PS5/PC’s ‘End of Eternity ENHANCED REMASTER’ Drops Out of Nowhere Today

The story

An enhanced-visual version of the tri-Ace-developed RPG “End of Eternity” (released overseas as “Resonance of Fate”), dubbed the “ENHANCED REMASTER,” was released without warning for PS5 and PC on October 30, 2026. It’s the second remaster of the game, following the original 2010 PS3/Xbox 360 release and the 2018 “4K/HD EDITION,” and since the announcement left pricing and the terms for owners of previous versions unclear, it sparked a wave of surprise and confusion on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (“Geha”) board. Reactions ranged from praise calling it “a one-of-a-kind masterpiece battle system” to weary complaints of “another remaster, really?”, and arguments broke out over how to interpret the pricing details.

Never even touched the PS4 version, it's just been sitting on my shelf… *single tear*
4AnonymousOct 30, 2026 09:56
Whoa, haven't heard that name in forever, man
5AnonymousOct 30, 2026 09:56
I actually think it's pretty one-of-a-kind and I love it,
but it was the kind of game where you'd hit a wall hard if you didn't really get the battle system.

This and Natural Doctrine (another infamously brutal tactical RPG) are both classics.
6AnonymousOct 30, 2026 09:57
I only remember the name, can't even be bothered to look up what kind of game it was
Don't need another remaster, honestly
7AnonymousOct 30, 2026 09:57
Info had been out since yesterday, took forever for a thread to actually get made
8AnonymousOct 30, 2026 09:58
Isn't this the game where you dress the characters up and get to see their underwear?
16AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:04
Re: #8
It's a game about cherishing a withered, barren land
9AnonymousOct 30, 2026 09:58
Just the other day I was at a retro game shop and saw the Xbox 360 version on the shelf, got all nostalgic

Such a waste that the opening hours make you think it's a bad game
12AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:02
I got really hooked on this one
Feel like the remaster cut something out compared to the PS3 version — is the Enhanced version basically the same as that remaster?
14AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:03
> The 2010 'gunfight symphony RPG' evolves even further, roughly 8 years after its 2018 remaster.

Second remaster in 8 years
15AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:03
As of yesterday only the PC version had been confirmed
Today it showed up on the PS Store too
17AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:05
Isn't this the one where you run around stylishly leaping all over the place while shooting guns?
18AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:06
The game where by the end your gun doesn't even look like a gun anymore
19AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:08
Always been curious about this one but kept passing on it
Guess it's about time I give it a shot
20AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:10
A friend of mine switched to a PS4 Pro just for this game, but it took about six months before anyone even noticed the PS4 had three flabby rolls (a jab at the Pro's stepped, layered design)

Kinda respect that they're openly saying they used AI to upscale the graphics instead of hiding it
37AnonymousOct 30, 2026 11:02
Re: #21
They say "AI" but it's just a regular upscale, isn't it
22AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:29
Isn't this the one with the completely bonkers, nonsensical plot?
24AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:34
Dropping it out of nowhere like that…
Are they treating this like some indie title, not taking it seriously enough?
25AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:36
I beat this and I don't remember a thing about it
Even though I played it twice, on the 360 and PS4
Is this the same as that Korean PS4 version?
26AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:39
So if you already own the old 4K Edition you can get it for 990 yen?
Sounds like it's free on Steam though
27AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:39
An RPG where if you don't get the system, you can't even win the very first battle, let alone clear Chapter 1
30AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:44
On Steam, if you already bought the 4K/HD EDITION before, you can get this as a DLC add-on for an extra 1000 yen, but
apparently on PS even owning the old one doesn't count — it's treated as a totally separate purchase, so you have to buy it fresh (4070 yen)
33AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:54
Re: #30
People who lie like that must be pretty ugly on the inside
34AnonymousOct 30, 2026 10:56
Re: #33
Huh?
Isn't that what the article says?
52AnonymousOct 30, 2026 11:39
Re: #34
Nope. If you own the PS4 version it's 990 yen
39AnonymousOct 30, 2026 11:04
This barely sold, quit milking it
42AnonymousOct 30, 2026 11:09
Re: #39
I think it's because it left Sega's hands and became tri-Ace's own in-house IP, so now they can do whatever they want with it as a tech demo
47AnonymousOct 30, 2026 11:30
Re: #42
Ah, so that's what happened
73AnonymousOct 30, 2026 12:28
Re: #42
Didn't realize that happened
I don't get the impression tri-Ace has been doing much lately, but I guess they had the budget to buy out the IP outright
Or maybe this IP's asset value was just incredibly low…
49AnonymousOct 30, 2026 11:35
The publisher for End of Eternity is listed as 'AAA' now — did they get the rights from Sega or something? (´・ω・`)
61AnonymousOct 30, 2026 11:57
Re: #49
That happened quite a while ago
69AnonymousOct 30, 2026 12:19
Are you guys serious right now
This is the game where your characters just shake in terror and get knocked out of commission over and over, it's brutal
Someone recommended this to me and it practically made me give up on PlayStation entirely, come on
74AnonymousOct 30, 2026 12:28
Re: #69
Yeah, it's the game where you can get killed by a stray dog before you even finish the tutorial lol
83AnonymousOct 30, 2026 12:49
The thing is, every Square Enix remaster ends up being a downgrade…
90AnonymousOct 30, 2026 13:26
Re: #83
It's Sega, not Square Enix, newbie
91AnonymousOct 30, 2026 13:26
Wish they'd make gun customization actually show up visually on the weapon
92AnonymousOct 30, 2026 13:41
Re: #91
No way, lol, the gun wouldn't even fire anymore

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

“End of Eternity” is a tri-Ace-developed RPG released by Sega in 2010, known overseas as Resonance of Fate. After the PS4-targeted “4K/HD EDITION” launched in 2018, the rights to the IP appear to have passed from Sega to tri-Ace itself (see post 42), and it’s speculated that once it became an in-house IP, it became easier for tri-Ace to put out additional remasters like this one as a kind of technical demo. Pricing information also got tangled up in the thread — a post claiming that even owners of the previous edition would have to pay full price (post 30) drew accusations of being a liar, but a later correction (post 52) clarified that owners of the old PS4 version can actually buy it for 990 yen. The game itself is defined by its distinctive bullet-simulation-style battle system, but it’s also notorious for brutal difficulty — including getting killed by enemies before you’ve even finished the tutorial — and this thread saw plenty of posters reliving that baptism by fire.
