The story
Following the success of “Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP,” a brand-new entry in the series, “LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW 2 Back2Back,” has been revealed via announcements from the PlayStation Blog and Famitsu. The game has been announced for PS5, but the thread immediately zeroed in on the fact that series creator Goichi Suda is not involved in this installment. Comments like “A Suda game isn’t about the title — Suda himself is the brand” and “There’s no point without Suda” piled up one after another, while some posters even brought up Hajime Tabata, the former director of Final Fantasy XV. The discussion branched out fast, from whether the PS5 exclusivity will actually hold to a full-blown math battle over how to interpret the previous Switch version’s sales figures.
That exhilarating zombie action is back! A brand-new entry in the series kicks off on PS5
“Lollipop Chainsaw” is back — Juliet is back, the zombies are back! Following the 2024 remake “Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP,” a completely new entry in the series is finally coming to PS5 in 2027.

What people said
Exactly this — sure, the hit-or-miss rate is high, but it means something precisely because Suda's involved.
— this game's vibe just doesn't land with Japanese audiences anymore, so there's zero chance of decent sales in Japan.
But there sure are a lot of angry replies from overseas fans.
That's basically become the excuse to snub Switch 2.
So far, every media outlet's article only mentions PS5 too.

> Doragami Games Inc. (headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo; President Shohei Sato) announces that, in conjunction with an announcement made by NADA HOLDINGS CORP. (headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan; President Joe Teng, hereinafter "NADA HOLDINGS") on the PlayStation Blog, the official title of the latest entry in the LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW series is "LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW 2 Back2Back," and that it will be released for PlayStation 5.
It's already niche enough for hardcore fans as it is.

…yeah, I dunno about this one
For that 'Re-whatever' game, Xbox got added to the platform list later on.
I love Lollipop Chainsaw, so I'm happy to see a sequel.
and they're going PS5 exclusive? Are they trying to kill this thing?
That's a worldwide figure though, you sure about that?
Do the math and that comes out to only 6,000 units sold per country.
If you're going to argue that way, dividing PlayStation's 1 million worldwide units by country gives roughly the same number.
Knowing how hard someone thought about that reply is too scary to even laugh at.
Isn't this just PlayStation's PR leading with their own platform first, basically saying 'PS5 is included'?
Details are probably coming at TGS, right?
1,000,000 units / 73 countries = 13,698 units.
That's more than double your number — you sure about that?
It's sold in more than 123 countries and regions.

Ohh!!! Thanks!!!
I'll check it out once I'm back at work.
I'm a hardcore fan, so normally I'd praise it no matter what… but yeah, this is actually pretty rough.
It doesn't need to be high production value — it just feels like it's missing that certain sense of style.

people are going to mistakenly think it's PS5-only forever,
and that's going to tank the game's sales, don't you think?
Nobody wins here — not the publisher, not the users.
It's a garbage timed-exclusive deal.
They really need to stop doing pointless timed exclusives
for a dying platform like this.
The only ones who benefit are the people getting wined and dined — that's exactly why this practice never dies.
If a platform with 140 million monthly active users counts as 'dying,'
then what does that make Xbox or Switch, which have even fewer? ;;
Except… Suda's not even in it…
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
“Lollipop Chainsaw” is a 2012 action game directed by Goichi Suda of Grasshopper Manufacture, which received a remake, “RePOP,” in 2024. According to Famitsu, the newly announced full sequel is being developed by NADA HOLDINGS CORP. (Taiwan) and published by Doragami Games (Shinagawa, Tokyo), with no involvement from Suda or Grasshopper Manufacture confirmed at this time. Opinion in the thread was split over whether the PS5 listing means permanent exclusivity or a “timed exclusive” that will later add other platforms — there have been past cases of titles announced as PS5-only that later added Xbox support, so drawing firm conclusions about platform availability from this announcement alone may be premature. There was also a back-and-forth over the previous Switch version’s sales figures, with posters doing rough per-country conversions of worldwide totals — but the actual regional breakdown hasn’t been published, so any such estimate remains speculative.
