FE Official Poll: Engage Camp Takes Early Lead — Three Houses Fans Cry Foul

From our other sites

The story

In the official Fire Emblem series popularity poll, the latest title “Engage” camp posted a score far ahead of the “Three Houses” camp in the first round of tallying — and it became a hot topic on 5ch’s Hardware & Industry board (Geha). Because the poll’s scoring multiplier shifts to give the trailing side a correction boost, opinions in the thread split over which numbers actually reflect “popularity.” Posters shared first-round totals showing the Engage side at roughly 8.24 million points combined versus the Three Houses side at roughly 3.42 million, and the debate spread between fans of both games.

Guess Three Houses really was FE's peak after all, huh

Re: #1
Only Nintendo can beat Nintendo!
6AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:45
Does this actually sting the Nintendo-only fanboys ('Nishi-kun')?
7AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:45
Thanks to the 'den-den phenomenon' (a meme for fans who wave away bad results with vague reassurances), a mountain of believers showed up insisting 'it's not a crap game!' — and yet here we are.

No popularity is proof enough that it's a crap game.

Re: #7
Three Houses fans are the ones buying into the Engage side ('Myriad Hues,' 5ch's nickname for the Engage camp), so pitting them against each other isn't really fair.
Still, I'd love for Koei to make another Three Houses someday.

Re: #7
That excuse is lame as hell.
10AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:48
Of course — the female fanbase fled.
11AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:50
Bet they'll start saying 'it's not fair, it just came out!' next.

But Three Houses characters swept every popularity poll right out of the gate too.
12AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:51
Can't be helped — Three Houses' house leaders are just too popular.
13AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:52
Vote battles are a game where the multiplier keeps shifting,
so the only part that reflects actual popularity is the opening tally.
14AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:54
The FE-complex crowd hasn't actually played it (an 'air-player,' 5ch slang for talking about a game without having played it), so they don't get it, but — in vote battles the more popular side can actually end up losing.
Isn't this a first-ever win for 'Egachan' (comedian Egashira 2:50, internet shorthand for someone famously unlucky)?
15AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:55
Three Houses already had strong character popularity to begin with, while Engage (punned here as 'ten-thousand deaths') crammed in way too many characters and came out thin across the board — no way it was winning this.
16AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:57
By the way, here's the opening tally — if it's really about popularity, this is what counts, so Re: #1 is just embarrassing themselves.

Reda >> Yuris
Theodora >> Edelgard
Dietrich >> Dimitri
Claude = Kai

Just so it's clear: the opening tally is fair, but from round two onward the multiplier shifts with the score and buffs whoever's losing.
So if you want to see real popularity, it's the opening score, not the final result.
That's what Re: #16 is.

Re: #16
> Claude = Kai
Even a new-release bonus can't flip this one, huh.
17AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:58
The vote counts aren't even that different, lol
19AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:02
Re: #17
Same, lol lol
If anything, a game that's only been out two weeks closing the gap this much — how popular is that?
20AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:02
[Sad News] Following 'Xeno-complex,' 'Zelda-complex,' and 'Bayo-complex,' 'FE-complex' officially joins the hall of fame (5ch slang for diehard fans whose franchise inferiority complex makes them lash out at critics)

The more they keep saying stuff like this, the more people will start thinking Engage might not actually be bad — so keep it up.
Well, I don't care about info-illiterate people who'd believe guys like this anyway.
22AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:07
Yuris, summoned here just to pad out the numbers, huh.
24AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:11
Anyway, what's Nintendo gonna do with the console lineup from here?
Realistically Zelda's about the only thing left this year.
26AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:21
Guess even the Savior's gotta pick a new party (´・ω・`)
I mean, wouldn't gathering each title's most popular characters sell better after all? → Proceeds to the Engage Route
27AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:25
Are you bashing this without even understanding the rules? lol
28AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:26
In vote battles, the more popular character tends to lose — you're just talking without having played, aren't you?
29AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:26

Re: #29
Kai's the only one who deserves sympathy.
62AnonymousOct 4, 2026 17:15
Re: #29
Maybe it's because Kai's too much of a good kid that there's nothing to even say about him.
44AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:39
That just proves the character's done for.
No need to get so worked up about it.
46AnonymousOct 4, 2026 16:40
Re: #44
That just proves he's popular.
No need to get so worked up about it.
67AnonymousOct 4, 2026 17:39
By the way, yet another YouTuber gave it a low rating.

And this is the same guy who happily bought the limited edition and even made an unboxing video.
Do you 🐷 (piggies) brand this guy an anti too?
71AnonymousOct 4, 2026 17:45
Kent also had plenty of complaints and only just barely landed on a positive review.
By the way, a lot of people giving ⭐5 on Amazon write nothing but complaints in the review text itself.
At this rate the bar just keeps dropping — pretty soon even a 50-point game gets ⭐5 'high praise.'

Normally a positive review means you've got maybe one or two gripes that don't really bother you.
A real crap game is one you literally can't play — but good luck telling that to the 🐷 (piggies) who just make up their own standards.
73AnonymousOct 4, 2026 17:48
Re: #71
Lol, you can tell they're panicking about the Amazon rating almost flipping on them.
76AnonymousOct 4, 2026 17:50
Bet they'll bail at the end with some 'guess I'll go to bed' line.
100AnonymousOct 4, 2026 19:43
FE's really been on a downward slide ever since Three Houses, huh.
101AnonymousOct 4, 2026 19:57
Re: #100
Not sure if FE fans even realize it, but
Three Houses is popular on a whole different level.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

What this thread is reacting to is an official Fire Emblem popularity-poll event built with a mechanism where the scoring multiplier shifts to give a correction boost to whichever side is trailing. As pointed out in replies 16 and 18, looking only at the final results makes it seem like the “Three Houses” camp staged a comeback, but many posters argued that a fair comparison can only be made using the opening scores, before the multiplier correction kicks in. According to the opening tally posted in reply 29, the Engage (“Myriad Hues”) camp totaled roughly 8.24 million points combined, versus roughly 3.42 million for the Three Houses camp — and this is what’s behind the “total defeat” framing. On the other hand, some pushed back, arguing that Three Houses, having been out for years, has already built up an entrenched fanbase, making a straight comparison with the freshly released Engage camp inherently unfair — so the thread split over which number should count as the real measure of “popularity.” As of this article, no final results or official announcement for the poll event itself have been released.
