Surely everyone can see through that, right?
That's been rumored for a while now, hasn't it.
Apparently even back at Smash Ultimate it was down to either 'everyone's here again' or a complete system overhaul, so that's plausible.
Maybe that's literally their full name at this point.
So that kills the theory of a 2027 release/N64 remake — looks like it's now a February 2029 reveal, or maybe even later.
Smash loses half its appeal without new characters added.
They basically have no choice but to keep making new entries built around that hook — it's like a migratory fish that dies the moment it stops swimming; there's no going back to how things were.
All they're really saying is that they're pushing back on a Switch 2 port of Smash Ultimate and that a new Smash is in development — they never said anything about a Nintendo Direct reveal.

Ultimate's very first announcement had no actual gameplay footage either.
For Smash, Nintendo might go with that same kind of minimal-info reveal even in a Direct.

Since Mario Kart World is set on a single continent, a big DLC expansion adding either another continent
or a trip to another planet does seem plausible.

Isn't it commendable that they're reliably delivering exactly what customers want? Honestly that complaint just reeks of jealousy from not having a rock-solid character IP of your own.

So you're comparing a Switch title at its peak lifetime sales, near the end of the console's life,
against a title that's only a year-plus post-launch on the new hardware?

It's already down to only 3,000 units a week though.
At the end of the day, just rattling off titles is way too bland as information; if there's no detailed content behind the leak, it's worthless.
Text-only leaks are actually the right amount, though.
If images or video started leaking too, it'd basically be confirmed already, and that takes the fun out of it.
For Switch 2:
a mainline Kirby, a mainline Zelda, Mario Maker 3,
Animal Crossing, WarioWare, Splatoon 4,
2D Mario, 3D Mario, Mario Party,
Mario Golf, Pikmin 5, Luigi's Mansion 4, and Paper Mario
are all in development or in planning.
