were they cut to match the anime,

[Old Deus] got way too cocky after becoming convinced he'd escaped a life-threatening crisis for the first time
Also, that was around when Aisha came back to him, and it was a period when Rudeus was recovering, having resolved to at least cherish Zanoba and Julie, who kept looking out for him and helped make the Sylphie doll together
So it's also about turning that (recovering) Rudeus into a vengeful demon and wrecking his life
There's an old, strict rule that villains have to laugh and spill the truth to the hero or their allies at the end

he was seeing it on the right side, through the Foresight Eye, right?
At first the Foresight Eye just shows the afterimage of the open door with the two of them in it,
but the instant it flashes, the afterimage is gone — so the part where they hold hands is probably the illusion
No way Rudy would gently smile while holding the hand of some mystery dying old man he's nursing
Or maybe, being on the verge of death, his hazy consciousness put a filter on it

But it also looks like the Man-God was feeding ideas to Philemon around here too
Along with the fact that the Millis Knights knew the location of the teleportation magic circle,
if you look closely, you can see the Man-God interfering all over the place trying to crush Rudeus
like, "chat up the moody blond hottie and cash in"
and that was the decisive blow for his breakup with Sylphie

Do that and everything up to now would look like it was Old Deus's story
Swapping episodes 12 and 13 might hit harder,
but this isn't a "do-over" story, so that's exactly what they should never do
Without last week's episode, you'd just be sitting there like "wait, what's even happening?"
Doing that would make it look like the protagonist role gets handed down from Old Deus
The one who's continuous with the story so far is present-day Rudeus — Old Deus is, after all, a different person

but far from getting rid of him, he raised him up and enjoyed it (reference to Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai)
It says the future suddenly changed because of the great catastrophe,
so I'd guess the setting is that future-sight only shows the pre-overwrite future until the overwrite happens
