  • Sato Masaki’s New Radio Show ‘Dominant Life’ Launches on STV Radio October 4

It’s been officially announced that Hokkaido native Sato Masaki’s new radio show, “Sato Masaki’s Dominant Life!”, will begin airing on STV Radio starting October 4 (Sunday) at 23:30, sparking reactions on 5ch’s Hello! Project board. The same Sunday 11 PM slot already features OCHA NORMA’s Kubota Nanami on her HBC radio show, as well as a Radio Nippon program with Dambara Ruru and Matsunaga Ria, prompting repeated comments about the overlapping schedule. It also emerged that the same day, October 4, will see the launch of a new regular Juice=Juice program on Nippon Broadcasting, meaning new shows are launching across Hello! Project all at once. On the thread, anticipation mixed with worry over whether Sato Masaki can carry a solo 30-minute talk show.

Looks like it's the slot right after Kubota's.
23:00 Kubota Nanami — HBC Radio "OCHA NORMA Kubota Nanami's Kyururun♡ Radio"

↓ Which overlaps with this one:
23:30 Dambara Ruru or Matsunaga Ria — Radio Nippon "Bakuya ~BAKUNAI~"

No way Ma-chan can do this solo.
Let's get Fukumura in to help out.
    7AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:39
Kubota's on a different station, so they could probably still do a relay cross-over, right?

The Yantan episodes with Ma-chan were pretty funny too. (Yantan is a long-running Kansai late-night radio show)
    13AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:43
It's pre-recorded anyway, so they can bleep out as much as they need.
    14AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:43
She'll blab all kinds of personal info, it'll get cut left and right, and there won't be enough content left.
    15AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:44
More than half the show will just be bleeps and sound effects — a total trainwreck of a radio show.

Different one. That one's on FM. Kubota's and this new one are both on AM.
    41AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:51
It totally overlaps with Bakuya's timeslot.
Would've been better to just keep the Bonsoir slot going.
    42AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:51
    Might be mostly music.
    64AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:56

The show currently in that slot is like that, so this one's probably music-focused too.

    Sunday 23:30–24:00

In the moments before the date changes, music traveler Uchiyama Yoshiko brings you a select lineup of fine Japanese songs and heartfelt music talk.

There's barely any illegal uploads of the radio and TV appearances Ma-chan did for promo.
And the Myupa show she used to do a few years back, which Morito's doing now, has zero illegal uploads either.

    53AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:53
Maybe it's sponsored by Coach and Four or something. (a Hokkaido bookstore chain)
    54AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:53
Wait, Ishida's the one who's been saying she wants a radio show ever since she was active in the group.
    56AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:54
    Bonsoir airs on Saturdays.
This slot is currently run by an STV announcer.
    57AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:54
These days we've got Radiko, so you don't even need to listen live anymore.
    58AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:54
Even if it turns into a total mess, I want Ma-chan to do it solo.
    59AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:54
Let Ishida do some kind of web radio thing on the fan club site.
    60AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:54
Seriously? That's a bold move, STV.
I mean, she couldn't even manage a 2-minute segment before.
But her talk during the tour was hilarious, so letting her talk freely could actually be fun — though the editing must be a nightmare.
    62AnonymousSep 18, 2026 16:56
To everyone at the radio station —
it's going to take some patient editing,
    but please do your best.

    Background and Key Points

Sato Masaki is from Sapporo, Hokkaido, and having her own named show on local station STV Radio is a classic pattern of a hometown broadcaster bringing on a local talent. The “Yantan” show referenced in the thread is a long-running late-night radio program in the Kansai region, and the background here is that Sato’s past appearances on it were well received. Meanwhile, the same Sunday 11 PM slot already includes OCHA NORMA’s Kubota Nanami on her HBC radio show and a Radio Nippon program featuring Dambara Ruru and Matsunaga Ria, so existing listeners saw the new show’s overlapping timeslot as a scheduling clash. Hello! Project members’ radio shows are often said to have their on-air comments cut during editing, and posters expect the same here. Additionally, a new regular Juice=Juice program is launching on Nippon Broadcasting on the same day, October 4, suggesting this is a period of increased media exposure for the group as a whole.

  • Yahagi Ken and Ogi Hiroaki Slam Women’s Yoga-Wear Outfits — 5ch: ‘Isn’t This Just a Minato Ward Flex?’

Ogiyahagi’s Ken Yahagi and Hiroaki Ogi criticized women who walk around town in yoga wear near Minato Ward, during the late-night TBS Radio broadcast on September 17. Yahagi pointed out, “There are people walking around in skin-tight leggings,” and Ogi agreed, saying he “doesn’t know where to look.” After Yahoo News reported the remarks, a contentious thread sprang up on 5ch. Opinions split widely — from pushback that fashion is a matter of personal freedom, to theories that it’s really a “flex” showing off being a Minato Ward resident, to laments that Japan has become a country with less freedom to dress than China or Korea.

    9/18 (Fri) 4:15 PM

Comedy duo Ogiyahagi’s Hiroaki Ogi (55) and Ken Yahagi (55) appeared live on TBS Radio’s late-night program “Thursday JUNK: Ogiyahagi no Megane Biiki” (Thursdays, 1am), which aired the night of the 17th. The pair voiced complaints about certain fashion choices they’ve noticed women wearing out in public.

Yahagi opened with, “This happens a lot in Minato Ward especially — there really are people out walking around dressed for yoga. I’m serious. Skin-tight leggings and everything,” and Ogi chimed in, “I really don’t know where to look.” The two went on to criticize women going out in public wearing leggings.

    Background and Points of Discussion

“Ogiyahagi no Megane Biiki,” the long-running late-night TBS Radio show featuring Yahagi and Ogi (both 55), airs Thursday nights. The “athleisure” trend of wearing yoga wear as everyday clothing spread from the West and has since taken root in Japan; Minato Ward was likely singled out because the look stands out in areas like Azabu and Aoyama, known for their fitness-conscious, affluent residents. The thread split between those who see clothing choices as purely a matter of personal freedom and those who read the hosts’ comments as fair criticism from an older generation’s point of view. Comments like “this would get you forced to apologize in America” reflect differing attitudes toward body positivity, though it’s unclear from the responses whether the original radio remarks were partly in jest. Note that this article is based solely on excerpts of the reported comments — the broader context of the show itself remains unknown.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Entertainment/Sports News+) thread “Ken Yahagi: “This happens a lot in Minato Ward… there are people walking around dressed for yoga” — Criticizes women’s public fashion; Hiroaki Ogi: “That’s not okay, it’s embarrassing”.”

  • Detective Precure Movie’s Opening Day: Hope and Anxiety Over Turnout — 5ch: “Front-Loaded Series Means ¥2 Billion Is a Stretch”

The movie Star Detective Precure! hit theaters on its opening day, and 5ch’s anime live-discussion thread filled up with reports of fans scrambling to grab theater merch and the “Hochi Shimbun Precure Special Edition” newspaper, which doubled as a pamphlet. At the same time, worried voices weighed in on the box office prospects — “turnout from kids feels weak even on day one,” “this is a front-loaded series, so ¥2 billion is going to be tough” — mixing with posts surprised at how many people showed up on a weekday. Debates over which characters are most popular and speculation about where the franchise goes next also cropped up, making for a thread that blended opening-day excitement with cool-headed analysis.

Have a fair few of these happen at the school (the private Makoto Mirai Academy) as well.
Heck, throw in some of the rarer crime types from the link below too

I'd like fewer episodes built around a full mystery-solving segment, and a shorter transformation sequence.

Also, if the Precures don't carry their detective side into the action after transforming, it's not really a "Great Detective Precure" in the true sense.
I want them to either transform before the deduction segment starts, or work deduction into the battle segment itself. In the first case, once they've identified the culprit they'd immediately drive off or defeat the enemy — basically merging the detective segment with the Precure segment. In the second case, it'd be things like reasoning out the enemy's weak points mid-fight.
That's how you'd get the detective elements and the battle elements to coexist.

As it stands, I don't think the mystery-solving segment and the Precure segment are balanced well enough.

Cure Pochitan was great, wasn't it?

    Background and Talking Points

Poster #45’s claim of “sales down by half” is worth taking with a grain of salt — it’s an anonymous guess, not backed by any real box office data. Poster #86’s take that “this is a front-loaded series, so ¥2 billion is a stretch” reflects the fact that Precure movies typically have their whole year’s performance decided by opening-week turnout, and poster #93’s “just sell the merch with random inserts” response builds on that same logic. The hope for a sequel voiced by poster #103 draws on the precedent of Maho Girls Precure! getting a second season, though whether this film wraps up the story for good this year hasn’t been officially announced. As for weekday attendance, posts expressing surprise at how many kids skipped school to attend crossed paths with pushback aimed at the poster doing the observing — so the real picture of turnout doesn’t go beyond anecdotal, on-the-ground impressions.

  • Trainees’ “Senpai I Admire” Tally Leaves Tsubaki Factory with Zero — 5ch: “Tsubaki got zero, huh”

In an interview in the fall 2026 issue of CDJ magazine, Hello! Project trainees named the “senpai they admire,” and when thread posters tallied up the answers, Juice=Juice came out on top with 8 mentions — while Tsubaki Factory got zero votes from any trainee. The 5ch thread opened with a reminder that “the senpai you admire” and “the senpai you actually like” aren’t the same thing, then moved on to why Hattori Runa named Sato Masaki, and speculation over why Tsubaki Factory got shut out entirely. Talk also branched into predictions about the group’s future pecking order, factoring in members expected to graduate.

    Background and Talking Points

The source material is an interview in the fall 2026 issue of CDJ magazine, where each Hello! Project trainee named the “senpai they admire” — thread posters then apparently re-tallied those individual answers themselves. Worth noting: the “Juice=Juice: 8” and “Tsubaki Factory: 0” figures aren’t from an official poll — they’re an unofficial fan count of which names came up in the magazine. Early in the thread, someone pointed out that “the senpai you admire” and “the senpai you actually like” are two different things, and some argued it’s premature to judge groups purely by raw vote counts. As for Tsubaki Factory, the group has seen a string of member graduations that’s thinned its roster, and some posters are simply waiting to see how the lineup shifts going forward. Meanwhile, posts about specific members’ popularity or a leader’s qualifications are hard to verify and often amount to little more than speculation.

  • Google Slaps Age Restriction on Content Related to VTuber Shigure Ui

Content related to VTuber Shigure Ui has reportedly been flagged by Google with an 18+ age restriction, meaning it no longer shows up in logged-out or standard search results — a development that’s become a hot topic on 5ch. Thread posters shared what appear to be screenshots taken while searching in incognito mode, sparking surprise and confusion. The story also ties back to an earlier controversy, when Shigure Ui collaborated with a girls’ apparel brand and drew criticism for it not matching her character image — and the thread was split between those defending her and those piling on criticism.

Background and Key Points of This Story

Google’s search results and content classifications are determined automatically, and an “age-restricted” tag can get applied independently of what the operator or the individual actually wants. What sparked this thread wasn’t an official announcement but a screenshot a user reportedly took while searching in incognito mode — no explanation has been confirmed from Google, from Shigure Ui herself, or from her agency. The thread also conflates this age-restriction issue with the earlier backlash over her collaboration with the girls’ apparel brand Mezzo Piano, but the two are actually separate incidents. The collab controversy blew up over criticism that the brand image didn’t match her character as a VTuber, while this latest development is likely an unrelated change in how the search engine classifies her content. Opinions in the thread are split between those defending Shigure Ui and her fans and those who take issue with both the brand that proposed the collab and her side for accepting it — worth keeping in mind that no confirmed official explanation has surfaced yet.

  • What’s the Third, After ‘Golf’ and ‘Fried Rice’? 5ch Thread Swarmed by ‘Want-to-Teach’ Old Guys

On 5ch’s Nandemo Jikkyo (Live News) board, a thread went up asking users to nominate “content where amateurs act self-important in the comments.” Building on two examples already floated — golf and fried rice — posters were asked for a third, and suggestions poured in ranging from baseball sabermetrics debates to shogi, DIY, orchestral music, and traffic-rule-themed dashcam videos. For fried rice, objections piled up against the “fluffy-grain supremacy” and “pan-tossing worship” mindsets, while for golf, posters shared stories of being lectured in lesson videos or suddenly approached with unsolicited advice at the driving range. In the end, no single third answer was settled on, and opinions were split even on why certain hobbies attract so many “want-to-teach” types in the first place.

This time the chosen pair — golf and fried rice — stood out because both are hobbies/dishes that seem low-barrier enough for anyone to try. Commenters largely agreed with defenses like “even just hitting the ball forward is impressive to an amateur” and “it looks easy but is actually incredibly hard,” converging on the view that skills which are easy to judge visually (a golf score, or how separated the rice grains are) tend to invite armchair criticism from amateurs. Baseball and shogi, by contrast, were flagged as a different case — the rise of new evaluation frameworks like sabermetrics and AI game analysis has reshaped their traditional criticism culture, making them a different context from golf and fried rice. Worth noting, since the headline alone could mislead: the thread never actually settled on one “correct” third answer — multiple candidates were simply raised side by side.

  • Lawson’s ¥397 Bento Draws Overpriced Complaints — 5ch: “It’s Basically a Fancy Rice Ball”

Lawson’s new “One-Point Focus” bento lineup has become a hot topic on 5ch. The teriyaki sausage bento costs ¥397 (tax included) and the salmon “bodakko” bento costs ¥297, with the idea being to cut costs by limiting each bento to a single main ingredient. On the thread, many complained the bentos felt overpriced — “not worth the price,” “can’t believe this got turned into a product” — while others defended them, saying “it’s basically a fancy rice ball, right?” Opinions were split over how convenience store bentos are priced these days.

This is what the original bodakko bento actually looks like.
It's ridiculously salty, so this amount is plenty to finish a whole bowl of rice.

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Lawson’s “One-Point Focus” bento is positioned as a “contrast consumption” concept — cutting costs elsewhere by limiting the bento to a single main ingredient. The main point of contention on the thread was how overpriced it feels compared to Lawson’s own budget “Lawson 100” chain and bentos from other retailers, with opinions split over whether the price matches the amount of food. At the same time, some comments — like the “it’s basically a fancy rice ball” comparison — showed a degree of understanding for the idea of narrowing a bento down to just one ingredient. Underneath it all is frustration over price hikes and inflation, suggesting the backlash is less about this specific product and more a flashpoint for broader unease over how convenience store bentos are priced these days.

  • Ai Mikami Once Dreamed of Being a ‘Lighting Tech’ — A Play She Saw in Middle School Also Sparked a Dream of Becoming a Director

Actress Ai Mikami (25) revealed on NHK’s “Asa-Ichi” broadcast on the 18th that before she set her sights on acting, she wanted to become a “lighting technician.” The spark came from a stage play she saw in her second year of junior high, when she intuitively felt, “This is it — this is my future.” She also said she dreams of becoming a director someday. On the 5channel Entertainment/Sports News+ (Geisoku) board, this comment caught fire because it recalled an incident from a few years back when Suzu Hirose sparked controversy with her remark, “Why would anyone want to become a lighting technician?” — prompting a flood of replies comparing the two actresses’ comments.

Well, I'm team Alice, then. (referring to Suzu Hirose's sister, actress Alice Hirose)

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Ai Mikami’s remark blew up on 5channel because of an incident a few years ago in which Suzu Hirose was criticized for saying, “Why would anyone want to become a lighting technician?” — seen at the time as belittling behind-the-scenes work. In the thread, Mikami’s story about once aspiring to be a “lighting technician” was held up against that earlier incident, with some users speculating it might be a veiled jab at Hirose. It’s worth noting, though, that whether she intended any such thing was never addressed on the program itself — that’s purely an association drawn by 5channel users. Ryoko Yonekura’s own past remark was also brought up for comparison, underscoring how an offhand comment on television can end up being repeated for years — which is itself part of what fuels threads like this one.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5channel (Entertainment/Sports News+) thread “[Actress] Ai Mikami Once Wanted to Be a “Lighting Technician” — A Middle School Play Gave Her an Intuitive “This Is It, This Is My Future” Moment, Also Dreams of Becoming a Director.”

  • PS5 Pro: “The busier you are, the more you should consider it” — 5ch fires back: “More like for people who want to waste their money”

An article arguing that people with less time should consider the PS5 Pro even more, citing “less prep work,” was picked up on 5ch. The piece is a contribution from an individual gadget blogger published on Yahoo! News, not a reporting piece from a major outlet. On 5ch, a string of rebuttals followed — pointing out that even PC gaming rarely eats up time with setup these days, and that if convenience is the metric, the handheld Switch 2 arguably wins outright. Once it became clear the source wasn’t Sony or a general media outlet but the opinion of an individual blogger who favors Apple products, doubts about the content itself spread further.

How should we think about the “extra step” before starting a game?

PC is freedom. You can customize it endlessly, use it for things beyond gaming, and even expand your enjoyment with mods. That’s appealing in its own right. I used to love that freedom myself, and there was a period when PC gaming was my main thing.

That said, freedom always comes with the cost of “configuring things yourself, solving problems yourself.” When you have time to spare, that can even be part of the fun — but that “self-resolution cost” gradually becomes a burden.

Once you're dead, everything in your collection is just trash. So the right move is to avoid buying unnecessary stuff as much as possible, and promptly sell off or dispose of anything you use less often or have lost interest in.
Ultimately, of course, the answer is to graduate from games that require consoles altogether. Keep your gaming confined to essentials you already own, like a PC or smartphone. Actually, graduating from the gaming hobby entirely is the optimal solution.

This is obviously Switch 2, no contest.

    Re: #100
If you've got so little time that you can't even be wherever you want, you're not really in a position to be gaming in the first place.

    Background and points of contention

The original piece was a contribution posted to Yahoo! News Individual (Expert), a section where experts and bloggers post their own views — different in character from a standard reporting article. On the 5ch thread, part of the backlash stemmed from readers not realizing this and taking it as if “the media is recommending the PS5 Pro.” The disagreement centered on what counts as “convenient”: one side argued PC gaming barely needs any setup before you start playing, while the other pointed out the handheld Switch 2 lets you play anywhere regardless of location — leaving the console PS5 Pro’s positioning unclear. Note that claims within the 5ch thread about the PS5 Pro’s street price or shortages reflect posters’ impressions, not facts backed by official shipment data.

  • Yokohama City Fire Department Band Performs a Juice=Juice Song — 5ch: ‘This Is Basically a Social Phenomenon Now’

Wind-band sheet music publisher Rocket Music posted a video on X of the Yokohama City Fire Department Band performing Juice=Juice’s “Moré! Mi Amore,” and it blew up on 5ch’s Hello! Project board. The thread quickly filled with wordplay linking “fire department” (shōbō) to “going up in flames” (enjō, i.e. going viral in a bad way), alongside hopes for a Kōhaku Uta Gassen appearance and comments calling it “basically a social phenomenon.” Posts referencing actual real-world fire incidents have been left out of this writeup.

Guess this makes Yokohama the site of its own 'Pomu Fes' (apparent riff on a fan-event nickname — not entirely clear from the thread)

Sending the fire department after a group that's always 'up in flames' online lol
    6AnonymousSep 18, 2026 14:05
Yeah, this locks in their Kōhaku Uta Gassen spot for sure

Nah, no way — 'shutter chance' shots would just spark a whole backlash (シャッターチャンス = slang for opportunistic paparazzi-style photo ops of idols, sometimes controversial)
    8AnonymousSep 18, 2026 15:09
Just have the Yokohama Fire Department put the fire out, problem solved
    9AnonymousSep 18, 2026 15:11
This isn't just buzz anymore, it's a full-blown social phenomenon — way past 'boom' territory
Wouldn't be shocking if it made the Buzzword of the Year list

    Re: #9
It'll probably get nominated at least — either 'Moré!' or 'shutter chance'
Can't wait to see how the internet reacts when that happens
    10AnonymousSep 18, 2026 15:14
Juice=Juice spread a masterpiece to the world
That's what being an idol is all about

    It's really catching on, huh

    Background and Talking Points

This story kicked off when wind-band sheet music publisher Rocket Music posted a video on X of the Yokohama City Fire Department Band performing Juice=Juice’s “Moré! Mi Amore.” It’s not unusual in wind-band/brass-band circles for local government bands to perform and arrange sheet music for popular songs — it’s often done as a promotional tie-in. What got the thread going was the wordplay built around “enjō” (going up in flames/blowing up online) paired with the fact that it was a fire department doing the performing, plus hopes for a Kōhaku Uta Gassen appearance and comments calling it a “social phenomenon.” On the other hand, replies touching on real past fire incidents at venues have been omitted from this article, since the people or damage involved can’t be confirmed. One thing worth flagging for readers: this thread isn’t about an actual fire accident — it’s centered on wordplay connecting “fire department” with “going up in flames.”
