Is this Psychic Force's first time landing on a Nintendo platform?

Re: #2
The only version that actually released properly was the DC one, so I'd say it counts as a first port to every platform.
3AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:29
It's [year] 2026 and we're getting '2012'? That's just awful.
6AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:31
I wish they'd give us a graphics remake or a new entry.
Guess I'll buy it anyway though.
7AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:33
Taito's become a company that just preserves old IPs at this point.
Was being bought out by Square Enix really a good thing for them?
46AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:59
Re: #7
At least they still have their own identity instead of getting killed off entirely like Hudson — could be worse.
8AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:33
Re: #1
It's a low-poly game that runs fine even on the original Switch — why does that leave PS4 out in the cold? 😨
10AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:34
Cosmo Machia? Never heard of them.
37AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:51
Re: #10
They've put out stuff like Shikigami no Shiro recently.
12AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:35
Seriously, would garbage outlets stop desperately reshuffling the platform order?
This very site lists it as Switch, Steam, PS5!
25AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:45
Re: #12
Still doing that Sony favoritism thing, huh.
Reminds me of when Monster Hunter Rise went multiplatform — Capcom's official announcement listed Xbox before PlayStation, but every domestic site put PS first anyway.

Re: #12
The Keiji Channel always lists PS5 first for multiplatform titles too.
14AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:36
Companies scraping by on cheap ports like this will probably go under once the recession hits.
Only creepy otaku are buying this stuff anyway.
15AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:38
I was shocked to see a crowd of otaku girls gathered around it at the arcade.
Just felt so out of place, somehow.
17AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:40
The Dreamcast version of 2012 was a flawless port, and that was great.

Re: #15
Well, magazines like Dengeki PlayStation were hyping it up hard back then.
16AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:39
Wait, it's not even a new game?

A remaster at this point doesn't really move the needle for me.
21AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:43
This is another case of Sony paying to block the Xbox version.
73AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:25
Re: #21
They don't have that kind of money left anymore…
98AnonymousSep 15, 2026 19:33
Re: #21
Still pushing that conspiracy theory?
No need to "block" anything — an Xbox version with orders of magnitude less demand was never going to be part of a low-budget multiplatform project in the first place.
28AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:46
Way too nostalgic.
Before I knew it, '2012' had become the past.
67AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:18
Re: #28
Oh right, '2012' used to feel like the future… that gives me a real thousand-yard stare.

It's even funnier seeing Fist of the North Star machines at pachinko parlors — like, 'the apocalypse' from that story is now a quarter-century in the past!
30AnonymousSep 15, 2026 17:47
If it's not a new game, at least release it as part of a collection…
A standalone release, seriously?
100AnonymousSep 15, 2026 19:52
Re: #30
This is Cosmo Machia we're talking about — they pulled the same crappy move with Exzeal.
They'll eventually put out a "Complete Pack" with a soundtrack CD and art book as bonuses, so just leave it be until then.
59AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:15
In the end, not even the original game made it onto the Egret II Mini.
63AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:16
Re: #59
That thing isn't powerful enough anyway — it can't fully emulate the polygon arcade boards.
62AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:16
I feel like this was pretty popular back in the day, but this style of fighting system never got any imitators at all.
65AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:16
Re: #62
Rozen Maiden… no, never mind.
68AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:18
Did this actually have a good reputation back then?
70AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:20
Re: #68
Game magazines like Gamest used to run tons of illustrations that were apparently drawn by female artists.
71AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:21
There were a few games that reused this system, right?
72AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:22
Re: #71
The Lyrical Nanoha game on PSP was like this.
Even the feeling that it had too few moves was the same.
75AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:27
Re: #71
The game based on CLAMP's X was like this too.
My little sister was playing it and I was shocked, like, 'this is basically Psychic Force!'
74AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:26
No Xbox version — guess the developer is M2?
80AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:36
Re: #74
M2 will make an Xbox version too if the publisher wants one — like with the Gradius Origins Collection.
81AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:42
Is this the one with the theme song that was allegedly plagiarized?
89AnonymousSep 15, 2026 19:10
Re: #81
That was the PS version of the previous game.
83AnonymousSep 15, 2026 18:47
Wong's throw animation in 2012 is way too long and gets in the way.
Bring back the first game's version where he pins the opponent and finishes with a roundhouse kick.

Re: #83
"There's no escape" — shun-shun-shun-shun-shun-niko-shun (mimicking the character's rapid-fire attack sound/voice clip).

Background and key points of this discussion

Psychic Force 2012 is a versus fighting game originally released in 1998 as a Dreamcast exclusive; this marks its first port to another platform. Publisher Taito came under Square Enix’s umbrella in 2005, and in recent years its business has centered more on managing and re-releasing rights to older titles than on new games. The “platform listing order” debate that flared up in the thread — the claim that gaming media tends to put the PlayStation version first when covering multiplatform titles — is a long-running point of contention on the video game hardware board (Geha) and isn’t unique to this article. It’s also worth noting that at the time of announcement, details like price, exact release timing, and whether this is a remaster or a straight port haven’t been revealed, so comments expressing disappointment that it’s “a port, not a new game” or speculating that “a complete pack will come out later” are both unconfirmed guesses at this stage.
