The story
Reina Uemura (aka Kamirena), a member of the Hello! Project group Rosy Chronicle, has seen her singing rapidly improve, sparking buzz on 5ch’s Hello! Project board. The trigger was a clip of her solo part from the “Hello! Con 2026” show at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO — while she’d mainly been praised for her looks and dancing until now, surprised comments poured in like “her vocal power’s gotten so much bigger” and “she’s way more stable than back in her trainee days.” The thread also drifted into comparisons with fellow member Yuriya Soma, seen as a potential ace of the group, and the results of the “Idol Battle Alive 2026” event held the day before, with opinions somewhat split.

Rosy Chronicle
From the "Hello! Con 2026" Tokyo shows at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO, August 8-9, 2026
In Rosy Chronicle, Uemura's really good at the "naki" (the emotional, crying-style vocal delivery idols do at a song's climax).
If the song choice and performance click for her solo at Hina Fest, we might see a mini-fever like the Kamiko moment.
Though she was always the dexterous type who could do pretty much anything well.
That's really not that different from how things already are, though.
Her voice doesn't carry much either, but she's got that intense, spit-flying "naki" delivery (an all-out emotional singing style), so it's too early to give up on her.
Compared to her trainee days, her stability's come up a ton.
Even back then I thought her performance wasn't bad.
But a lot of Hello! Project fans won't rate anyone unless they pull that solemn "acme face" (the intense, climactic expression idols make at a song's emotional peak).
You mean the one with Maro's song?
If so, same here.
And with the brainy Honohono also in Rosy Chronicle, the group's stacked.
Wait, she's smart?
Not bad at all — that's plenty to compete with.
if she picks up real skill on top of that, she's gonna turn into a monster.
A one-woman-dominant monster, no less…
but there's a real chance it gradually shifts into a one-ace-dominates setup.
that's why her popularity hasn't taken off.
Kamirena just feels like the real deal.
she just fired back with a "that's not true at all!!"
Could it be the official release had the audio touched up a bit?
By nature she's reserved and, for better or worse, doesn't push herself forward, so she's stuck in the "cute and lovable" lane — but if she wanted to, she could absolutely dominate.
Even now, compared to the people around her, she's clearly a tier or two above, so she's already got real pull.
but some fans had already been saying Rosy Chronicle's skills were coming up too.
You've got to show results somewhere visible, or the effort never gets noticed.
it's like Ohtani stuck on the Angels.
Thing is, there's no Dodgers or Yankees in Hello! Project.
If I had to say, she's got a bit of a Tsubaki Factory vibe, but if she joined Tsubaki it probably wouldn't be that different from staying in Rosy Chronicle anyway.
Is that the Sugai-chan effect?
Background and Key Points of This Discussion
The thread was sparked by a stage video of Rosy Chronicle from the “Hello! Con 2026” show at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO. Reina Uemura had mainly been praised for her looks and dancing up to now, but in the replies, comments pointing out a change in her singing stood out, such as “her vocal power’s gotten bigger” and “she’s way more stable than back in her trainee days.” The discussion also expanded into “ace” comparisons with fellow member Yuriya Soma and the results of the previous day’s “Idol Battle Alive 2026,” but it’s worth noting these are evaluations from an anonymous message board, not an official ranking or assessment from the agency or the group. The point that impressions of her singing shift heavily depending on vocal volume came paired with suspicions about possible touch-ups to the live recording, so this should be read as individual fan impressions rather than a definitive verdict.
