The story
On 5ch’s Hardware/Industry board (commonly known as the “Geha” board), the long-running feud between PC gamers and PS5 users has flared up again, drawing in Xbox and Switch users who technically had no stake in the fight. The spark was a reaction to a pro-PC argument circulating on X (formerly Twitter): the thread saw clashes between the view that “if you have a PC, the PS5 is just a redundant, lesser alternative” and the counter-argument that “choosing based on price and convenience is perfectly reasonable.” As the discussion progressed, Xbox and Switch fans piled on too, each poking at the others’ weak points, turning it into a three-way free-for-all.

I wonder why…
Not PC vs. console, but…

What people said
This kind of fight is between equals anyway 😎
It's not selling well worldwide, not just in Japan, but they write it like it's only a Japan problem — hilarious.
Anyone buying that loser trash hardware called Xbox is just doing it as a joke anyway.
They're doing the same thing worldwide and getting hated for it everywhere — too funny.
This — the Xbox, Nintendo, and PC camps are all basically throwing their votes against PS lol
If you've got a PC, you don't need a PS — it's a complete downgrade anyway lol
Population on Xbox? What does Xbox even win at? The only thing it wins at is being more expensive, so they should just brag about the price.
If you're going to drag this onto a field where PS-fanboy logic lets you "win," wouldn't that be "Microsoft's revenue"?
There's Xbox Game Pass, which is such good value that people even call its users "beggars."
Play day-one titles on Game Pass for a while and the price difference between an Xbox and a PS5 console disappears fast — Xbox ends up the better deal.
Plus there are the Rewards too.
You think so? I own both a PS5 Pro and a gaming PC lol
Sounds like a pretty weak PC.
Buying one right now is a bit questionable, but the Series S was great value back when its price (tax included) dropped from ¥37,000 to ¥33,000.
It's the only console that's ever actually gotten a price cut.
These days plenty of people are fine with just a smartphone.
The Switch 2 also has great controls and lets you play appealing exclusives plus some multiplatform titles.
PS5 and Xbox can't play Nintendo's exclusives, but they open up a much wider range of multiplatform games.
And PC simply has an enormous library of titles.
✕ "A smartphone is enough"
○ "A smartphone is basically the only thing they've ever properly used in their personal life"
We're in an era where 60% of new graduates lack basic PC skills, after all.
Good.
Console wars are seriously pointless anyway.
"Just buy whatever you like" settles the whole argument.
Weird that nobody's started a thread on this one.
It's blowing up overseas too.
Which just proves that deep down they know it's true themselves — that's why they fight back so desperately lol
I think dropping like ¥500,000 on a PC comes across as going a bit overboard with the hobby, honestly.
Could you really show off your dim PC room with the desk, chair, monitor, and headphones, blacked out with light-blocking curtains?
I keep mine hidden…
How your room looks to other people has nothing to do with anything lol
Though I guess shifting the topic like that is all you've got lol
The problem with the PC hobby isn't the hardware itself.
It's what's sitting on top of it.
You're ashamed because you can't show other people what you actually do with that PC — that's on you, not everyone else.
It's been 4060 Ti level from the start.
Factoring in optimization, it's up around 4060 Ti level.
Compared to a straight 4060, the PS5 Pro actually performs better.
If you're going to buy a PC with something like a 3060, you'd be far better off just getting a PS5 Pro.
Background and Key Points of This Debate
This type of PC-vs-console argument is a recurring topic that regularly resurfaces on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry board (the “Geha” board), and this round was sparked by reactions to a pro-PC argument circulating on X. One comparison that came up later in the thread — that “the PS5 Pro’s GPU performance is roughly in the RTX 4060 to 4060 Ti class” — is only a rough benchmark-based estimate; actual performance depends on software optimization and architectural differences, so it shouldn’t be taken as a direct apples-to-apples comparison. The debate also started out as a straight PC-vs-PS5 matchup, but Xbox and Switch fans kept piling in one after another — a classic Geha-board chain reaction where, once a post attacks one piece of hardware, other camps jump in to tout their own side’s advantages too.
