The story

On October 21, Travation, the agency representing railway YouTubers Saionji and ZAKI, posted an apology on its official X account titled “An Apology Regarding Inappropriate Conduct by Our Staff.” The agency came under fire after one of its staff members was found to have torn down a celebrity’s signed memorabilia displayed at a takoyaki shop in Osaka, calling the act “extremely rude and malicious” and reportedly handing down severe punishment to the staffer involved. The shop itself also issued an apology that same morning, stating “We consider this to be our own doing and our responsibility,” which split opinion on 5ch over whether the shop had consented to the sign’s removal or whether the staffer had acted on their own.

Just pointing and shouting insults would already be bad enough, but actually ripping it off the wall? That's on another level.

Re: #1
Classic Kansai banter.

That joke's stone cold, pal. (mock old-Osaka dialect for "that's lame")
8AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:05
Acting all big-shot with a talent agency now, huh?
And ZAKI's apparently a regular salaryman on weekdays.
Those two are seen riding the same train a lot — guessing the agency was arranging that.

Re: #8
Isn't this the agency Saionji started himself?
10AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:05
>The shop also apologized that same morning, saying "We consider this to be our own doing and our responsibility."

So does that mean the shop agreed to having it taken down?

Re: #10
Sounds like it was the takoyaki shop that uploaded the video, so maybe they just thought it'd be funny?
11AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:05
Property damage? Or did the shop sign off on it?
14AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:06
He was born with such a distinguished surname, and this is how he repays his ancestors?
17AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:07
A mere train nerd has his own talent agency now?
28AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:10
It's wrong to proudly display a sign just because some celebrity ate there — the food doesn't taste any different for it. It basically disrespects all the regular customers.

Re: #28
"Nobody of note, worthless" — that's exactly the kind of line anonymous-forum posters love to throw around.
Not just in real life but online too, you're basically treated as a non-person.

I don't even get the "railway YouTuber" genre to begin with. Do they just go on train trips or what?

Re: #40
Their job is riding the choo-choo and showing off how much they know.

Re: #40
I've seen a couple of Saionji's videos — one where he lived inside a train car for a week, and another where he basically lived at a station like he was homeless.

A lot of railway and travel YouTubers started out while still in college. Since they never had real work experience, plenty of them turn out to be pretty awful people. Same goes for a lot of national and local politicians.

Re: #55
If anything, it's the older guy — the one who looks like he should have work experience and be setting a good example — who's the one causing trouble here lol
60AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:17
What was the shop staff even doing this whole time?
62AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:17
Re: #60
If they were just standing there laughing along, then there wasn't really a problem, was there…?
71AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:21
No matter how talented a guy like this is, even if he's your best friend, you're better off cutting him loose early.

Couldn't agree more.

No doubt about it. People with no common sense are the scariest.

Among railway YouTubers, the sharp-seeming ones like Toraneko are fun to watch, but the mumbly fast-talkers and the weirdly over-hyped ones are kind of off-putting.
83AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:25
Re: #79
Toraneko's video concepts are good, but it's way too distracting when he keeps piling on useless trivia like "this city has a population of such-and-such" at every single stop.
82AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:24
What is it about trains just cruising along at a steady speed that hooks these guys so hard?
87AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:26
Re: #82
There's something romantic about how a single driver can carry over 1,000 people on the Tokaido Shinkansen. Even a 747 only seats around 600 passengers, tops. (ウテシ, "utesh" — railway slang for train driver)
84AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:25
Not totally following, but is this basically: staff from one big-name railway YouTuber's agency got cocky and tore down another railway YouTuber's sign just to flex on them?
85AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:26
Re: #84
Pretty much, yeah.
101AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:33
If the shop's apologizing too, does that mean the shop was in on it?
106AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:35
Re: #101
Probably gave the okay. A sign from a YouTuber who isn't even that famous is just clutter anyway.
107AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:35
I stopped watching Suit for a while because the flashes of something unhinged underneath got a little unsettling, but seeing him team up with Dosukoi is kind of fun — having two slightly off-kilter guys together somehow balances it out.
111AnonymousOct 22, 2026 10:37
Re: #107
Suit's railway knowledge is amazing, but I cracked up at how bad his handwriting is whenever he explains stuff on the whiteboard. He should take a calligraphy class or something and learn to write neatly.

Background and Key Points of This Story

Railway YouTubers typically start out as solo creators, and even after forming an agency, many such operations keep growing while still run like a casual fan club behind the scenes. Travation appears to be a case where Saionji founded the agency himself, prompting commenters in the thread to suggest that “the executives are just his buddies” and that “the title has outpaced any actual work experience.” The real point of disagreement wasn’t whether tearing down the sign was wrong — that much was taken as a given — but rather how much the shop itself knew about or consented to it. The shop apologized, calling it “our own responsibility,” but there’s also information suggesting the shop was the one who uploaded the video, leaving open both the possibility that the removal was filmed and posted as a simple prank, and the possibility that the agency staffer acted entirely on their own. Based on the article alone, it’s impossible to say whether this rises to the level of legal property damage, and the agency’s apology statement stuck to the vague phrase “inappropriate conduct” without disclosing any specifics of the disciplinary action taken.
