The story
The topic “apparently, the personality girls find most attractive is someone who doesn’t get angry” came up on 5ch and split opinions. Some pushed back, arguing that “guys with a delinquent (yankii) vibe who always seem to be in a bad mood actually seem more popular,” to which others replied that “statistically, most women want a calm, even-tempered man.” The discussion then expanded into whether looks and height matter more than personality, with some arguing that on dating apps first impressions are almost entirely decided by appearance — exposing a deeper disagreement over what “being popular with women” even means.
What people said
That's exactly because they've got experience being that kind of delinquent.
There are probably delinquents who never get angry at their girlfriend specifically.
They just dump all that anger on everyone else, which is why they look moody.
That's online talk.
In real life, it's the emotionally expressive women who throw hysterics all the time who get popular.

Re: #15
You're NOT popular, dumbass.
If you think you're popular, go hit someone and see if it actually gets you girls.
Good personality…? 🤔
Your own say-so means nothing.
Show us a video and prove it.
👇 Reasons you're not popular
・Bad looks
・Bad personality/behavior
・Bad hobbies/values
・Not smart
・Low income
So your bad personality and behavior don't count, huh?
I have a good personality, so I'm popular.
You sure seem like the type who loves online flame wars, though.
The situations where that kind of man is popular are extremely limited.
It's not that thugs are more popular — it's that they're good-looking.
That's all there is to it.
What percentage of criminals are we even talking about there?
Because aiming for that means you'd have to face what you're actually lacking.
If you insist that 'being popular is about aggression,' you get to live forever inside the comforting story that 'I'm unpopular because I'm too nice.'
Like I said, it's 'looks,' lol.
Then height, lol.
Well, looks do matter.
I'd say appearance accounts for about half of it.
That's either because you're fighting in a high-ranked arena without having what it takes, or because you seriously don't know your own place.
I'd say I'm reasonably popular.
Not to the point of being super popular, though.
This genuinely makes me sad.
I regularly have girlfriends, but since I'm always the one who made the first move, I don't think that counts as being popular.
Does it mean women come to you instead?
It means women come to you without you doing anything.
That guess is completely off. Every so often someone tells me 'you look like such-and-such celebrity,' and from there a popularity streak of several months to a year kicks in.
That's based on my own experience, plus things I've heard at girls' get-togethers and from personal info on dating apps.
On dating apps you start with looks first, so in that arena appearance probably accounts for about 80% of the impact.
But I never actually got a girlfriend.
That's how it goes.
Just not getting angry makes you no different from a statue.
There's got to be some actual benefit to dating the guy.
Background and Key Points of This Debate
The idea that “people who don’t get angry are popular with women” is one of those claims that keeps resurfacing in relationship threads on 5ch, without any actual survey data backing it up — it remains purely anecdotal. The thread split over two main points. First, whether “not getting angry” is valued as a genuinely mild-mannered personality, or whether it’s merely the bare minimum standard of “doesn’t resort to violence.” Second, the counterargument that looks and height are the real deciding factors, with some pointing out that on dating apps first impressions are almost entirely determined by appearance. A point easy for readers to misread is that the impression that “scary-looking, tough guys are popular” tends to stick simply because a few flashy examples stand out — several commenters note that what most people actually want, in practice, is a stable, even-tempered partner. The fact that the very definition of “popular” differs from person to person (does it mean being confessed to, or simply being well-liked?) is also part of why the discussion kept talking past itself.
