling up in her eyes.

    15AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:51
I've literally never heard anyone ask "why is Kawaei so popular" about her, though.
    23AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:53
    Flip it around though —
is this woman surviving purely on humility and greetings?
No way, successful people are putting in effort behind the scenes too, plus they've got talent.
    24AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:53
So basically, "anyone who doesn't come greet me, I'll freeze out"?
    Is that what she's saying?
    25AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:53
If you're genuinely talented you don't need to suck up to anyone.
If anything, sucking up to your clique to land TV spots is the shadier move.
    27AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:53
The entertainment industry isn't exactly in the business of picking normal people to begin with 🤗
    28AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:53
She's really held it together since the "saw" incident (nickname for a past scandal of hers).
    Takes real guts, honestly.
    29AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:53
That kind of persona just gets used up and tossed aside.
Is getting screen time really worth it either way?
    31AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:54
It's gotta be one of these:
    powerful agency,
    solid ratings,
    or polite to the higher-ups.
    33AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:54
She probably got successful, got arrogant, and stopped greeting people as a result.
    37AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:54

    55AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:57
    Re: #40
She didn't mention age or gender, and this is vague enough to just be a general statement, so it's fine.

It's not like she described someone so specifically that everyone would know exactly who it is while only leaving out the name.
    42AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:55
This is the kind of line you hear a senpai use to bully a kouhai in dramas.
    43AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:55
If greeting people made you successful,
    everyone would be successful.
    47AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:55
From experience, I think people who air unprovable grievances like this behind someone's back are the ones with the worse personality.
If it bothered her that much, she should've said something or pushed back in the moment — but usually people just fake-smile or sulk instead.
Bottom line, more often than not the other person just didn't like you either.
    53AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:57
    Re: #47
Honestly, this comment reeks of showbiz culture.
The ones who badmouth people behind their backs are usually the worst offenders themselves.

Her grandfather's probably some powerful figure — that ceiling looked like something out of a castle.

Even an arrogant person can be successful if viewers want to watch them, right?
No idea if that applies to someone who actually pulls ratings, though.

    > Rina Kawaei (31)
First time I've ever heard that name in my life. Stop starting self-promo threads for celebrities.

Kawaei only got picked because she's with Avex (her talent agency).
    58AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:58
Sounds like the people around her are probably saying "that's literally you" lol
    59AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:58
"Successful people sometimes skip the greetings" — what a classic story, every single time.
    61AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:58
She's got some nerve saying this when she's been called out for bad attitude herself.
    69AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:59
Apparently on AKB's All Night Nippon radio show, everyone completely ignored the staff's greetings except Sashihara, who always greeted them properly. On variety shows too, when some no-name comedian named Morita was talking from the back row, she was the one who'd look him in the eye and nod along, apparently.
She's smart. She should get more airtime on shows like Tokyo Himitsu Kichi.
    70AnonymousOct 6, 2026 19:59
I heard Nakai was also notoriously moody and scary.
There are plenty of people like that.

Re: #1 Wait — this is the girl in that photo saying that?!
    76AnonymousOct 6, 2026 20:00
Of course you get cocky once you're successful, that's just how it goes.

And then you regret it later.

    Background and talking points

“Shabekuri 007” is a talk show that digs into celebrities’ pasts and behind-the-scenes stories, and during the broadcast Kawaei also revealed she auditioned six times before finally being cast as the heroine in “Come Come Everybody.” Since her comment about “arrogant big stars” didn’t name anyone specifically, most of the thread is really just speculation naming celebrities who’ve been called out for attitude in the past — worth remembering this isn’t confirmed. The debate splits between those arguing that “manners and talent are separate things” and those sharing personal anecdotes that “people’s attitudes change once they get successful,” though neither side actually proves how the industry really works.
