Her eyebrows are jet black, so the blonde just looks off.

She did the great service of stealing every bit of hated Becky's work away, so I can't bring myself to badmouth Kojima.

Re: #6
I think Kojima wasn't really having an affair — she got unfairly slammed for it, framed by Becky and Sun Music.

Kojima's Sofmap days are what stick with me most

Re: #15
Even someone like this did time at Sofmap, huh

Re: #15
"She's Chilean, so of course…" — nah, doesn't quite work as an excuse! (Kojima has Chilean heritage on her father's side)

Re: #1
She's cute after all, lol
16AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:42
I'd say blonde, honestly?
Black hair just attracts the creeps (lit. "trash").
17AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:42
She's such a nobody celebrity, yet they're covering something like this — impressive.
25AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:44
Blonde never suited her to begin with.

Re: #25
But Chihaya from Chihayafuru (a manga/anime about competitive karuta) has bleached-blonde hair, and she's a serious honor student. If even she went blonde, that shows blonde has become totally normalized in Japan. Black hair barely even shows up in Chihayafuru — it's basically a Stone Age custom at this point.

Whatever happened to her tea brand?
28AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:47
Re: #26
Her contract period's probably already over.
31AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:48
Something's off.

The problem isn't her looks.
What's actually missing?

Something about it just feels fake.
32AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:48
This has real "Kojiruri from her affair days" vibes. (Kojiruri = her nickname)
33AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:48
Re: #22
Back then, Sofmap photos were basically guaranteed to turn out awful and disappointing. Despite that, Kojima actually looked cute in hers, which is exactly why it became a talking point.

Re: #22
There were two versions of the logo in the background — one was reserved for the agency's "top-tier" girls.
36AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:49
Blonde just didn't suit her.
Was it blonde so people wouldn't underestimate her?
Whatever the reasoning, good luck out there.
38AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:50
Leaving a major agency of her own accord was such a painful move.
67AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:09
Re: #38
If she'd just quietly quit, fine, but she burned every bridge on her way out. That alone wrecked her image.
39AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:50
Back when she was on TV, I did like her voice.
41AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:52
Weird hair colors just make Japanese people look way older.
45AnonymousSep 2, 2026 22:56
Oh, it's brown.
Black hair is the best. Shame.
62AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:05
Even with blonde hair she's stunningly gorgeous
72AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:12
Feels like she's going for the Akiko Yada route. (a fellow actress with a similar image)
75AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:15
Re: #72
Akiko Yada can actually act, but Kojima…
77AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:15
She looked like she was about to take over the industry, then the affair scandal got her blacklisted in an instant.
Ryoko Shinohara vanished just as fast too — affair scandals really do brutal damage.
80AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:17
Re: #77
Kojiruri really had that natural-born star quality, though.
101AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:57
Re: #77
Was there ever really a moment she looked like she'd take over? At Kojiruri's peak she was still miles behind Becky, and even after Becky's scummy-affair downfall, when Kojima tried to muscle into that spot, it didn't work out.

For a while Horipro (her agency) seemed to be chasing after successful manga artists (like Nekomu) — maybe she was riding that same trend.
Over at Nekomu's place, the husband posts on social media about work and hobbies, and frequently posts about cooking meals or teasing his wife — and it actually seems to be going surprisingly well for them.
78AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:16
What did she even see in that old guy?
She torpedoed her own career over it.
84AnonymousSep 2, 2026 23:21
Re: #78
Probably just the money.
104AnonymousSep 3, 2026 00:02
She's picked up such a negative image that winning back any goodwill seems like a tall order now.

Re: #104
Meanwhile Kingdom (the manga) still sells like crazy, even after getting mocked over the "Reebok Warp" scene lol

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Ruriko Kojima went independent from major talent agency Horipro following a relationship and career hiatus that were made public around 2018, and the “affair” and “agency departure” repeatedly referenced in the thread stem from that past reporting — though the detailed facts of what actually happened at the time are not part of this article’s source material. The thread mainly split along two lines: a simple matter of taste over whether blonde or black/brown hair suits her better, and the rights and wrongs of her image surrounding that past relationship and agency departure. On the latter point, readers should note that much of the commentary is speculation rather than confirmed fact. Some posts also dragged in unrelated private matters involving other celebrities, such as references to “former SPEED member Uehara,” but these were excluded from the article as poorly substantiated assumptions. Readers are advised to separate the main topic — her hairstyle change — from the speculation-laden commentary rooted in past media coverage.
